Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline, aka The Glen. Shot from a drone!
A quick sunset flight around Pittencrieff park in Dunfermline. The changing light was playing havoc with the white balance on the lens. Every flight is a learning curve so I aim to improve through time.
Pittencrieff Park (known locally as The Glen) is a public park in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It was purchased in 1902 by the town's most famous son, Andrew Carnegie, and given to the people of Dunfermline in a ceremony the following year. Its lands include the historically significant and topologically rugged glen which interrupts the centre of Dunfermline and, accordingly, part of the intention of the purchase was to carry out civic development of the area in a way which also respected its heritage. The project notably attracted the attention of the urban planner and educationalist, Patrick Geddes.
The glen is an area of topographical and historical significance to Dunfermline as the original site of Malcolm's Tower, the probable remains of which can be identified today on a strongly defendable outcrop of rock. To the eastern side of the park is Dunfermline Palace with Dunfermline Abbey and to the west it overlooks the village of Crossford.

Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Pittencrieff Park, known locally as The Glen , a public park in Dunfermline. A Walk In The Park - Dunfermline Glen
Friday, 25th October, 2013. The day I found a calling to become Poca Rice or Anneka Hontas, and follow the colours of the er, er, er... anyhow, most people, sneakily grab their phones and take a shot of that celebrity up on stage and beam as they run home (or not) to put it up on Facebook or YouTube and share with the world.
I guess I'm a little different. Of course, I'd do that if I er got into that situation too, but, well. I was strolling downtown near the park gates and although I was headed up the High Street, my eyes kept turning to see the sun low in the sky and the fresh colours of an awakening autumn, on what started out a wet day.
It was glorious, and I couldn't help myself. I did turn away several times (looking at my phone for the time) then, I could no longer resist, I just had to go and live life on the edge!
Follow that muddy wet burn! :D
I know most people won't watch this. Why should they? For goodness sake, that's 26 mins of YOUR life taken up with an amateur shaky phone vid? No thanks.
But... I also thought, I wanted to capture - the quiet side of life, the unrushed beauty and surrounding sounds. Not bad for a wee phone!
You can use this in several ways. Lie back on the couch if you can't sleep - guaranteed to work! Just, make a nice soothing, hot drink, snuggle down, and breath slowly. :D
Or, if you like to exercise at home, got a treadmill? Dumb bell weights? Rowing machine/recumbent bike? Skipping rope or Step? Use it for that, let the pleasure take over the pain!
Or you could stick ya dog in front of it?
Call this, a musical interlude ... :)
Oh yeah, the wee 'snort' of delight near the beginning? Um. The park is full of wee signs that tell you interesting stuff, and I thought why not zoom in on this one? :D Okay, STAY OFF THE WALL!
This is mostly unedited - as it happened, stuff. Except when I accidentally turned the video off and two other times when 'people' intervened within - the silence. I switched off to be sociable and, preserve... what it is. A beautiful, tranquil park, and this is only a little bit of it.
TestTown Dunfermline 2013
TestTown piloted in Dunfermline in 2013, after two years of planning and development. The project was run by the Carnegie UK Trust working with Fife Council and local BID Dunfermline Delivers as local hosts, and set a challenge for 16-30 year olds to come up with innovative business uses for town centre spaces. Young people across the UK applied through a national online system, over a three-month period. Eleven teams were selected by a business judging panel to come to Dunfermline for the finals festival event in June. Each team was given a small business grant, mentoring and support. They were given two days to set up in vacant units across the town and two days to trade to the public. Our aim was to see if young people had something new to offer town centres; to provide them with chances to test out and grow new businesses; and to see how consumers responded to a different experience happening in their town.

MOD Lyneham 2019 Remembrance Sunday Parade - British Army
Sunday, November 10th 2019. Remembrance Sunday is a time when we look back and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
MOD Lyneham, home of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, held their service at the location of the REME Museum. Personal from 8 Training Battalion and Royal Marines stationed there, after marching over one thousand service personal strong thought the village of Lyneham, assembled in a hollowed square where service was held, and all conducted a two minute silence.
Remembrance Sunday is held in the United Kingdom as a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts It is held at 11am on the second Sunday in November (the Sunday nearest to 11 November, Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War in 1918).
The focus of remembrance for the dead of the First World War originally fell on Armistice Day itself, commencing in 1919. As well as the National Service in London, events were staged at town and village war memorials, often featuring processions of civic dignitaries and veterans.
The first UK commemoration of the end of World War 1 at Buckingham Palace, with King George V hosting a Banquet in Honour of The President of the French Republic . A two minute silence was observed at 11am on 11 November 1919.
The following year, Armistice Day in 1920, the funeral of Unknown Soldier took place at the London Cenotaph and a two minute silence was observed throughout the nation. Buses halted, electricity was cut to tram lines, and even trading on the city of London Stock Exchange halted.
1921, the Royal British Legion began selling Remembrance Poppies to raise money for ex-service men. While for some, Armistice Day was a day for recognising the horrors of war, never to be repeated; for others the day symbolised the honour of military service.
Black Site media commissioned by 8 Training Battalion to document the event for archive and for regional news distribution.
