दुर्योधन का मंदिर | Temple of duryodhana | Uttarakhand
Temple of duryodhan | uttarakhand
Duryodhana is the main antagonist of the Mahabharata. Anyone who has seen any of the numerous television serials based on the epic, know how cruel, conniving and greedy the Kaurava prince was.
Yet he is worshipped in two places of the country – Kerala and Uttarakhand.
In the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand stands a temple dedicated to Duryodhana. The architecture of the temple is in distinctive style of the state, with sloped roofs and wooden sides.
Located in Jakholi, the temple is revered by the locals, who believe that the eldest of the Kaurava clan is their guardian deity.
A report says that the locals have stopped worshipping Duryodhana over the last few months and are now worshipping Lord Shiva, the main deity of the temple.

Lakhamandal is an ancient Hindu temple complex, situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand.

Lakhamandal lies 128 km. from Dehradun, and 35 km. from Chakrata on the Mussoorie-Yamnotri road, past Kempty Falls.
This Cave is called Dhundhi Odaari in the local Jaunsari language. Dhundi or Dhund means misty or foggy and odaar or odaari means cave or hidden place. The local people think that the Pandava took refuge in this cave to save themselves from Duryodhana.

They also resemble Jai and Vijay, the doormen of Lord Vishnu. Ruinsara Lake Trek - 2018.
Ruinsara Tal is a majestic Himalayan lake nestled in the lush green meadows with a back drop of the snow clad mountains. Ruinsara Tal trek is a perfect trek for beginners who are looking for a long Himalayan adventure as its mostly an easy hike along the river banks. There’s easy walking, over the major portion along the river waters. Up above are the azure blue skies, on your right and left loom the dense forests of chestnut, deodar and sycamore. You walk along sparkling, playful, flowing streams and waterfalls. And even the climbs are at a gentle gradient. The trek moves largely in the Supin River Valley, which is really the upper catchment area of the Tons. The Supin becomes the Tons (a tributary of the Yamuna) when it meets the Rupin stream lower down at Netwar. Open meadows in the middle of forests beckon you to camp, and the whole area is teeming with life : parakeets, cuckoos, owls, minivets, bulbuls, tits and thrushes. You may also spot the monal koklass pheasant, western tragopan, steppe eagle, golden eagle, the Himalayan snowcock and bearded vulture. The area falls within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. home to 11 mammals and 150 birds species. The upper reaches have been declared as a national park for the protection of the elusive snow leopard.
The people of the area practise customs that may seem strange to the plains-dweller: instead of valorising the Pandavas of the Mahabharata, the Kauravas are worshipped here. You will find temples dedicated to Duryodhana ! Polyandry, too, is not uncommon, but given the dominant morality in the rest of the country, villagers now feel sheepish to talk about it. This is also the route that the eldest Pandava Yudhistara is supposed to have taken after the Mahabharata war, traversing the Swargarohini on his way to heaven.

Har ki dun Trek | Hiking the Valley of Gods trail | HIMALAYAS
Instagram- @vanaprasth
Har-Ki-Dun is a cradle shaped valley in Garhwal region of Indian Himalayas. Its name literally translates to Valley (Dun) of (Ki) Gods (Har). This video is based on hiking the trail that leads to this valley at approximate 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) and Jaundhar Glacier ahead of the valley at approximate 4,300 meters’ altitude. (14,100 feet). The total elevation gain, hiking is about 2,300 meters (7,500 feet).
The trail is situated in 'Govind' Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, Uttarakhand, India. It is a two-day hike from Taluka village where the trail begins at 2000 meters’ altitude to Har-ki-Dun and one-day hike from Har-ki-Dun to Jaundhar Glacier and back. Indian myths and legends actually that say that this trail leads to heaven and on their way to heaven, the Pandavas took this very trail and scaled the Himalayan peak called Swargrohini (6252m).
Although the trail might not seem very remote and not physically as demanding as some of the other hikes and treks the Himalayan terrain offers, it is rich in culture and one gets to hike through a beautiful trail through the woods on day one, through endless lush green meadows and wild alpine flowers on day two and for new hikers, the trail leading to the Jaundhar glacier is in complete contrast to the first two days and adds a touch of high altitude breathtaking landscapes which make it one of the best treks/hikes in India for beginner trekkers/hikers with no previous experience. (Refer first shot of the video ;)) Almost without exception, any person with average level of fitness can complete the hike but, I like to believe that level of fitness is directly related to the level of enjoyment on the trail.
The village of Osla where you set camp for your first night on the trail is where all the footage of local children is shot. All of these shots have been shot in a public setting and intended to document nothing more than some very human moments of innocence. This village has a temple dedicated to Duryodhana, the eldest of Kauravas, from the Mahabharata built by the inhabitants who worship Kauravas as their ancestors. Wild Himalayan cannabis plants are found in abundance in and around Osla and you may see some of the local elders smoking cannabis using a 'Chillum'!

If you subscribed, I am not going to post regular content as of now but I will make more videos of different trails and activities not limited to hiking. I already have a cycling in Himalayas video on my channel.
Most of the footage is shot with an iPhone 6 and some with a Nikon D3300. Needless to say, I shot and processed all of it. Most shots are candid.
This hike was planned, organized and guided by mountain experts at GIOAdventures.
