Coonoor located in Nilgiri district Tamilnadu, 75 km far from Coimbatore North.
1Sim's Park
At a distance of 4 Kms from Coonoor Railway Station, Sim's Park was laid out in 1874 by Mr.J.D. Sim, then Secretary to Government and Major places to visit in Coonoor.
Spread over 30 acres of land, it was started as a pleasure resort for the residents and visitors, and later developed into Garden. This park cum botanical garden contains many species of trees and shrubs not found in Ooty.
2 Lamb's Rock
At a distance of 8 Kms from Coonoor Railway Station (on the way to Dolphin's Nose), Lamb's Rock is situated in Burliar village and it is one of the favorite picnic spots from Coonoor and also one of the best places to visit in Coonoor.
Named after Captain Lamb who attempted to open a path to this place, the rock drops down several hundred feet to disappear in thick jungle below. The plains of Coimbatore and surrounding valleys offer magnificient views from this spot.
This place demands moderate level trekking (Trek duration not available).
3 Dolphin's Nose
At a distance of 12 Kms from Coonoor Railway Station, Dolphin's Nose is a wonderful viewpoint with picturesque views of the Hills of Nilgirs. It is one of the most visited Coonoor tourist places.
4 Droog Fort
At a distance of 17 Kms from Coonoor, Droog Fort is said to be used by Tippu Sultan as an outpost. The historical Droog Fort at an altitude of about 6000 feet above the lush plains, offers a spectacular view to the visitors and is one of the popular Coonoor tourist places.
5 Kotagiri, Near Ooty
At a distance of 29 km from Ooty, 20 km from Coonoor, 72 km from Coimbatore & 544 km from Chennai, Kotagiri is a small Hill Station in Nilgiris district of Tamilnadu and is one of the top places to visit in Ooty. It is situated at an altitude of 1793 m. This the oldest and the third largest hill stations in the Nilgiris after Ooty and Coonoor. The name Kotagiri literally means mountains of the Kotas and refers to the Kota tribe who lived here in the past.
6 Catherine Falls
At a distance of 7 km from Kotagiri, 21 km from Coonoor, and 36 km from Ooty, Catherine Falls is a beautiful waterfall situated near Kotagiri in Nilgiris district of Tamilnadu. It is the second largest waterfalls in Nilgiris and one of the best waterfalls in Ooty. It is also one of the best places to visit in Coonoor.

Bakasura Malai view point
Droog Fort (also called Bakasura Malai) is a historic fort located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. The fort was used as an outpost by Tipu Sultan in the 18th century. Today, the fort is in ruins, with only one wall remaining. The site attracts tourists, who reach the fort by hiking through the Nonsuch Tea Estate.

We headed to Droog Fort, an ancient outpost of the indian emperor Tipu Sultan located at the centre of the plateau, surrounded by Mysore / Coonoor / Ooty / Masunagudi and most regions of The Western Ghats. We ventured through some tough offroad and trekked all the way to the top of the outpost. We are the first ones to capture the entire outpost using a drone.

1. Sim's Park, Coonoor
Sim's Park is in Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. It is an important tourist place to visit in Coonoor, at a height of 1780 meters above mean sea level. Here the maximum temperature goes up to 30 degree Celsius and the minimum falls to 5°C. The average rain fall of this garden is 150 cm
2. Droog Fort, Coonoor

3. Highfield Tea Factory
Highfield Tea Factory is a place that's drenched with the smell of fresh tea that's being brewed. 2km northeast of upper Coonoor is this Nilgiris of the western ghat. Coonoor is situated 19 km away from its sister hilltop Ooty. This hilly Indian countryside was set up to utilise the tea plantations around Nilgiri Hills that produces an exquisite tea. With time, the estate evolved to stand as a site promoting education and tourism.
4. Dolphin's Nose Road
Its not beacause there are dolphins there,the edge of the view point is a big rock which resembles the Dolphin's nose.
5. Dolphin Nose
At a distance of 12 Kms from Coonoor Railway Station, Dolphin's Nose is a wonderful viewpoint with picturesque views of the Hills of Nilgirs. It is one of the most visited Coonoor tourist places.
6. Wellington
At a distance of 3 Kms from Coonoor & 16 kms from Ooty, Wellington is a small and peaceful town in Nilgirs. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Coonoor.
Wellington is a military town with rows of barracks. It is the headquarters of the Madras Regimental Centre and also home for the Defence Staff College.
7. Lamb Rock
Lamb's Rock is a tourist spot in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India, on the slopes of the Nilgiri Hills. It is located at a distance of 8 kilometers from Coonoor. It has a view of the Coimbatore plains, tea estates and coffee estates.

Stuck in traffic with superbikes | Dolphin nose coonoor
Day 3 of #Ooty series, We decided to head to Dolphin nose which is in #Coonoor. But we got on the road with our superbikes, somehow the traffic cleared. But it took us 1 hour to cross 5kms. But the view was worth it.
A bird's eye view of Coonoor from the Dolphin's Nose, the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris, surrounded by tea plantations, is at an altitude of 1839 meters. It is 19 km from Ooty (also, Udhagamandalam or Ootacamund), another famous hill station of the Nilgiris. Coonoor is famous for its verdant environs and for a variety of wildflowers and birds. Coonoor provides a perfect setting for activities like trekking and hiking. It is also famous for its tea plantations and festivals.

This is an unusual park-cum-botanical garden that was developed around the natural contours of the land more than a hundred years ago by Mr. J.D. Sims and Major Murray in the year of 1874.Naturally occurring trees, shrubs and creepers are in the park as are many unusual species of plants that have been brought in from a variety of places around the world. This is a natural garden. Inside the park there are some beautiful terrace with colorful flower beds, lawns and rockeries also there are some Naturally occurring trees, shrubs, creepers and many unusual species of plants that have been brought from a variety of places around the world. The garden as some rare economic trees like Rudraksh- bead tree, Cinnamomum, Queensland karry pine, a handsome ornamental tree and graceful trees like Araucaria, Quercus, Phoenix, Magnolia, Pine, Turpentine, Tree ferns, Camellia this is all are as many attractions in this park. There is a glass house housing different ornamental plants and flowers. On the other side of the park rose garden are maintained. This park has more than 1000 species of 255 generas belonging to 85 families widely covering different group of plants.
The Nilgiris has a unique tropical mountain climate, so the garden has the ideal climatic conditions for growing flowers and trees. Temperature variation is less and the rainfall distribution is uniform in the locale, which results in a long flowering season. The garden is visited by thousands of tourists throughout the year and even in winter. The natural shola with winding footpaths all over the higher slopes of the park is the most distinctive and picturesque are the main feature of this park. At the head of the gardens the well kept lawns, the artistically laid out ornamental beds, looking beautiful and lacking no wealth of the flowering plants or shrub in great variety and colour are great feasts to the eyes.

The Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint is 10 km from Coonoor. It not only provides a panoramic view of the vast expanse of the Nilgiri Hills but also of Catherine Falls.
Lamb’s Rock
On the way to Dolphin's Nose, about 5½ km from Coonoor, lies Lamb's Rock, another vantage point to view the fantastic landscape and the tea and coffee plantations.
Droog Fort
At a distance of 13 km from Coonoor, the Droog takes one into the past, with the ruins of a fort, which was once used by Tipu Sultan in the 18th century (Pakasuran Malai).
Law's Falls
The majestic falls are 5 km from Coonoor, on the way to Mettupalayam.
Ooty
The hill station of Ooty, also known as the Queen of Hill Stations is 19 km northwest of Coonoor. Ooty is an immensely popular tourist destination. Like Coonoor, Ooty is also set amongst the green setting of the Nilgiri hills and has many lakes, gardens, and buildings featuring colonial architecture.

The main place of attraction is the power station which supplies a power of 1000KW near Selas.
Pasteur Institute
Tourists require a special permission to visit this institute. It is located near Sim’s park and was started in 1907. This institute develops vaccination for rabies (dog bite disease) and Triple Vaccine (DPT, DT & TT). In earlier days, it played a vital role in the research of Influenza vaccine. Now it produces Tissue Culture Anti Rabies Vaccine (TCARV) and the DPT group of vaccines.
