Dumbarton Bridge (California)
The Dumbarton Bridge is the southernmost of the highway bridges across San Francisco Bay in California. Carrying over 81,000 vehicles and about 118 pedestrian and bicycle crossings daily, it is the shortest bridge across San Francisco Bay at . Its eastern end is in Fremont, near Newark in the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, and its western end is in Menlo Park. Bridging State Route 84 across the bay, it has three lanes each way and a separated bike/pedestrian lane along its south side. Like the San Mateo Bridge to the north, power lines parallel the bridge.
The bridge has never been officially named, but its commonly used name comes from Dumbarton Point, named in 1876 after Dumbarton, Scotland. Built originally to provide a shortcut for traffic originating in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, the bridge served industrial and residential areas on both sides. The earlier bridge opened on January 17, 1927 and was the first vehicular bridge to cross San Francisco Bay. A portion of this old drawbridge remains as a fishing pier on the east side of the Bay. The original bridge was built with private capital and then purchased by the state for $2.5 million in 1951.
Its age and the two-lane undivided roadway and lift-span led to a replacement bridge, built to the north. This bridge opened in October 1982 as a four-lane, high-level structure. The structure was re-striped to accommodate six lanes on October 18, 1989 in response to the temporary closing of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge due to the Loma P...

UFO Sighting in Menlo Park, California
Witness states: Just before 8:35pm pacific time, i'm driving away from the facebook building in menlo park. i look north east towards the bay and i spot a bright large blimp/oval like ufo. it was moving interestingly slow for a large object. i decided to park the car and record it. interesting features include strong white with hint of yellow lights with a red blinking light at the bottom center of the craft. it almost had a bulge on the top center but could not tell very well. the front of the craft had a more rounded curve while the back had a sharper and smaller curve, almost egg-shaped. it took about 8 minutes to move ne to south. that's when i decided to drive towards the freeway and try to spot it again. unfortunately, it got farther and farther away and after about 40min of driving, i lost it because the trees, buildings, and freeway direction obscured my sight. the initial approximate location under the craft was ~250-500 ft above the dumbarton bridge connecting fremont and east palo alto, and last seen heading towards cupertino which is about 5miles from san jose.

I-880/SR 92 Partnering
After nearly ten years of complex and grueling design, Caltrans awarded a $138 million contract for the reconstruction of Interstate 880/State Route 92 to the joint venture team of Flatiron and Granite Construction. The interchange is 15 miles south of Oakland in Hayward, Calif., and is one of the Bay Area's busiest junctions. Reconstruction was necessary to relieve congestion, provide additional traffic capacity, eliminate merging- and weaving-related accidents, and improve traffic safety and operations. The project began in October 2007, opened to traffic in October 2001 and was completed one month early in November 2011.
I-880 runs north/south along the east side of San Francisco Bay and crosses SR-92 in Hayward. This is the main interchange for traffic coming off northbound or southbound I-880 and onto the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, and it was a major chokepoint for commuters. The interchange is next to the San Mateo Bridge toll plaza, which approximately 235,000 vehicles pass through each day. SR-92 traffic connects to Jackson Street within 500 feet of the interchange, which caused additional congestion that was addressed during every stage of construction.
Through partnering the project team was able to identify issues in advance and work together to devise new solutions, keeping the project ahead of schedule and on budget.
