Kei River Pont crossing and Keimond Campsite // South Africa Safari Day 9 of 25.
We leave the beautiful coastal forests of Dwesa Nature reserve and head towards Morgan’s Bay.
We use the Kei Mouth Pont to cross the Great Kei River, leaving the Transkei.
On the way out of #Keimouth we meet some old friends on the road, and decide to change our plans and stay with them at the Kei Mouth Municipal Caravan Park.

Magical Mkambati | Wild Coast, South Africa | HD
This is a video I made of our family hike from Mtentu Campsite to Mkambati Falls and back on 29 September 2018. About an 9 km (5.5 miles) round trip.
It was extremely windy that day, couldn't get the drone footage I wanted, even my Osmo battled to stay stable. Guess I''l have to go back someday and hope for better weather.
Kids enjoyed the shipwreck on the way.
Shot with my GoPro Hero 3, Galaxy S7 Edge with my DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal and my DJI Mavic Pro drone.

A Holidaymaker's Guide to South Africa's Wild Coast
The weather's always good on the Wild Coast, and there's so much to explore - all the better when you're on foot!
You can do a river mouth hopping up and down the coast, or nestle yourself in an isolated hamlet like Hluleka Nature Reserve or Umngazi River Mouth.
At the heart of the Wild Coast lies the pastures and beaches of Coffee Bay, where a certain rock marvel has been luring travellers to its shores for decades.
But what makes this stretch of coast especially unique is its people - where isiXhosa traditions are shared with visitors and help communities thrive through cultural tourism.
What are you waiting for? Get packing now!

A day in Mboyti – seriously disappointing // South Africa Safari Day 5 of 25.
I rant about our lodgings!
The bird life around camp the camp was awesome, a trumpeter #hornbill shared our breakfast and the collared barbets were nesting in the nearby tree.
After breakfast, we spent some time on the beautiful #beach. Two guys offer a short #horserides for the kids, up and down the beach. When we return to our #pondo at Mboyti Camp Site, we find the electricity is off and there’s no water in the bathrooms.
I wish I had seen this post before, as all the same problems still exist (Dec 2017):
You have to book the campsite / pondo through Mboyti River Lodge, but is managed by the Mboyti Camp Site Trust – an Mboyti local community project, and the lodge merely assists in the administration of the bookings.
When they say the campsites have been left as natural as possible, they mean it, in that it is uneven, and the trees limit the height on some of the sites.
If I were to return, I would treat it as a camp site where I need to be a #self-sufficient #camper, including my own power and water.
We catch a #butterfly – it was alive, it flew away, and #toastmashmellows on the fire.

The Journey Day 59: Mkambati Nature Reserve
Appreciation was in full swing yesterday as Jo settled in to his first day back on the trail of The Journey. Take a look at this beautiful little waterfall meeting the sea somewhere in Mkambati Nature Reserve between Port St. John's and Port Edward. This is north-eastern Pondoland and it is clearly a breathtaking part of the South African coastline!

South Africa Safari 2018
A few clips of our 6000km #roadtrip around south africa.
WE started in Kimberley at The Big Hole and headed to Cape Town via Augrabies Falls and the Cedarberg. After reaching Cape point, we decided to go further south to Cape Auglhas.
Then Bontebok, Ebb & Flow, and Addo National Parks, before Family joined us in Hogsback for Christmas.
We left the family in Stuterheim and headed home through the Transkei, poping in at Dwesa, Hole-in-the-wall Coffeebay, Port St Johns and finally Mbotyi.
