A Look Inside The Central Los Angeles Public Library
The historic Central Library Goodhue building was constructed in 1926 and is a Downtown Los Angeles landmark. The Richard Riordan Central Library complex is the third largest public library in the United States in terms of book and periodical holdings. Originally named the Central Library, the building was first renamed in honor of the longtime president of the Board of Library Commissioners and President of the University of Southern California, Rufus B. von KleinSmid. The new wing of Central Library, completed in 1993, was named in honor of former mayor Tom Bradley. The complex (i.e., the original Goodhue building and the Bradley wing) was subsequently renamed in 2001 for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, as the Richard Riordan Central Library.
The Central Library was extensively renovated and expanded in a Modernist/Beaux-Arts architecture, according to Norman Pfeiffer, the principal architect of the renovation by Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates from 1988 through 1993. It included an enormous, eight-story atrium wing dedicated to former mayor Tom Bradley. Now, the library contains an area of 538,000 square feet, and has nearly 89 miles of shelves and seating for over 1,400 people.

Lead by Heather Gass, concerned citizens were irate with this propose plan and the unfair and manipulative manor in which the meetings are conducted - known as the Delphi Technique.
Agenda 21 is the Master Plan put forth by the United Nations in 1992 and adopted by President Bill Clinton. Agenda 21 is a green initiative which targets cars and people living outside from cities who must commute. Their goal is to develop large, congested city centers for people to reside, and provide mass transit for the city dwellers to commute to work. It also targets large parcels of land in the world, including the United States, to be redistricted to open space land, thereby making it undevelopable.
Agenda 21 was readily adopted in California by liberal politicians, specifically in the San Francisco Bay Area, under the name Plan Bay Area. Plan Bay Area's goal is to develop large congested downtown metro areas, with shops, stores, theaters, and mass high rise housing. They aim to get people out of their private suburban residences and cars, and warehouse them in these large metro areas. These areas will also house California's large illegal immigrant population.

San Francisco (Spanish for Saint Francis), officially City and County of San Francisco and colloquially known as SF or The City, Alternatively known as San Fran, is a city in—and the cultural, commercial, and financial center of—Northern California. San Francisco is the 13th most populous city in the United States, and the fourth most populous in California, with 883,305 residents as of 2018. It covers an area of about 46.89 square miles (121.4 km2), mostly at the north end of the San Francisco Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area, making it the second most densely populated large U.S. city, and the fifth most densely populated U.S. county, behind only four of the five New York City boroughs. San Francisco is the 12th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the United States, with 4,729,484 people in 2018. With San Jose, it forms the fifth most populous combined statistical area in the United States, the San Jose–San Francisco–Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area (9.67 million residents in 2018).
As of 2017, it was the seventh-highest income county in the United States, with a per capita personal income of $119,868. As of 2015, San Francisco proper had a GDP of $154.2 billion, and a GDP per capita of $178,479. The CSA San Francisco shares with San Jose and Oakland was the country's third-largest urban economy as of 2017, with a GDP of $907 billion. Of the 500+ primary statistical areas in the U.S., this CSA had among the highest GDP per capita in 2017, at $93,938. San Francisco was ranked 16th in the world and third in the United States on the Global Financial Centres Index as of March 2019.
San Francisco was founded on June 29, 1776, when colonists from Spain established Presidio of San Francisco at the Golden Gate and Mission San Francisco de Asís a few miles away, all named for St. Francis of Assisi. The California Gold Rush of 1849 brought rapid growth, making it the largest city on the West Coast at the time. San Francisco became a consolidated city-county in 1856. San Francisco's status as the West Coast's largest city peaked between 1870 and 1900, when around 25% of California's population resided in the city proper. After three-quarters of the city was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire, San Francisco was quickly rebuilt, hosting the Panama-Pacific International Exposition nine years later. In World War II, San Francisco was a major port of embarkation for service members shipping out to the Pacific Theater. It then became the birthplace of the United Nations in 1945.

Here We Stand
Here We Stand is an evening of readings and reflections paying tribute to the resilience and cultural richness of the black community in West Philadelphia. The title comes from Paul Robeson’s autobiographical book, Here I Stand, where the artist and activist provides a candid account of his political views and engages the reader in considering how black liberation can exist in the midst of racial oppression enacted by the United States government and those in support of white supremacy.
In the spirit of Paul Robeson’s 1920’s salons, join Blue Stoop, ICA, and the Paul Robeson House & Museum for an evening of readings and reflections by acclaimed fiction writers Zinzi Clemmons and Asali Solomon, activist Mike Africa Jr., and filmmaker Louis Massiah as they reflect upon West Philadelphia through their work. The program concludes with refreshments and a dance party with musical selections provided by DJ John “The Liberator” Morrison.
Admission to the event is FREE. Blue Stoop, the Paul Robeson House & Museum, and Hakim’s Bookstore will provide opportunities to purchase various publications, including works by the speakers, and special edition prints. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Paul Robeson House & Museum mortgage fund and Blue Stoop scholarship fund.
ICA Gather is a program series dedicated to engaging in collaborative projects with community members and organizations throughout Philadelphia.
Mike Africa Jr. is a member of MOVE, a black revolutionary organization committed to social and environmental justice. He is a conscious hip hop artist and motivational speaker whose message focuses on the resiliency of the human spirit. Africa takes a multi-modal approach to his presentations, combining music and performance to create a dynamic encounter with the audience. He is the son of Mike Africa Sr. and Debbie Africa, who are also members of MOVE and are a part of a group known as the MOVE 9, which consists of nine members of the organization that served time in prison for the alleged murder of a police officer.
Zinzi Clemmons completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University and received her MFA from Columbia University. Her debut novel, What We Lose (Viking, 2017), is loosely based on her experience as the primary caregiver for her mother during her bout with cancer. The book received numerous accolades including “Debut Novel of the Year” by Vogue, the Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize, the International Dublin Literary Award, and longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. She is a National Book Award 5 Under 35 honoree. Clemmons was raised in Philadelphia and currently resides in Culver City, California.
Louis Massiah is an independent filmmaker who explores historical and political subjects. His producing and directing credits include Trash (1985), The Bombing of Osage Avenue (1986), Cecil B. Moore (1987), W.E.B. Du Bois: A Biography in Four Voices (1995), and Louise Alone Thompson Patterson: In Her Own Words (2002). He also produced two films for the PBS series, Eyes on the Prize II ( 1990). In addition to his film work, Massiah founded the Scribe Video Center, a West Philadelphia-based media arts organization that provides training and equipment access to emerging filmmakers and community organizations. Massiah is a graduate of Cornell University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, receiving a degree in documentary filmmaking.
Asali Solomon spent her formative years in West Philadelphia and continues to call the area home today. In 2002, she received her doctorate in English from the University of California at Berkeley, and later earned an MFA in writing from the University of Iowa. Solomon is the author of the novel Disgruntled ( Picador, 2016), which was cited as one of the best books of 2015 by the San Francisco Chronicle and the Denver Post. The short stories in her first book, Get Down (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2008) earned her a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and recognition as a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree. She is currently an Associate Professor at Haverford College, serving as the Chair of the Englsih Department and Director of Creative Writing.

Hayward Library History
This film by Jannah is about the Hayward Library in Hayward, CA. The film also shows what the new library is going to look like after they tear down the old one. It also goes into great detail about the history of the library from current librarians.
The American History Film Project is an multi-disciplinary educational project that teaches students to research, write, plan, act, film and edit a short film about the history of their local community, and then share it with other kids across the USA.
.
Long Description
By the end of the project students will have created a short film (under 10 minutes) to share with their school, their local community and other schools across the United States.
Through the American History Film Project, students, under the direction of an adult, will learn to work together as a team towards this common goal.
Through working on this project, students will learn history in a hands-on approach.
The American History Film Project will give each student the chance to find some of their own abilities. Some students will be better at acting, others writing, yet others, behind the scenes doing everything from filming and editing, budgeting and prop management.
By connecting with other schools across the country, students will learn the importance of their own community in the whole of United States.
The American History Film Project is open to any school (public or private) home school co-op or after school program (YMCA, or Boys and Girls Clubs, for example) that would like to participate.

Virtual Tour #9 - Walking SF - St Patrick day Party | Phelan building to City Hall [ VR 4K 360° ]
Party is at 19:27 and 22:20 FYI
360° Walking in SF during St Patrick day Parade and after Party at San Francisco City Hall | Phelan Building to Civic Center walk | Unedited | no music
The awesome 360 video is a 25 min walk shooted on insta360 camera walking on Market street. Crossing tenderloin, and going to civic center
The Phelan Building is an 11-story office building located at 760 Market Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. It has a triangular shape reminiscent of the Flatiron Building in Manhattan, New York City, with its tip at the meeting point of Market Street, O’Farrell Street, and Grant Avenue. It is a San Francisco Designated Landmark.
The building was designed by William Curlett and built in 1908 by James D. Phelan on the place of the first, original Phelan Building, damaged by the 1906 earthquake and fire. It was once home to the George Haas and Sons Candy Store, marketed as the most beautiful candy shop in the country. Their business also operated a tea room on the second floor.
San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco, California. Re-opened in 1915 in its open space area in the city's Civic Center, it is a Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917. The structure's dome is taller than that of the United States Capitol by 42 feet. The present building replaced an earlier City Hall that was destroyed during the 1906 earthquake, which was two blocks from the present one. It was bounded by Larkin Street, McAllister Street, and City Hall Avenue (a street, now built over, which ran from the corner of Grove and Larkin to the corner of McAllister and Leavenworth), largely where the current public library and U.N. Plaza stand today.
The Civic Center in San Francisco, California, is an area of a few blocks north of the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue that contains many of the city's largest government and cultural institutions. It has two large plazas (Civic Center Plaza and United Nations Plaza) and a number of buildings in classical architectural style. The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (formerly the Exposition Auditorium), the United Nations Charter was signed in the War Memorial Veterans Building's Herbst Theatre in 1945, leading to the creation of the United Nations. It is also where the 1951 Treaty of San Francisco (the peace treaty that officially ended the Pacific War with the Empire of Japan, which had surrendered in 1945) was signed. The San Francisco Civic Center was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places on October 10, 1978.
The Tenderloin is a neighborhood in downtown San Francisco, California, in the flatlands on the southern slope of Nob Hill, situated between the Union Square shopping district to the northeast and the Civic Center office district to the southwest. It encompasses about 50 square blocks, is a large wedge/triangle in shape (point faces East). It is historically bounded on the north by Geary Street, on the east by Mason Street, on the south by Market Street and on the west by Van Ness Avenue. The northern boundary with Lower Nob Hill historically has been set at Geary Street.
