Life in China: GUSHAN MOUNTAIN, SUGAR CANE &TEMPLES
I typically spend my time sightseeing around Fuzhou but I took this weekend to go a little further out. A fellow teacher and I took a bus to Drum Mountain, or Gu Shan, in the Jin'an Province of Fujian and it was great!
P.S. Sorry about the background music; before I realized it may've been too loud, I was already halfway through loading it. And let's just say that uploading a video on here is a lot of work.

Drum Mountain (Gu Shan)
Covering an area of 17000 square meters, Yongquan Temple (Chinese:涌泉寺) is a grand complex consisting of 25 halls in styles of Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). Paintings on ceilings of halls are gorgeous, and numerous bright patterns painted in Qing Dynasty just decorate the central hall of the temple, the Great Budda's Hall. Patterns include dragons, cranes, kylins, white horses, elephants, apes and the like. Yongquan Temple once was a key Buddhist classics publisher in the history, and over 20000 carving boards are still well-preserved and over 27900 volumes of ancient edition are collected in the Scripture-stored Hall in the temple. Therefore, it is a temple titled as a treasure of Buddhist Sutras. A dagaba with three Sharipu and a tooth relic of the Buddha also cherished in the Scripture-stored Hall. Free Life Pond of the temple was originally built in Song Dynasty during Shaoxing Period (1131-1161), in which now are more than 100 tortoises and red carps including a oldest tortoise over 1000 years old. It is said that in its best days, the number of monks in Yongquan Temple reaches 1500 and today four huge boilers made in Song Dynasty still can be visted in the temple, of which the largest one regarded as a boiler for 1000 people that can boil 5 dans rice melt with 20 dans water (dan is a Chinese unit of weight, and one dan equals 50 kilograms),

Xi'an guyue 西安鼓乐 from Shaanxi, northwest China
A performance of Xi'an Guyue The title of the piece being performed in this video is unknown.
Performed by the Dongcang Drum Music Society Probably filmed at the Tang Paradise (大唐芙蓉园), a 165-acre theme park located near Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Da Yan Ta, 大雁塔) in Beilin District (碑林区), Xi'an (西安市), Shaanxi province (陕西省), northwest China, c. November 26, 2015.
Xi'an Guyue (西安鼓乐) is a genre of traditional ensemble music used primarily for ceremonial purposes in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, northwest China. It is believed to be of great antiquity and is often called a living fossil of Chinese music It is written down using an archaic system of musical notation and the repertoire comprises about 3,000 pieces. The tradition was nearly lost during the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 1970s.
In 2006 Xi'an Guyue was included in the first installment of 518 traditions inscribed in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China (第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录) by China's State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH, 国家文物局), an agency under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture (中华人民共和国文化部) that was formerly known as the State Cultural Relics Bureau (国家文物局文化部).
In 2007 Xi'an guyue, centering on the Shaanxi Institute of Arts (陕西省艺术研究所) in Xi'an, was further included as the first of 145 traditions in the First Batch of the Shaanxi Province Intangible Cultural Heritage List (陕西省第一批非物质文化遗产名录).
In 2009 Xi'an guyue was inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
More information about this ensemble:

Emei Shan, Sichuan, Part2 - China Travel Channel
The Wannian Temple is the oldest surviving temple on Mount. Emei. Among the over 200 temples that existed at one time, only 20 still remain today. The rest were mainly destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.
The 3099 m high Mount Emei, also called Da Guang Ming Shan (Mountain of Great Light), is in the central Chinese province of Sichuan. The Wannian Temple is a little different than other temples.
Also known as the Temple of Eternity, or actually the Temple of 10,000 Years, since 10,000 is the highest number in the Chinese numerical system, the Wannian Temple demonstrates strong Indian influences. The Wannian Temple was originally called Puxian- or Samantabhadra-Temple. The bronze statue of the bodhisattva Puxian, placed upon a life-sized elephant with 6 teeth, towers above the landscape of this magnificent garden temple.
The statue of Puxian dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1112), is 3.64 m tall and weighs 62 tons.
