Dubai Spice Souk or the Old Souk is a traditional market in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Spice Souk is located in eastern Dubai, in Deira and is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk. The Spice Souk, situated on Baniyas Street, is in the locality of Al Ras. The souk comprises several narrow lanes which are lined with open and closed-roof stores.

The Spice Souk is a traditional Arab marketplace selling a range of spices, herbs, incense and other products. This is the best place to come for Arab dates - there are many shops that sell them but hunt around and get the best price and remember to haggle - its the local custom. A must visit when in Dubai!

1) The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft) and a roof height of 828 m (2,717 ft), the Burj Khalifa has been the tallest structure and building in the world since its topping out in late 2008.

Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith, of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, whose firm designed the Willis Tower and One World Trade Center.
It contains a total of 57 elevators and 8 escalators.

Critical reception to Burj Khalifa has been generally positive, and the building has received many awards. There were complaints concerning migrant workers from South Asia who were the primary building labor force. These centered on low wages and the practice of confiscating passports until duties were complete. Several suicides were reported.

2)The Dubai Fountain is the world's largest choreographed fountain system. It is set on the 30-acre man made Burj Khalifa Lake, at the center of the Downtown Dubai development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by WET Design, the California-based company responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors, it is 275 m (902 ft) long and shoots water up to 500 ft (152.4 m) (equal to two football fields) into the air accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music.[3] It was built at a cost of USD $218 million.

The name of the fountain was chosen after a contest organized by the developer Emaar Properties, the result of which was announced on 26 October 2008. Testing of the fountain began in February 2009, and the fountain was officially inaugurated on 8 May 2009 along with the The Dubai Mall.

3)The Dubai Mall (دبي مول‎ ) is a shopping mall in Dubai and the second-largest mall in the world by total land area, and the 21st-largest shopping mall in the world by gross leasable area. Located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, it is part of the 20-billion-dollar Downtown complex, and includes 1,200 shops. In 2011 it was the most visited building on the planet, attracting over 54 million visitors each year.


4)The Heritage Village was created in 1997 in Al Shindagha Historical Neighborhood, to embrace the heritage events and to display a live image of the old traditional life in UAE. It represents the components of wild, marine, and mountain life, the visitor can identify closely the old traditional customs of the country and the special characteristics of old houses, handicrafts, patterns, and forms of living. It is owned and managed by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

Dubai Spice Souk (سوق التوابل‎) or the Old Souk is a traditional market or souk in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This was visited by hundreds of tourists every day because it is one of historical place in Dubai which is now a modern city.

Since before, when I first experienced riding in Abra, i told myself i want to return to try it again.
But the first time I roamed around the old souq to take some photos, I told myself, I will return to this place to make a short video. I love talking to people working there, they are kind and very much happy about the products they are selling. They love cameras as well. They may even asked you to take photos of them. This is a very nice place. You will see different kinds of SPICES, and Manmade Bags, Shoes, Pashmina. You can see also some antique items. Nowadays if you think of Dubai, it is a modern city with tall buildings in different shapes BUT this place was PRESERVED for more than 50 years.

Come and see this video and after that, I encurage you to try to go to this place.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's take a deep breath as we step into the narrow alleyways of the Spice Souk, located in Deira, the old neighborhood in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Let's savour the atmosphere and aroma of the past as we are introduced to the mounds of aromatic herbs and spices spilling from large baskets at every turn. We will find bags of spices, incense, rose petals and traditional medicinal products stacked outside each stall. If you're looking to buy, bargaining is the norm in the souks - and even in shops you should ask for the best price, particularly when paying cash, which is the most common way to pay.
Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

Dubai Creek and Spice Market - Dubai 4K Travel Channel

Along the Dubai Creek, once developed the historic Dubai. One of the biggest construction project which is now implemented in Dubai, is the creation of another access to the sea in the south of of the city. Therefore, the Dubai Creek is redirected around the Burj Khalifa and extended by means of an artificial sea access.
Close to the Dubai Creek you find the traditional Gold Souk and the ancient Spice Market (Spice Souk).
Arriving at the port, we observe the Abras and Water bus, like the little ferry across the Dubai creek are called. Of particular interest are the dhows, the traditional sailing vessels. Still today they are used for trade, mainly with the other emirates as well as with Iran, which is just 150 kilometers away on the other side of the Persian Gulf.
We take a dhow, which was rebuilt for tourist purposes and sail through the Creek. The contrast between classical dhows and modern skyscrapers in the background could not be bigger and somewhat reminds us of Aberdeen Harbor in Hong Kong.
With one of the staff from the traffic operation we talk for a while about his life in Dubai. He comes from the Philippines and is in Dubai since 7 months. On the whole, he seems to be content.
Afterwards we visit the ancient Spice Market (Spice Souk), whose buildings belong to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Soon we are ask by a seller to visit his shop. He explains us the individual spices in detail until we buy something. We go on, but the game recurs soon.
For us it's time to go. At the bus stop, which fortunately are all are air-conditioned in Dubai, our Philippine friend thinks that we should go to another metro station because of traffic jams. It would be rush hour now. In the meantime, we are a little nervous, because no bus arrives for a long time and we should be at the airport. Finally it arrived, but before the desired metro station the bus stuck in a traffic jam. We had to walk one bus station back to another metro station, in the hope that our ticket would also be valid here. (We possibly had not sufficient small change and did not want to struggle with another ticket machine). After out ticket was accepted, we are happy to go to the airport and to reach our plane on time.
With a last glance from the airbus A380 at the skyline of Dubai we leave the city.

Entlang des Dubai Creek entwickelte sich einst das historische Dubai. Eines der größten Bauvorhaben das heute in Dubai realisiert wird, ist die Schaffung eines weiteren Meereszugangs im Süden Dubais. Dabei wird der Dubai Creek um den Burj Khalifa herumgeführt und mittels eines künstlichen Meereszugangs verlängert. Außerdem befinden sich am Dubai Creek der traditiAm Hafen angekommen beobachten wir erst einmal die Abras und Wasserbusse, wie die kleinen Fähren über den Dubai Creek genannt werden. Besonders interessant finden wir die Dhaus, die traditionellen Lastensegler. Noch heute wird mit ihnen Handel betrieben, vornehmlich mit den anderen Emiraten aber auch mit dem Iran, der nur 150 Kilometer entfernt auf der anderen Seite des persischen Golfs liegt.
Wir nehmen eine Dhau, welche für touristische Zwecke umgebaut wurde und fahren damit einmal durch den Creek. Der Kontrast zwischen klassischen Dhaus und modernen Hochhäusern im Hintergrund könnte größer nicht sein und erinnert etwas an Aberdeen Harbor in Hongkong.
Mit einem Angestellten der Verkehrsbetriebe unterhalten wir uns eine Weile über sein Leben in Dubai. Er stammt von den Philippinen und ist seit 7 Monaten hier. Im Großen und Ganzen scheint er zufrieden zu sein.
Im Anschluss daran besuchen wir den alten Gewürzmarkt (Spice Souk), dessen Gebäude zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe zählen.
Doch rasch werden wir von einem Verkäufer in seinen Laden gebeten, der uns detailliert die einzelnen Gewürze erklärt, solange, bis man etwas bei ihm kauft. Wir gehen weiter, doch bald wiederholt sich das Spiel.
Für uns ist es Zeit zu gehen. An der Bushaltestelle, die in Dubai glücklicherweise alle klimatisiert sind, meint unser philippinischer Freund, dass wir zu einer anderen Metro Station wegen Staus fahren sollten. Er wäre jetzt Stoßzeit. In der Zwischenzeit werden wir etwas nervös, weil lange kein Bus kam und wir schon am Flughafen sein sollten. Endlich kommt einer, doch bevor wir die gewünschte Metrostation erreichen steckt auch dieser im Stau fest. Wir laufen eine Busstation zu einer anderen Metrostation zurück, in der Hoffnung, dass auch hier unser Ticket gelten würde. ( Wir haben möglicherweise nicht mehr genügend Kleingeld und wollen uns nicht mit weiteren Automaten herumärgern ). Nachdem dies der Fall ist, fahren wir glücklich zum Flughafen und erreichen auch pünktlich unser Flugzeug.
Mit einem letzten Blick aus einem Airbus A380 auf die Skyline Dubais verlassen wir die Stadt.

Spice Souk & Market in Dubai, UAE | Review

Today i visited the Spice Souk in the old-time commercial heart of Dubai called, Deira. Wandering through the narrow alleyways of this very old market is a fascinating journey into the world of color and aroma. Every stall has mounds of different kinds of spices including traditional medicinal products, incense and even rose petals. This is a no frills attached kind of a place and is starkly different from the Dubai of today but totally worth a visit.
