Fifty Year Old Woman Rescues Boy from Drowning in River
A 50-year-old woman jumped into the river and saved an eight-year-old boy from drowning in Duyun City of southwest China's Guizhou Province last Thursday.
Some eyewitnesses on the spot took pictures of the process and reported the case to the public.
One of them, surnamed Wei, said the boy was roller skating alongside the Jianjiang River when he fell into the river probably because he failed to check his speed and it happened there was a big interspace of the rails by the river.
The river is two meters deep and the boy wearing his roller skates kept sinking to the bottom of the river.
At that moment, a woman in her 50s just passed by and saw the boy sinking. She immediately jumped into the river to rescue the boy without any hesitation. Later people learned that the woman is Wang Youqun and she is 50 years old.
She jumped into the river without even taking off her clothes and shoes. When I took pictures of the scene, I saw her lifting up the boy with her hands, said Wei.
With another young woman's help, Wang managed to lift up the boy to the bank and save the boy's life.
Thanks to the timely rescue, the boy did not fall ill. Two passers-by got the boy's home address and sent him home. Wang swam to a place where she could climb up the river bank easily and left the scene quietly. More on:
