Jameson Whiskey Distillery Tour Dublin Ireland
Jameson was kind enough to offer us a private tour of their retired distillery in Dublin Ireland. We're joined by Niall who walked us through the history, passion, hard work, and dedication, that made Jameson the brand it is today.
The atmosphere in the lobby is intoxicatingly welcoming. As you walk in, you're surrounded with architectural wonders from the ceiling to the floor.
To the right is an astounding bar area filled with brick and character. To the left, is a gift shop and a fill your own bottle of limited edition Jameson pouring straight from the cask.
The floor filled with glass showing the old tunnels and runways in the basement of the distillery.
As you walk through the history of the craft, you start with the grains. It was backbreaking work to move and prepare the grains to start germinating. They were soaked for two days before being laid out in a hot humid room to trick them into thinking it's sprint time to germinate.
Then germinated grains and un germinated grains are mixed and ground into grist. Then this grist is added to water and beat around in the mash tun to release their natural sugars. When that's complete, the mash is moved over to the wash-back where they sit for the next 60 hours. Yeast is added and the mixture begins producing alcohol.
After the 60 hours, the mixture is ready to be distilled. Jameson had decided at that time it would add a third distillation process before their whiskeys were added to the casks. Then, after the whiskey has aged, it's time to blend the sherry, port, and bourbon cask whiskey.
As you walk through the history of the craft, you admire how much thought, work, and patience would go into making every bottle. Finally before you go, a sampling of a few different whiskeys, and finally you can sit and enjoy a Jameson prepared the way you want it.
This place is a must to visit if you're traveling!

Welcome to Dublin, Ireland!
Deriving from the term uisce beatha – meaning ‘water of life’ – even the word whiskey has Gaelic roots. One of Europe’searliest distilled beverages, the first record of Irish whiskey dates back to 1405, around 90 years before it was first recorded in Scotland. After a period of decline during the 20th century, Irish whiskey is now the fastest growing spirit in the world.

OLD JAMESON WHISKEY DISTILLERY TOUR IN DUBLIN IRELAND-Sláinte!
We took the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery tour on Bow St. in Dublin, Ireland where we learned the interesting history of the Old Jameson Distillery, including learning about its founder, John Jameson, and his sons. We also were shown how Jameson Whiskey is produced. Of course, the highlight of the tour was participating in some taste testing and getting a free glass of whiskey. I also bought a bottle of Jameson to bring home. As they say in Ireland: Sláinte!

Dublin Trip (Day 3) Jameson Whiskey Tasting
On our final day of the trip we check out the Jameson Distillery and do the tasting tour.
First we walked through the National Botanical Gardens and have lunch at Gravediggers which was featured on Anthony Bourdain's TV show.
It was a great little place and the food was the best he had in Dublin. The Cottle is Highly recommended!
After Jameson we walked over to The Brazen Head pub which is the oldest pub in Dublin dating back to 1198. We had food and drinks which were great!
Lastly, we had our final dinner at a spot called The Bank which has great atmosphere and great food. Definitely check it out if you are in Dublin.

On the first full day in Dublin, Ireland, and where is the first place a Taste Tourer heads? The Irish Whiskey Museum, of course! This museum is about a 45 minute tour through different rooms and settings, where a very knowledgeable and informative guide tells all about the differences between Irish and other whiskies, other types of Irish alcohol, etc. Then, the tasting portion! This includes 4 Irish whiskies (for the VIP access, which of course was well worth 3 extra euros!) - Powers Gold Label, Teeling, The Irishman, and Tullamore Dew 12 Year Special Reserve! We hope you enjoy our little tour through this museum - as the Irish say, Sláinte!

Whisky Tasting at Jameson Distillery in Dublin, Ireland
25 things to do in Dublin Travel Guide
So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland.

Our visit Dublin travel guide covers some of the top attractions including the best in arts, entertainment, museums, nightlife and restaurants. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Dublin city guide.
25 things to do in Dublin Ireland | Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Trinity College was founded in 1592 and it is the oldest university in Ireland. The campus is open to visitors interested in touring the grounds, and you'll also get to hear some fascinating stories of famous students, including the likes of Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Bram Stoker.
The Guinness Storehouse is Dublin's most popular attraction, and it's a must-visit for beer lovers. The Storehouse covers seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. Inside you'll also find a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness on the brewery site - they won't be going anywhere for a while!
Grafton Street is one of the main shopping areas in Dublin. You're likely to find lots of musicians, buskers, and performers along here, plus you get a good vantage point of The Spire.
Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no place of their own to bury their dead. This burial ground gave both Irish Catholics and Protestants a place where they could give their dead dignified burial, and it has since become the resting place for people of all religions and non religions.
Experience Gaelic Games is a place where you can come and try traditional Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football.
The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. It is now a visitor centre that offers both guided tours and whiskey tastings.
Temple Bar is an area known for its lively nightlife. Located on the southbank of the River Liffey, you'll find all sorts of pubs playing live music once the sun goes down. There's also one pub in Temple Bar, called The Temple Bar, but don't let that confuse you.
And that's a wrap for our time in Dublin! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it gave you a few ideas of what the city has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in Dublin as a visitor, feel free to share them in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!
This is part of our Travel in Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish foods & Irish cuisine.

???????? The Spirit of Dublin (Teeling Distillery)
Josh and I left the Dublin Castle and went straight to the Teeling Distillery to experience the Spirit of Dublin. We were able to use our Dublin Pass here to get in. We were really craving a beer so we asked the lady if we get a drink before the tour of after, and she said after. So, since our tour didn't even start for another 20 minutes we went to the bar to get a local brew.
Josh was supposed to get paid but there was a fire at one of Wells Fargo's buildings and they shut down nationwide. Crazy.
After the tour we went back to the Airbnb to pack because the next morning we were heading back to America. All great things must come to an end...
