Orphans and Abandoned in Kampala Uganda
We believe each child deserves a future. We give children a healthy start in life, as we are providing food for the poor and an opportunity to learn. These children are those which we are personally caring for, either orphaned or abandoned; we provide a home for them, food, clothes, education and medical treatment when necessary. We are funded by donation. You can help us by giving to our ministry. Thank you.

Over 100 Dogs Compete in Kampala's Annual Dog Show
Over 100 of Uganda's excellent dogs had a day of tail wagging fun on Sunday at Uganda's annual Ultimate Dog Show.
In its fifth year, the competition featured a variety of breeds vying to claim the top. Dogs have to show great levels of agility, obedience and tracking while taking different tasks including walking on hind legs and jumping through rings and high hurdles.
As the saying goes, every dog has its day. The winner of the show, an eight-kilogram male dachshund named Winnie, is walking proof that size is not quite everything.
“He was the smallest dog at the pitch. So I believe everything he did was every exciting, like everything the big dogs did, he did, said Joshua Semambo, owner of the dachshund.
Cash, a doberman that won the last year's crown, also appeared in the show.
For Cash, he can do almost anything you ask him to do, like if he is not allowed to stay in the house, he won’t. If he is not allowed to do this or do that, he will listen to whatever you say, said Leo Xavier, owner of the dog.
Competitors say the time they spend with their dogs is worth it. It’s from shows like these that many dog lovers can pay tribute to the unconditional love given by man's best friend.
The whole thing about this dog show concept is to entice people to be able to live with their animals, that association between the animal and human being. So we thought we need to sensitize people to be able to get that point, said Nicholas Ndirangu, an organizer of the dog show.

What do snowboarding, medical school, and Uganda have in common? The answer is Brolin Mawejje. A mere 21 years old, Brolin has endured more hardship than most individuals will in a lifetime. Beginning his life in Kampala, Uganda, Brolin lived with a single father and seven siblings. He was forced to learn very early on how to take care of himself, as his culture and family provided very few opportunities.
Through snowboarding, Brolin found an outlet for his anger. He developed a second family on the mountains, a family who constantly pushed him to overcome his fears. He had finally found the guidance and opportunity he was searching for.

Bicycle Feature Story
Bicycle transport may seem to be a thing of the past but benefits associated with the trend continue to give hope to those that see it as a means of survival.
We took to the suburbs in Kawempe Division one of the five divisions that make up Kampala to acquaint ourselves with the bicycle transport.
Despite its numerous recognized benefits, the use of bicycle transport seems to be regarded as a means of travel for the poor.
This has not been the case with Ssekyanzi David, a 39-year-old resident of Kawempe who has been operating a bicycle transport business for over seven years now.
Ssekyanzi’s dream is to see a city with roads that have reservations for cyclists which he says is more efficient than walking in terms of speed and distances covered and is less affected by delays.
It is worth noting that although bicycle transport can be quite unsafe and expose users to pollution, among other disadvantages, its advantages outweigh them.
Amanda Ngabirano a bicycle enthusiast and senior lecturer of Urban planning at the college of Engineering and Design Art of Makerere University puts to perspective the benefits of cycling.
Ngabirano shares the same dream with Sseyanzi of seeing roads with cycling lanes and a properly planned transport system within Kampala.
The Kampala Capital City Authority Publicist Peter Kauju affirms KCCA’s master plan that among other things looks at non-motorized transport as part of the Authority’s priority areas.

Students Share their Dreams for the Future
Sasha recently returned from her trip to Uganda, East Africa where she was invited to conduct education and leadership training sessions for students, leaders in the business, media, government, military and religious sectors. Sasha’s social change commitment is to serve as a liaison between organizations in the United States and Uganda to improve access to equitable educational opportunities. Her visit was part of the Bridging the Gap Initiative to build educational and cultural bridges between African and African American students.
During her visit, she successfully finalized the global school partnership between Kawotto Saviours’ Primary School and Changing Destinations: Journey to Excellence, Inc. and established a Pen Pal literacy program for students in America and Uganda. In addition to her training activities, Sasha had the honor of meeting with the former Ugandan Minister of Tourism, dinner with one of Makerere University’s professor, and one of her fellow John Maxwell Team colleagues. Sasha also was interviewed on national television at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC-TV). Her message of education and empowerment was seen by more than 8 million viewers in several African countries.
Sasha is currently working on future social change projects in Uganda including: (1) providing primary schools with mobile solar devices so children are not learning in the dark; (2) the “Sponsor a Teacher” program to help those who volunteer earn a salary to meet basic needs; and (3) An international documentary featuring women of color from around the world in collaboration with the International University of East Africa.
Changing Destinations, Journey to Excellence, Inc. helped make the trip possible by raising over $900 in donations.
