Dragon's Back, Hong Kong - Cinematic Tour of the Hike
Enjoy a cinematic virtual tour of the most popular hike in Hong Kong - The Dragon's Back.
The hike showcases some of the most beautiful views of Hong Kong Island's south side. Hike up to Shek O Peak from where you have spectacular views of Shek O Beach and Village, Big Wave Bay, Shek O Golf Course. And on the other side panoramic views of Tai Tam Bay.
This easy hike is a favourite of everyone living on Hong Kong island. In fact, it's perhaps the first hike that many would embark upon as their initiation into hiking in Hong Kong.
We hope you enjoy cinematic views of Dragon's Back. The full guide to this hike can be found on:

HIKING DRAGON'S BACK TRAIL GUIDE
This was such a surprising hike! Finishing a hike in the beach is something I was not expecting!
How to get here:
For you to get here you need to make yourself to SHAU KEI WAN metro station. Once you get there take the EXIT A in order for you to get out just in front of the bus terminal.
Once you exit the station you will see signs for the BUS NUMBER 9 going to SHEK O. Take that bus which is just 1 min walk from the metro exit.
There is a bus stop just in front of the start of the dragon's back hiking trail but you must press the button on the bus in order for it to stop. Check on google maps the start of the trail and put a star on it, once you reach close there ask for driver to stop.
This dragon's back hiking trail starts with a lot of stairs going up, it is a bit hard in the beginning but once you get up there the rest of the trail is quite easy. The landscapes are amazing so If you are around Hong Kong don't hesitate in doing it.
I hope you have enjoyed this guide, it is quite easy to get to this dragon's back trail.

The Dragons Back - Hong Kong's 5 Best walks EP 1.
The Dragon’s Back trail rightly makes all the top hiking lists for it’s easy access to the city, relatively gentle slopes and spectacular views. Try and get to the start before 9 AM and enjoy a morning stroll across the ridge before descending for lunch in Big Wave bay. With most of the heavy walking done, climb over one more hill in the afternoon, taking time to look back across the bay and then down into Chai Wan with views along Victoria harbor.
Start on Shek O Road taking bus no 9, follow the trail around to Big Wave bay. Then take the path at the north side of the beach up and over the hill to Chai Wan where you can take the MTR.

Dragon's Back walk, Shek O, Hong Kong, China
This is a 6 mile walk that begins at the bus stop on the Shek O road above To Tei Wan village.
Firstly is a climb to reach what is the Dragon's Back, a path following the tops of the hills north.
At Pottinger Gap I headed eastwards to Big Wave Bay.
The last part of the walk is a bit of road walking that goes through a large golf course before finishing at Shek O.
Both the start and finish of this walk have bus stops to get to Shau Kei Wan MTR station from there it is easy to get back to Central Hong Kong.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I start off when a “how to” get to the trail head, which is very easy… just follow the crowds. Dragon’s Back Trail I believe is the most popular trail to Hong Kong. Once at the trailhead, which the bus drops you off right in front, it’s a short walk up hill to the crest of the mountain and you’ll get great views. From there, just follow the signs and you’ll eventually end up in Big Wave Bay, which is one of the only places you can surf on the island. It’s a beautiful beach and the waves are good. Take the hike, have a beer on the beach afterwards… and then take the bus back to the metro station when you’re done.

Dragon's Back Trail in Shek O(石澳)
With beautiful coastal scenery and easy-accessibility from the city, the Dragon’s Back is a popular escape that deservedly gets regular mentions in travel guidebooks. A short hop from the bustle of Hong Kong East, the trail provides stunning views of Shek O, Tai Long Wan, Stanley, Tai Tam, and the South China Sea.
Follow the rolling ridge from Shek O Peak to Wan Cham Shan to conquer the ‘dragon’. This undulating path with fluttering butterflies, a refreshing breeze and open vistas makes for an enjoyable hike.
