Dubrovnik Running Tour | Here We Are Running
During a trip to Dubrovnik, I decided the best way to do some running along some of the best running routes, was to take part in a guided running tour. As well as a fantastic 10K run, I was shown around the Old Town and learnt a lot about the history of Dubrovnik. If you are visitng Croatia, I'd highly recommend doing the Dubrovnik Running Tour.

DUBROVNIK TRAVEL VLOG | VISITING GAME OF THRONES FILMING LOCATIONS + KINGS LANDING!
So we recently returned from an incredible 3 nights in Dubrovnik, Croatia and we had such an amazing time! I fell head over heels with Old Town (The Walled City) or Kings Landing as it is sometimes referred too! ;) Visiting some of the Game Of Thrones filming locations was brilliant, I definitely recommend a Game Of Thrones Tour in Dubrovnik for anyone thinking of visiting.
Another highlight was walking Dubrovnik's city walls - the views are breathtaking especially so at sunset! We also loved our sunset cruise and dinner on the Karaka boat, it was magical!
We stayed at the Bellevue hotel whilst there (a 15 min walk from Old Town or a bus ride away) and I can't recommend the hotel enough. We booked it based on how modern and clean it looked and how good the reviews on TripAdvisor were and we were not disappointed! The staff were so friendly, the hotel itself was clean and modern and the views were stunning!

Hi I'm Alex! I started writing a blog back in 2013 as a way to capture my thoughts, feelings and emotions as I married my childhood sweetheart and we had our first child. I'm now a Mum of two little boys (Ethan & Logan) and I've continued writing, photographing and videoing ever since as a way to remember all of the little details that make up this amazing journey of Motherhood.
Dubrovnik Old Town in The Dead of Winter-Fantastic!
Visiting Dubrovnik Old Town in the dead of winter, you not only miss the hordes of crowds, it's so much more peaceful because you have the place almost to yourselves.

My wife and I had a very good time in Old Town, it was cold but what a fantastic time we had.
Also, as we had a friend connection in Dubrovnik, we had our own tour guide for a day, and Mikki took us to places a lot of tourist will never see. Plus we got a continual running dialog of history, the war and the ways of life of Croatians in general. Thanks Mikki Kojakovik! It was a splendid day!
The only pitfall we came across during our visit, was the fact, so many restaurants and shops where closed for the winter months. Still, we had a great time. Fantastic in fact. :)

Dubrovnik CROATIA - The Gem of the Mediterranean
Other than being the filming location of Kings Landing from Game of Thrones, I didn't know much about Dubrovnik before arriving. And while I've heard great reviews, I came here straight from weeks in the Greek Islands so I didn't really think anywhere else could compare.
Well I'm sorry to Greece, but Croatia actually blew me away. With similar stunning waters matching those of the Greek Islands but for half the price and half the tourists. Plus mountain vistas seemingly running straight into the harbor of the city. This may be one place that's better in real life than on TV.

One day trip from Dubrovnik to Lokrum
Croatia (Hrvatska) is a country on the Balkan peninsula.
Dubrovnik is a Croatian city on the Adriatic Sea, in the region of Dalmatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea, a seaport and the center of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.Contemporary Dubrovnik is divided into two singular areas: the dense urban center within the city walls and Lokrum Island, a monument to nature and landscape architecture. Although different in character, these two spaces blend harmonically.
The prosperity of the city was historically based on maritime trade; as the capital of the maritime Republic of Ragusa, it achieved a high level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries, as it became notable for its wealth and skilled diplomacy.
Dubrovnik in Croatia is known as filming location of Game Of Thrones.
Game of thrones was filmed on this locations: city walls, St. Dominika street, fort Bokar, Stradun, fort St. Lawrence, Gradac park, hotel Belvedere, Minčeta tower, Trsteno arboretum...
The capital of Croatia is Zagreb. Other popular Croatian tourist destinations are Split, island Hvar, island Brac, island Krk, Pula, island Pag, Opatija, Porec, Zadar, Plitvice lakes, Krka national park, Kornati national park.

Split to Dubrovnik Ferry I Our experience I Things to Consider I Ep3
We had a very chaotic experience while boarding our Split to Dubrovnik ferry. But once boarded, the journey was super comfortable and smooth. This video is about our overall experience in the Split to Dubrovnik ferry plus exploring President beach in Dubrovnik.
When we reached Split harbour early morning, there were 3 Kapitan Luka ferries lined up and even after asking multiple guys in these ferries, no one made it clear which one we needed to board.
After running around for about half an hour between 3 boats with 4 kids in tow, we finally boarded the one that we lined up for when we first arrived. I actually thought we were going to miss our ferry.
But once inside, the ambiance was very good. The journey was super smooth. The kids had a long nap. Even my wife who gets seasick most of the time was comfortable during this trip.
After we reached Dubrovnik and checked into our hotel, I did a quick tour of the nearby President beach, which is a super cute beach that no one should miss while in Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik, Croatia - away from the crowds
Exploring Dubrovnik on foot and by local bus. The old port and the old city. Getting out of the city along the coast, across to Lokrum island and up Mount Srd, the hill behind the city.
Dubrovnik
Croatia has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world since it became an independent country in the early 90’s. Its beautiful coastline and many islands drawing visitors both international and domestic. Its warm Adriatic climate is pleasant from spring though to autumn.
Dubrovnik in the far south of the country receives a good share of tourists with its walled city and beautiful surrounding islands and beaches. Its international airport and cruise liner port bringing in 1.3 million tourists a year.
The city has a population of around 40,000 people but in the summer months this can swell until the old city can suffer from serious over-tourism. In fact even in May when we visited the old city was full from 9 am to 6 pm and we chose to enter the city before and after these times for a more relaxing experience.
The authorities have had to limit the influx from cruise ships as each of these can dump 3000 tourists at a time on the city often in large tour groups. At its worst the city was receiving 13 cruise ships at a time, but now they have been staggered to lessen their impact. The new international airport also seems stretched by the amount of travelers with long queues when leaving the country.
Many of the hotels where tourists stay are situated to the north west of the old city on the Babin Kuk and Lapad peninsula and when they come into the city in bus loads the traffic can really snarl up.
Having said that, the tourists are there for a reason. The city is a really beautiful place, often referred to as the jewel of the Adriatic. If you time your visit to the old city well and spend the busy time outside the walls you can really enjoy your visit.
During the day time we visited Lokrum island, walked down the coast to Sveti Jakov beach (pictured), and walked on the top of the hill behind the city enjoying the panoramic views from the top before walking down the zig zag path back to the city.
If you have more time you can take boat trips further to the islands to the north of the city with half and full day trips running from the old port.
The walls of the old city are one of the main attractions of the old city and you can walk the circular walk in around an hour. There are kiosks to buy drinks if it is hot, and the views across the city and out to Lokrum are really good. The walls cost 200 kr when we were there but it was well worth it. There are passes for the city that might make it cheaper. We went on them 8.30 am when they opened, and at that time they weren’t too busy and you could get photos without feeling you were holding a queue of people up. Hang on to your ticket as you get asked to show it further round the walls.
Our favourite time in the city was early in the morning when the streets were empty and you could wander around the passageways and flights of steps without anyone walking into your photographs. In the evening there were many swallows flying above the city zooming down the canyons of the city walls. Sunset at the port was nice too as there weren’t too many people left by then and you could enjoy the golden colours over the boats and waters.
If you are wanting to get out on the sea, there are many boat trips and you can rent canoes to paddle around the city walls and out to Lokrum which isn’t far.
Lokrum has a regular ferry service from the old port and the island is much quieter than the city with walks around the island and to features such as a beautiful pool called the Dead Sea, a monastery with botanical gardens, and a fort at the top of the island.
Walking in the pine forests with cypress and olive trees in amongst is very relaxing and you can spend a happy few hours here and have a swim at one of the rocky beaches.
If you want to get a view of the city from up high you can go up the hill behind the city to the centuries old Fort Imperial . There is a cable car that used to run, but this was out of service when we were there, so we caught a number 17 bus to the village of Bosanka high on the hill. From here it was a short walk to the top of the hill with stunning panoramas across the bay and beautiful views inland across to the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the top is a pricy but good restaurant where you can stop for a meal before walking down the path back to the old city. Alternatively you can get a taxi or mini bus up to the top from the city.
If you want beaches, there are beaches out on the Babin Kuk peninsula if you are staying there, or closer to the city such as Banje Beach just south east of the old walls which has a good beach bar, or you can walk further to Sveti Jakov for a small beach by a ruined hotel complex.
