Only 30 minutes from Bali are Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. To us, these islands off Bali show the true Bali paradise. You can easily explore both whilst staying on either Lembongan or Ceningan.

There are so many amazing things to do on Lembongan. Devils Tear, Dream beach, Tamarind Beach, Sandy Bay, Mushroom Beach and Secret beach which we loved finding.

Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia - Island Tour || Mushroom & Dream Beach || Devil's Tear || Sunset Point

Nusa Lembongan is approximately 8km² in size and is one of three neighbouring islands, the others being much larger Nusa Penida and tiny Nusa Ceningan (also covered by this article). The three islands are separated from Bali by the Badung Strait. Some visitors may find Nusa Lembongan a little slow after the pace of South Bali.

Many areas around the island are good for diving and snorkeling, with abundant marine life and healthy coral. Surfing can get a bit crowded, but the waves are good. There are several white sand beaches away from the main centres which are virtually never crowded. There is a flourishing and well established seaweed farming industry here, and many visitors find it interesting to learn about this.

Orientation
Two main beach areas have traditionally attracted visitors.


Southeast Nusa Lembongan with the hills of Nusa Penida in the background
Jungut Batu in the northwest is the bigger of the two, and has myriad hotels and cheap eateries. This is the area which traditionally attracted backpackers and surfers to the island. The white sand beach here is pleasant enough but nothing to get too excited about, and it is a little narrow in places. In more recent times, the hillside to the south of Jungut Batu known as the Bukit (the hill) has been developed and has attracted some higher level hotels and private villas. The views from the Bukit are perhaps second to none on Nusa Lembongan. Sunsets are best viewed along the main Jungut Batu beachfront.

Mushroom Bay to the southwest of Jungut Batu is a quaint, attractive and sheltered bay. It is an especially nice spot after 15:00 when the day trippers have returned to Bali, and it has a great white sandy beach, along with some cosy little water-side restaurants.

Further south, the lesser known beaches either side of the Devil's Tear outcrop, known as Dream Beach, one of the most beautiful in Bali and Sunset Beach (or Sandy Bay), are increasingly drawing more visitors. The coastal landscape in this part of the island is mostly low-lying limestone cliffs, and there are some dramatic cave formations. A beautiful view can be seen from the cliff at the right side of the Dream beach, especially at the sunset.

The north end of the island is fringed by an important mangrove forest, and the eastern side of the island is separated from neighbouring Nusa Ceningan by a shallow estuarine channel.

The main population centre of the island is Lembongan Village in the southern interior, and it is here that you will find the homes of many traditional island families.

We Hired a Buggy on Nusa Lembongan and drove to Dream Beach and Devil's Tear. Before we got to Dream Beach we ate some lunch at Ginger Moon, a Mexican restaurant. Once we got to Dream Beach we hung out at The Dream Beach Huts for a while and then headed to Devil’s Tear.

Travel Bali Day 7 - Dream Beach in Nusa Lembongan - Island Life!

Daily Vlog #74 - Bali Vlog day 7 - Another day in paradise backpacking Bali. There are so many asian countries to see when backpacking southeast asia, but Bali is one of my favorites. Today we are exploring a completely new island that I have never been to before called Nusa Lembongan. When you travel in Bali it's so easy to get around and there are budget accomodations and hotels everywhere but last night the one we chose lost power hahahh so we decided to move on and check out a amazing beach called dream beach. I know now why it has that name, because it is set in the most picturesque locations. Island hopping in Bali is a must and if I were going to give any Bali travel tips it would be to come here to dream beach in Nusa Lembongan and stay in the Dream Beach huts. There are so many amazing beaches in Bali but this one is one of my favorites, and it's so easy to rent a scooter in Bali that you have to do it and explore around. Well first you have to get on the island of Nusa Lembongan haha. After lounging around the beach and the beautiful infinity pool we finished the afternoon with an amazing yoga practice in a small little hut at the Yoga Shack Nusa Lembongan, and then went over to the cliff to check out a spot called the Devil's Tears. Its a cliffside cave that basically spits out water when the waves come in, and has the most amazing energy. Check it out! The end of the night was spent hunting mosquitos hahah in our net that was supposed to keep them out but instead made a perfect little sactuary for them all to gather hahah oh well it's all part of the journey :) and if anyone is reading down this far thanks for hanging around and I promise to start uploading more frequently. Travelling in Bali is amazing and it's been a busy busy busy time but Astrid and I are just finishing up a yoga teacher training and are super excited for our adventures to follow!!

How to Vlog? This is the question I asked myself as I started out the new year. I am always looking to be more creative and I decided that this year will be the year that I start a daily vlog. So sitback and step into my daily life.

Vlogging is totally new to me, but I hope to bring you on all my travels, adventures and all around exploring.

A little bit about myself:
I live in San Diego and love all things creative. I am a webmaster for work but do all sorts of things including design, photography and anything that involves using my hands or creativity.

My wife and I are avid rock climbers and love go to on adventures in our 88 Vanagon. We traveled to last year all around Mexico, China, Bali, Hawaii and throughout California and Neveda. I am hoping that 2016 will bring more excitement and more travels, so be sure to subscribe :)
