Dublin Castle TOUR | Walking in Dublin Ireland
Dublin Castle (Irish: Caisleán Bhaile Átha Cliath) is a major Irish government complex, conference centre, and tourist attraction. It is located off Dame Street in Dublin, Ireland.
Until 1922 it was the seat of the British government's administration in Ireland. Most of the current construction dates from the 18th century, though a castle has stood on the site since the days of King John, the first Lord of Ireland. The Castle served as the seat of English, then later British, government of Ireland under the Lordship of Ireland (1171–1541), the Kingdom of Ireland (1541–1800), and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (1800–1922).
After the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in December 1921, the complex was ceremonially handed over to the newly formed Provisional Government led by Michael Collins.[1] It now hosts the inauguration of each President of Ireland and various State receptions.
The castle was built by the dark pool (Dubh Linn) which gave Dublin its name. This pool lies on the lower course of the River Poddle before its confluence with the River Liffey; when the castle was built, the Liffey was much wider, and the castle was effectively defended by both rivers. The Poddle today runs under the complex.

Travel Dublin, Ireland - The Dublin Castle
Take a tour of Dublin Castle in Ireland -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Dublin is a schizophrenic city, where you can find historic buildings right next to modern ones.
No building personifies this better than Dublin Castle, which can't make up its mind.
It has parts from the medieval ages, the 18th century, and the 20th century.
The castle has long been an important place for the government in Dublin and is designed accordingly.
The interior is famous for its decoration, including its Waterford crystal chandeliers.
An impressive landmark, the Dublin Castle is a jewel of the great city of Dublin.

In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, Dublin Castle was handed over to the new Irish government. It is now a major government complex and a key tourist attraction.
Open seven days a week from 9:45 to 17:45 (last admission at 17:15). Tickets can be purchased on site at the Castle’s visitor reception desk in the State Apartments (upper courtyard)

Dublin castle tour| Ireland
Inside Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland
A guided tour in the rooms of the Castle. Dublin Castle was originally built as a defensive fortification for the Norman city of Dublin, it later evolved into a royal residence, resided in by the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland or Viceroy of Ireland, the representative of the monarch of the English Throne .
Upon formation of the Free State in 1922, the castle assumed for a decade the role of the Four Courts on the Liffey quays which had been badly damaged during the Civil War.
It was decided in 1938 that the inauguration of the first President of Ireland, Douglas Hyde would take place in the castle, and the complex has been host to this ceremony ever since. The castle is also used for hosting official State visits as well as more informal foreign affairs engagements, State banquets, and Government policy launches, as well as acting as the central base for Ireland's hosting of the European Presidency approximately every 10 years.

-Dublin is the capital of and largest city in Ireland. Dublin is located in the province of Leinster on the east coast of Ireland, at the mouth of the River Liffey and bordered on the South by the Wicklow Mountains. The city has an urban area population of 1,173,179. The population of the Dublin Region, as of 2016, was 1,347,359 people, and the population of the Greater Dublin area was 1,904,806. There is archaeological debate regarding precisely where Dublin was established by Celtic-speaking people in the 7th century. Later expanded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.

Rebuilt in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, Dublin Castle is now used for important State receptions and Presidential Inaugurations. The State Apartments, Undercroft, Chapel Royal, Craft Shop, Heritage Centre and Restaurant are open to visitors.
DUBLIN CASTLE: Its History and Unsolved Mystery!
Dublin Castle dates back to the 18th century but a castle has stood here since the early 13th century. It was originally built for defensive measures but later became a royal residence, which you can see inside. It also once served as a military garrison and was part of the Easter Rising of 1916. Irish presidents are inaugurated here. An unsolved mystery took place here-the Irish Crown Jewels were stolen and as you can see in the video, there is a theory as to why no one was ever arrested for the crime.
