NORWAY - KRISTIANSAND ZOO DYREPARKEN | twoplustwocrew
NORWAY SUMMER HOLIDAY - part three.
We had a great day out at Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement park in Norway. Its called Dyreparken. Its 11kms (6 miles) outside Kristiansand and its open from Easter to mid October.
This place is massive!!! 150 acres - so wear comfy shoes! a full on day of theme rides, animal shows (we loved the squirrel monkeys who tried to grab our go pro) and they even have a full on pirate village with staged battles! with a funfair thrown in!
Really one day at the park is not enough but your kids will definitely sleep well after a day here...ours did...they were wiped out by all the excitement.

Few parks cover such a variety as Kristiansand Zoo. 11 km east of Kristiansand you will find the most beautiful and natural zoo and amusement park, with scenery and environment in abundance.

Dyreparken is a complete park, consisting of an entertainment park; a theme park; and a zoo. The zoo contains an enclosure for Scandinavian animals such as wolves and elk, a large breeding ground for Bactrian camels, and exotic animals such as alligators, orangutans, Siberian tigers and a variety of apes and monkeys.
Kristiansand Zoo is Norway`s most frequently visited attraction covering an area of 150 acres of wild Nordic terrain. It is totally different from other European zoos, which are characterised by bars and heavy padlocks. In Dyreparken, the animals have wide open spaces in which to roam - however, the visitors are still able to get up close to observe some of the most beautiful animals - like the red panda, which is threatened by extinction.
The Africa exhibition allows you to move along a bridge and a path observing native savanna animals such as giraffes, zebras and lions. The park is 11 km (6 mi) east of the town (Kristiansand).
In an open air area you will find some of the smaller monkeys run wild amongst the trees and swing on the ropes while you can move amongst them! Inside the rain forest, in the humid atmosphere, dark and scary passages lead the way to crocodiles, alligators and many other reptiles - You will find more than 140 different species living in as much freedom as possible in a natural environment.
The park has many kilometres of good paths throughout, to enable visitors the possibility to roam for hours. Dyreparken is working very closely with the World Wild-life Foundation to help save animals under threat of extinction. It offers you the opportunity to see the Nordic wolf, lynx and wolverine in their natural environment.
A trip to Cardamom Town (Kardemomme by) is recommended. The town is based on a well-known children's story written by Thorbjørn Egner and you will meet all the Kardemomme by's characters from the book in the park's main season!
The neigbour park, Badelandet, is a bathing area with heated swimming pools. Watch the Pirates battle it out from the Black Lady ship (Den Sorte Dame), while you enjoy an ice cream. It's paradise for both young and old...
Africa
A little piece of Africa in the middle of the Zoo ... Both smells, vegetation, sounds, houses and animals have been completed to the smallest detail. See the lions get fed, take a train ride, pat the goats on the farmhouse or watch the ostriches dance with the giraffes.

Nordic Wilderness
Do you notice the wolf, the jerv, the lynx and the other Nordic animals? Sometimes you have to wait a little before they appear, but it's only because Nordic Wilderness in the Animal Park is the largest area in the whole park. It means happy animals and more excitement for our guests.

Dyreparken zoo and amusement park in Kristiansand, Norway ????????
We visited the park in July 2018. It was very cool, even though it was crowded and hot. Stayed overnight in the awesome Abra havn Hotel, that is built like a pirate town.

NORWAY - WATERPARK BADELANDET KRISTIANSAND REVIEW | twoplustwocrew
NORWAY SUMMER HOLIDAY - review
We spent hours playing in all the heated outdoor and indoor pools at the Waterpark. Its called Badelandet. Its 11kms (6 miles) outside Kristiansand. It is next to the Dyreparken zoo and you can buy combined tickets or go separately from the zoo. It is a whole island full of fun swimming experiences. There are lots of slides and pools - both indoor and outdoor for everyone...from babies...to teenagers...adults and grandparents!
There are plenty of picnic spots to choose from outside or there are eating places indoors...its up to you! We chose the sunshine and fed the ducks on the shore of the island while watching the pirate ships go by from Dyreparken Zoo. The kids ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!

Siberian tiger - one of our largest predators. They can jump five feet high and eat 40 kilos of meat at once. Feel free to take a trip to the Tiger Rike in the Animal Park. In the Asia area you will find the most festive animals in the Animal Park: the orangutans and gibbon monkeys.
