The Maldives are overrated! , you can hear this surprisingly often and maybe it is true for some islands but not Meeru Island Resort & Spa!!!
Meeru on North Atol is amazing! if I say that it was everything we have ever dreamed about it will be understatement! White sands, blue water, palm trees and vegetation everywhere, excellent food, friendly and quick service, and so on, and so on...out of this world!
There is a trick to it though! You can have a very nice stay and you can have an amazing stay! The island is divided on two! It depends where're you staying and where're you eating. If you have booked a beach villa and they try to put you in one of 201-205 , just say NO FW!!! :) those 5 are also on the beach but far away from the ocean and in the middle of nowhere! The good thing is the staff knows that and they will accommodate you no questions asked! Then it is really huge difference if you eat at Maalan Restaurant (situated right on the beach overlooking the sunset) or the main restaurant! the food and the service are the same, but the view at Maalan is magnificent! Sport activities, water activities and everything else to fulfill your days is available! Don't expect a wild night life and fancy parties...Maldives are to chill and enjoy the sun and the ocean! Have fun!

Meeru Island Resort & Spa, Meerufenfushi, Maldives

Meeru Island Resort & Spa sits on the private island of Meerufenfushi in the Maldives' North Malé Atoll. The hotel is 55 minutes by speedboat from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, and round-trip transportation is provided by the hotel. You can walk the length of Meerufenfushi in about 15 minutes, and the island is surrounded by a calm lagoon and pristine reefs ideal for exploring by scuba diving and snorkeling. In the center of the island is a 9-hole pitch-and-putt golf course and driving range. We did like everything about our stay. If you are looking for a place with lot's of privicy, excellent service and beautiful snorkeling, this is the resort to go. What I didn't read in previous reviews, but maybe worth adding: we travelled to Mirihi with me being pregnant. The staff is very helpful if it comes to make sure that the food is well cooked and the chef is very willing to help you out with how things are prepared. A felt very comfortable with being pregnant in a place like Mirihi.
The food was absolutely amazing. Usually you wouldn't expect such high quality from a buffet, but every meal at Mirihi seemed better than the last and they definitely did not skimp on quality in any of the items (all you can eat Lobster, steak...etc.). The location is great for diving, the house reef is phenomenal, and the staff is amazingly caring without being intrusive.
Minuses:
There was nothing we didn't like about Mirihi. We only wondered why the over-water restaurant isn't open for lunch. That would be a great extra.
The island is quite small so if you are not an avid diver or do not enjoy snorkeling, you may get bored of relaxing on a perfect beach all day.

Take a look at a wonderful beginning to my stay at Hurawalhi Resort - after a short seaplane flight from Male and beautiful welcome, I got spoilt at a spa, swam in front of my villa and finally dined at the world's biggest all glass restaurant called 5.8 (because it's 5.8 feet under the water surface, in the bottom of the ocean!!) STUNNING!!!!
