Tilt The Bucket open challenge during the 2019 Ballater Highland Games in Aberdeenshire Scotland
Each year at the Ballater Highland Games, competitors in the games and visiting public are encouraged to join in some activities. Always popular of the 'Tilt The Bucket' challenge, where participants have to use a wheelbarrow to try and get a long wooden pole through a hole on the plate, risking a soaking in the process. Most get very wet, but it seems there is a slow technique for the patient.
Scotland the Brave by the Massed pipes & drums during Gordon Castle Highland Games 2019
The Massed Pipe Bands of the Scottish Highlands playing 'Scotland the Brave' as they march in the grounds of Gordon Castle near Fochabers in Moray, Scotland. This was part of the massed pipes and drums displays during the Gordon Castle Highland Games, held on Sunday 19th May 2019.
The bands are led by Drum Major Derek Dean and the bands included Huntly & District Pipe Band, Buckie & District Pipe Band, Dufftown & District Pipe Band, Gordon Highlanders Association Pipe Band, Port Soy Pipe Band, Strathisla Pipe Band and Gordonstoun Schools Pipe Band.

A fun competition for the Drum Majors who enjoy showing their skill with their Mace. The Dufftown Pipe Bands who won the Best Presented Competition are playing for them.

The massed pipes & drums march through Ballater in Royal Deeside, Scotland, to start the 2018 Ballater Highland Games.
The parade is led by Drum Major Ian Esson and the bands were Ballater & District Pipe Band, Towie Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band and Dalhousie Pipe Band from Switzerland. After the parade through the town to Monaltrie Park, Ballater, the flag is raised and the Drum Majors salute the games committee.

Massed Pipes and Drums of the Scottish highlands gather in Deeside for first parade of 2018
First gathering in 2018 of the massed pipes and drums from the Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire, held in Royal Deeside near Braemar. The pipe bands are led by leading Drum Major Roland Stewart of The Lonach pipe band and the the other 10 bands present were Ballater & District Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Inverurie & District, Grampian District Pipes and Drums, Grampian Police Scotland Pipe Band, Granite City Pipes & Drums, Kintore Pipe Band, Towie Pipe Band and the Gordon Highlanders Ass (Aberdeen) Pipe Band.

Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (as Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales and Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall are known when in Scotland) as well as Peter Phillips and his wife, Autumn, arrive at the 2019 Braemar Gathering in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. After being presented with flower bouquets, the massed bands march into the games arena.
Led by leading Drum Major Roland Stuart, the pipe bands were Huntly & District, Fraserburgh RBL, Lower Clyde, Gordonstoun School, Inverurie, Perth & District, Blairgowrie, Ballater & District, Lonach, KIntore, Ellon & District RBL and RAF Central Scotland Pipes & Drums. The tunes are Scotland the Brave, Flett from Flotta and Wings.
Her Majesty is patron of the Highland games event, which are held at The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, a short distance from the royals' summer residence Balmoral. The Games have been run in its present form since 1832, and the always held on the first Saturday of September. Queen Victoria first attended the gathering in 1848 and since then the reigning monarch and other members of the Royal Family have regularly visited.

The bands were led by Drum Majors Michael Binder of Stockbridge Pipe Band, Mike Spain of RAF Central Scotland Pipes & Drums (light blue RAF tartan) and Eve Llewellyn of Camelon & District Pipe Band. Other bands present included Perth & District Pipe Band, Towie & District pipe band, Lochgelly High School Pipe Band, Fraserburgh RBL Pipe Band and the Highlanders, 4 Scots pipes and drums.

Massed pipes & drums parade through town to the 2019 Ballater Highland Games in Scotland
A magnificent sight and sound as Honorary Lead Drum Major Ian Esson leads the combined pipe bands over the river Dee and through Ballater to the 2019 Ballater Highland Games in Aberdeenshire Scotland. The parade salutes the war memorial in the town as they pass the Church.
The Drum Majors are Bill Barclay, Bert Summers, David Rae, Robert Brownfield, Ronnie Rennie, Callum Marr and Fiona Glennie. The bands are Ballater & District Pipe Band, 47th Culter Boys Brigade Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Towie Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band , Dalhousie Pipe Band from Switzerlandand and The Highlanders - 4 SCOTS Pipes & Drums from the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Strongmen take the Nicol Stone carry challenge during 2019 Donald Dinnie Games in Scotland
British strongmen compete in the Nicol Stone Carry challenge during the Donald Dinnie day Games, the gathering III at Potarch Bridge in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Sunday 4th August 2019.
This event requires the athlete to pick up two ringed stones similar to the Dinnie Stones and walk with them as far as possible. The stones are the same height as the legendary Dinnie Stones and weigh 138kg & 114kg. Competitors may put them down once but must restart within 10 seconds. The competitors were Neil Elliott (Scotland), Mark Haydock (England), Lewis McLuckie (Scotland), Jamie Gorrian (Scotland), Dean Kent (England), Andrew (Andy) Cairney (Scotland), Mark Haydock (England) and finally Sean Peatfield (Scotland).

The historic Ballater Highland Games took place today, 8th August, 2013. Superb weather and a high number of tourists visiting the 'Royal Warrant' village of Ballater brought many happy customers to this latest meeting.

Castle Dangerous by Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band Aberdeen played at Aboyne Highland Games in 2019
Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band entertaining visitors to the 2019 Aboyne Highland Games in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 3rd August 2019. Aboyne Games is one of the biggest in Deeside and several local associated Clans take part and have a designated area, which is where the band was playing. The first tune is called 'Castle Dangerous'.
