When I got the ferry from Gourock to the Cowal Peninsula, I stopped off at Dunoon. I visited the town's museum, as well as the remains of the town's castle.

Dunoon to Holy Loch
Back in the days, this would have been a familiar taxi journey for US Navy personnel from the base at Holy Loch, Scotland. The Navy Exchange & Commissary (now a Co-op Supermarket) to the Navy base (now just an unused pier).
Will maybe bring back memories for some.

After a super smooth boat ride, I finally arrive in Scotland! I make my way to Glasgow on my way to Dunoon for the Cowal Highland Games! But first, I decide to make a detour because of something I saw on Google maps and I'm so glad I made the detour! What is it? Come along and find out :D

Hafton Castle is a magnificent Scottish building with views across Holy Loch, set in delightful gardens. The castle also boasts a large indoor heated swimming pool. The Castle is a superb house with its wonderful indoor pool, billiard room, library, dining room, superb reception hall, small drawing room, opening onto large drawing room, spacious conservatory and lots of outdoor space with terrace and gardens, in fact plenty of space for the large number of people it sleeps. The splendid reception hall has plenty of seats, wood-burner and a grand piano.

Ferry from Gourock to Dunoon
I decided to get a ferry across from Gourock to Dunoon. I went over to explore the Cowal Peninsula, which is part of Argyll. I ferry that I got was from the Western Ferries, which takes you across the River Clyde to Dunoon. You can also get the Calmac ferry across. Dunoon is a brilliant location to base yourself, if you're wanting to explore the Cowal Peninsula.
