Bristol is a city in Sullivan County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 26,702 at the 2010 census. It is the twin city of Bristol, Virginia, which lies directly across the state line between Tennessee and Virginia. The boundary between the two cities is also the state line, which runs along State Street in their common downtown district. Bristol is a principal city of the Kingsport−Bristol−Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City−Kingsport−Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area − commonly known as the Tri-Cities region.
Bristol TN/VA: The City In Two States
Join me in Bristol, the only city in the USA whose downtown is split exactly down the middle between two states. Bristol TN and Bristol VA are considered twin cities which occur when two urban centers are built so close together that they grow into each other over time.

Burger Bar On State Street In Bristol Virginia
Discover the scenic side of life at Yes, that's an egg on my burger. That's a BZ Burger from the Burger Bar in Bristol, Virginia. Along with the cheese, onion, and secret spice, maybe this should be called a protein burger! Regardless, it was delicious. Add parmesan fries and a milkshake and its simply divine! Roy had a cheeseburger, fries and a shake to round out our meal. If we ate like this every day, we would be round!!
The recently restored diner is iconic burger joint. The staff made us feel like regulars, even though we were first-timers from Iowa. Whether you're a country music buff, a race fan, or just another traveler, when you're in Bristol, you really do need to check out the Burger Bar. It is worth the trip!

The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Bristol, Virginia with Washington County for statistical purposes. Bristol is a border town in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. It is known to be the birthplace of country music, as the famous Bristol Sessions were recorded here in 1927 and marked the commercial debuts for artists such as Jimmy Rogers, and the Carter Family.
The city is also very well known for it's NASCAR track, Bristol Motor Speedway, also known as The World's Fastest Half-Mile for it's high banks and 1/2 mile length.
Main Street, in the downtown area is the dividing state line with the Virginia side running west, and the Tennessee side running East.
Being the birthplace of country music, the city is host to many music festivals each year with the biggest being The Rhythm and Roots Reunion.

Driving around Abingdon, Virginia
Abingdon is a town in Washington County, Virginia, United States, 133 miles (214 km) southwest of Roanoke. The population was 8,191 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Washington County. The town encompasses several historically significant sites and features a fine arts and crafts scene centered on the galleries and museums along Main Street.
Martha Washington College, a school for women, operated in Abingdon from 1860 to 1932 in a former private residence. Since 1935 the building has been occupied and operated as a hotel, the Martha Washington Inn. The Barter Theatre, the state theatre of Virginia, was opened in Abingdon in 1933 during the Great Depression.
