I missed some important places on the previous ride like Duga Luka and also that new, modern area in Rabac. So I had to go back. And it was another glorious ride. However, up to old Labin, it overlapped with the previous one and while I only explored parts of Brseč and Plomin on this ride, I've decided to edit those into the previous movies.
So, you will not see all of this ride but you will definitely see the most important parts. In two parts. ;) This time, it's from the Old Labin, through the village of Gundulići, down the occasionally bad road, on a great descent to the tiny place of Duga Luka. And while I didn't find a way into the forest in the back of the village, you will surely enjoy the surreal, isolated coastline and crystal-clear, green water. And then the cove.
I hoped the offroad path to Rabac would be great and perhaps it is when you're fresh which I wasn't. So, it was rather... exhausting and I didn't enjoy it at all. Couldn't wait to reach Rabac. And this time, I explored the campsite a bit and went by the huge hotels. You also get to see the starting part of the old promenade from the opposite angle before I jump to the new area. Which proves to be everything I expected Rabac to be in the first place, on my first visit! Sadly, the path is too narrow here, for no obvious reason and it's rather short. But, the area is still developing, new hotels are being built so...
Later, I also manage to explore the hill above Rabac but that's the next movie.

Do you enjoy hard climbs, hard terrain and paths that don't exist? Welcome! After (finally) visiting Duga Luka and that modern, new area in Rabac, it's time to go back to Rijeka. But this time, I decide not to go through Labin but explore the upper Rabac and the hill above it! Actually, the paths above it.
The climb is rather hard, as the most direct street (the only ona up) goes pretty much in a straight line. It's a nice street though and (very) occasionally there's a nice viewspot. But soon after reaching 250 metres you enter a jungle. It starts fairly nice, I'm even able to ride, while climbing to above 300 metres. But it's still tight and soon turns from bad to worse as throny shrubs (even vines) replace any memory of a path. But I do push on and manage to reach the village of Ripenda Kras where you'll find some great views and... road. Which switches back and forth between a very narrow road and an offroad path. With rocks, of course. At least there's a lot of greenery.
But, after a bumpy and slippery torture on the rocks and gravel, comes a prize - the best view of Plomin and the entire valley! And in the perfect light. Then some more torture before I reach Plomin Luka and then the very steep and narrow road directly to Plomin, where I manage to catch the very last rays of sun. At least for that day.
