Dunlewey is a true hidden gem of Donegal tourism. This small gaeltacht village has three iconic landmarks on its doorstep Mount Errigal, The Poison Glen and Dunlewey Lake. It is also the venue for the popular Dunlewey Centre (Ionad Cois Locha). Facilities at this centre include restaurant, tea-room, craft shop, horse riding, adventure play areas, a themed farmyard, pets and animals, storytelling, boat trips on Dunlewey Lake, guided tours and weaving demonstrations. Traditional music sessions are held regularly in July and August. The centre now boasts a purpose built concert and drama centre.

Gweedore is located along the western seaboard of Co. Donegal and is regarded as one of the most ruggedly scenic areas of the west of Ireland. Here, the old skills and traditions of bygone days have survived and the native language is still alive and well.
Visit Glenveigh National Park and experience it's peace and tranquility among the Derryveagh mountains. Fish for salmon on the Clady river or bring the children to Dunlewey Lakeside Center. Here on the magnificent Donegal Coast in the heart of the Gaeltacht you can unwind, walking the beautiful sandy beaches and mountains, go fishing, golfing or just take a leisurely boat trip to the nearby Islands. Your time is your own.

Martello View - A Holiday Home in Bunbeg, Gweedore, Co Donegal
Martello View is a comfortable 4 bedroom holiday home situated in the town of Bunbeg in the heart of the West Donegal Gaeltacht. The holiday home is located across the road from the Clady river at a point 500 metres before it enters the sea at the quaint Bunbeg Harbour. The house takes it name from the small lookout tower just above the house which in times past was a lookout post to guard the coastline.
The holiday home has a bright open plan area featuring a modern fitted kitchen, dining area and a comfortably furnished living space with an open fireplace. There is a large utility room with storage space for bicycles, surf boards, golf clubs etc. The four bedrooms sleep up to 10 people - one bedroom is ensuite and there is a bathroom on the ground floor and a shower room on the first floor.
A short stroll from the holiday home is Bunbeg Harbour - reputedly the smallest harbour in Europe. This working harbour is a departure point for a ferrys to both Tory Island and Gola Island. Gola Island is just off the coast from Bunbeg and features deserted beaches and spectacular scenery. Tory Island is a day trip but the visitor will be rewarded with magnificent scenery- scenery that has beguiled generations of artists.
Just over 1 km from the holiday home is the wonderful Magheraclogher Strand - a beautiful sandy beach that has Mount Errigal as a majestic backdrop. This is just one of several fine beaches and sandy coves that dot the Gweedore coastline. A little over 2 km north of the holiday home is the scenic - and challenging - 9 hole Gweedore Golf Club. Indoor leisure facilites are available at the nearby Ostan Gweedore Hotel and at An Chuirt Hotel overlooking the Clady River (8km)
Bunbeg - and the wider Gweedore area - has a vibrant music scene. Clannad, Enya and Altan all have their roots in the region. During the summer months there are regular music sessions in the local pubs. The monday night sessions in Hudi Beag's Pub are very popular with some well known musicians dropping in for a jam - the pub is a short walk from the holiday home. The Franky Kennedy Winter Music School is an annual week long music festival attracting musicians from all over the world for lessons in the art of traditional Irish music. The festival takes place over the new year period and features concerts from internationally renowned Musicians.
A number of Donegals top tourist attractions are within a short driving distance of the holiday home. Heading inland towards the Donegal Highlands you have The Dunlewey Centre (12km) , the Poison Glen (14km), Mount Errigal (15km) and the magnificent Glenveagh National Park (2Okm). Other scenic attractions in the region include the blue flag Carrickfinn Beach, the renowned Loughanure fishing lake and Bloody Foreland.

Best watched in HD and sound.Gweedore (officially known by its Irish language name, Gaoth Dobhair, is an Irish-speaking parish located on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. Gweedore stretches some 26 kilometres (16 mi) from Meenaclady in the north to Crolly in the south and around 14 kilometres (9 mi) from Dunlewey in the east to Magheraclogher in the west, and is one of Europe's most densely populated rural areas. It is the largest Irish-speaking parish in Ireland with a population of around 4,065, and is also the home of the northwest regional studios of the Irish-language radio service RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, as well as an external campus of NUI Galway. Gweedore includes the villages Bunbeg, Derrybeg, Dunlewey, Crolly and Brinalack, and sits in the shade of Donegal's highest peak, Errigal.
Gweedore is known for being a cradle of the culture of Ireland, with old Irish customs, traditional music, theatre, Gaelic games and the Irish language playing a central and pivotal role in the lives of the local people. This, along with its scenery and many beaches, has made the area a popular tourist destination, especially with visitors from Northern Ireland. Gweedore and the neighbouring districts of Cloughaneely and the Rosses are collectively known locally as the three parishes, they form a social and cultural region distinct from the rest of the county, with Gweedore serving as the main centre for socialising and industry.
The Bunbeg Wreck, or Eddies Boat as it is also known, is a wrecked ship on Magherclogher Beach.(can be seen in video)The ship ran ashore here in the 1970s when it got into trouble on stormy waters. It has been here ever since a proud part of local heritage and is considered to be Gweedore’s very own Titanic. In order to get up close and personal with the ship the tide needs to be well out, but be assured it is well worth the effort!!

Bunbeg Gweedore County Donegal
Bunbeg is a small fishing village with a quaint harbour, set in the heart of the Gweedore Gaeltacht in West Donegal. Both Bunbeg and the neighbouring Derrybeg village are so close they could be mistaken for one another. The Irish Language has survived in this area - along with much of the traditional Irish Culture that has now been lost to many other areas of the County. Bunbeg itself is a centre of learning for students of the Irish Language
