Dunbrody Famine Ship, New Ross, Co. Wexford
Some video I recorded back on the 20th of July on a road trip with some friends.
This was actually a really great tour. I only show a little bit of it in the video as I would encourage people to go and see and do the tour yourself to experience it.
This is a replica of the Dunbrody Famine Ship that used to sail out of New Ross back in the mid 1700's during the Great Irish Potato Famine. The Dunbrody was but one of many ships that were used by not just thousands but eventually millions of Irish men, women and children to escape the Famine in Ireland seeking a better life in the USA.
The bell you see towards the end of the video is the only remaining piece of the original Dunbrody.

St. Mary's Church and Abbey, New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland.
12th century Gothic Abbey Ruin fused with an early 19th century Church. Crypts, secret tunnels, legends and curses surround it's history and there is one headstone there which bears the scull and crossbones, as well as a Leper Squint (hole).....used to feed the lepers without physical contact. It is a beautiful structure and hopefully it will be preserved for future generations to enjoy and learn of their ancestry.
