DZUKOU VALLEY | BLOOMING FLOWERS |TRAVEL VLOG | NAGALAND
The name ‘Dzu-kou’ means cold waters.
It is called so because the valley is so cold that those who visit are chilled to the soul. An old folklore also says that while their ancestors were looking for a suitable place to establish a village, a young scout was sent to this duty. He found the valley but it was too cold, uninhabited, nothing edible grew and there were no trees in the vicinity. It was initially called Phephee but the name changed to Dzukou.
Dzukou Valley Nagaland | The Trash Problem in Indian Mountains | Ep3 | North East India Travel
Dzukou Valley is a place that stretches across the border of Nagaland and Manipur in North East of India. It is a beautiful place unlike any that I've ever seen before. But much like any beautiful tourist destination, there's a growing burden of plastic and trash that plagues the place. Burning of trash is a regular local practice currently in many of our Indian cities and towns because of a lack of trash disposal system. Wouldn't it be better if we stopped creating trash, to begin with? This Episode aims to bring to light the plastic problem in India.
In some good News though, Dzukou Valley is now declared a plastic-free zone

NAGALAND - DZUKOU VALLEY & JAKHAMA | Travelling in North-East India | Indian Travel vlogs
Welcome To Nagaland! (3/3) DZUKOU VALLEY & JAKHAMA - The villages in Nagaland.
I visited Nagaland in the month of April and had the opportunity to open my mind to endless experiences! For the longest time, Nagaland and the whole of North East has been so neglected: tourism wise and also culturally :(. So I took the plunge to discover the beautiful state myself, with two other creators- Tanya Khanijow & Namrata Menon. These girls have been the most lovely to travel with :)
This is Part 2 of the Nagaland series #TakeMeToNagaland! there are 3 in total! please watch part 1 because it's super fun and features the cities - Dimapur & Kohima ( the capital of Nagaland)
????????Things to remember when you plan your travel:????????
????The Visvema route (the one I took) is much easier compared to the Jakhama route.
????You can camp the previous night at Campsite Yedika just like I did, before you trek to the valley.
????Drones are not allowed in the valley (we had special permissions to use them)
????You can get in touch with @tirelessfoot_nicholas on Instagram, incase you're interested to trek to the valley. He's a good buddy, and will help you in the best way
????Entry to the valley is INR 20/- only
????Carry your sleeping bags and down jackets cuz it's super windy and extremely cold at night. I went in the month of April and it was super cold.
????The best option would be to trek early in the morning and reach the dormitory by or before 2pm.
????DO NOT trek to Dzukou without a local guide.
????You need an ILP-(Inner Line Permit) to enter the state of Nagaland. You can apply here—
????Commute in the city is pretty straightforward. You can use the local rickshaws, or hire a car to go around. The roads are super bumpy especially in Dimapur & Kohima, so be prepared :D
????The food scene is very much different than mainland. Vegetarians options are available, but make sure you mention you’re vegetarian since they also tend to cook their veggies in pork fat. Nagaland thrives on pork and beef, and a lot of things you don’t see in the rest of the country. I suggest that you visit with an open mind, else it will be super difficult to survive. I personally loved the food. :D
????Make sure you have enough cash on you. It’s advisable to carry cash from home since it was even hard to find ATMs.
????Homestays are the best way to experience the local living. Since the people are super friendly, the hosts are lovely to interact with and know so many things about the Naga culture.
????Do a lot of research before you visit. The state has 16 different tribes and they speak different dialects. Read about their lifestyle and food.
????Carry your rainwear and warm clothes since the weather is pretty unpredictable. The best time to travel according to me is December (for Hornbill festival ) and also April.
????Nagaland is a dry state! :P
????Nagaland is a state full of beauty and the nicest people I've ever come across. The misconceptions about this magic land are hilarious! So do not believe anything else you hear about this place. We stayed here for 10 days and had no issues, problems at all! Trust me! Your next travel, must be planned for the north-east especially NAGALANDDD!
????Also, thanks to Tanya and Namrata, for helping me film so many shots!
This video, and the rest of the videos of the Nagaland series are in collaboration with Tanya Khanijow! and also in collaboration with the super talented cinematographer - Namrata Menon :* Love you my mungi :*

Dzükou Valley & Japfu Peak: Exploring Nagaland's Best-Kept Secrets
In December 2017, we trekked to Nagaland's spellbinding Dzukou Valley, one of the last remaining paradises in India.
Later during the same Nagaland trip, we undertook an arduous ascent of Japfu Peak, the second highest mountain in Nagaland.
The video exhibits the wonders that we experienced. The first part of the video covers the trek to and the exploration of Dzükou Valley, while the second part covers the challenging ascent of Japfu Peak.
If you are planning to either trek to the Dzükou Valley or scale Japfu Peak (two different treks), you simply must read our in-depth ultimate guides for both of these adventures. They are the most comprehensive guides on the Internet for these treks.
The guides cover everything you need to know to undertake these two treks independently without a local guide, with information on the natural history, geology, where to stay, costs and entry fees, best time to visit, what gear to bring, detailed descriptions of the routes, and much more.
Please read the guides from start to finish before asking us any questions about these treks!

DZÜKOU VALLEY | Top 10 Things You Should Know
DZÜKOU VALLEY
Top 10 Things You Should Know
1. Location : The Dzükou Valley is located in NorthEast India at the border of Nagaland and Manipur whose area (Kohima & Senapati) are inhabited the fraternal tribes of Tenyimia Nagas.
2. Popularity : Dzükou valley is well known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora and fauna.
3. The rare Dzükou Lily is found only in this valley
4. Altitude 2452 m above sea level
5. The word Dzüko is originally derived from the Viswema dialect of the Angamis 'Dzü-ko' meaning 'Soulless and Dull'
6. Folktale : Legends says some ancestors of Viswema village moved to Dzüko to establish a new village, but due to the unfavorable weather conditions they were unable to harvest crops which led them to say the valley is very beautiful but is dull and soulless.
• Whilst the chieftain had a dream in which the spirit-gods Tevrümi asked him 7 roosters if they wanted to settle in the valley.
• Meaning the spirit-gods is asking for 7 best male youth as a sacrifice.
• To which, the chief would not sacrifice his best male warriors.
• He also send some youth to the valley to bring the soil to him and so they did as requested.
• The chief elder checked the soil and said the land was very fertile and but not appropriate for vegetation. Thus, because of these reasons the people gave up to settle in the valley.
• From there the name Dzükou or in local dailect Dzüko came, which literally means cold heart because they gave up to settled.
7. A common misconception is that Dzüko derives its meaning from the Angami word which translates to Cold Water referring to the ice cold stream that flows through the valley.
8. The main entry is from the foothills of Viswema village where one can travel to the rest house by a Tata Sumo taxi. From here one has to to the top of the mountain but the main valley is still another two hours walk away.
9. Words fall short to describe the flawless work of nature at the Dzukou valley. It is an arduous journey, but every step taken, every drop of sweat fallen is worth it.
10. Dzukou Valley will be truly an unforgettable experience.

Beauty of Nagaland - Dzukou Valley and Khonoma
Nagaland is mostly a mountainous state in Northeast India. Dzukou Valley and Khonoma are the most popular destination for nature lovers in here. We visited the southeastern part of Nagaland around the capital Kohima. Here is a time lapse on the beautiful landscapes from the land of Angamis.
Dzukou Valley is an easy trek through the grass like bamboos and takes you to the valley of flowers. Though we were late by one month from the flowering season, the unique landscape of the valley is beyond comparison. This trek is considered in top 10 treks of Northeast India.
Khonoma is the first Green Village of India 20 km away from Kohima. The Angami village is on top of a hill with a view of their rice fields downhill. The tribes here have a brave history of fighting against Britishers. You can spend one or two days here with the local people and get the real taste of Naga Culture.

This is Part 3 from my 3 part web series across Manipur. In this part, I will be exploring the most beautiful valley I have ever come across - Dzukou Valley. This is also the final part from the series I hope you all enjoyed my Manipur series :) Stay tuned for Meghalaya
Manipur is a state in Northeast India, with the city of Imphal as its capital. It is bounded by Nagaland to the north, Mizoram to the south, and Assam to the west; Burma (Myanmar) lies to its east. The state covers an area of 22,327 square kilometers (8,621 sq mi) and has a population of almost 3 million, including the Meitei, who are the majority group in the state, Loi, Yaithibi, Kuki and Naga peoples, who speak a variety of Sino-Tibetan languages. Manipur has been at the crossroads of Asian economic and cultural exchange for more than 2,500 years. It has long connected the Indian subcontinent to Southeast Asia and China, enabling migration of people, cultures, and religions.

A Bangladeshi Treks to Dzukou Valley - Nagaland || Part 1 || NorthEast India Vlog
Dzukou Valley is what we call pristine. It is glorious! The valley is situated at an altitude of more than 2200 m above sea level, behind the Japfu Peak, Nagaland; the valley shares the border of the states of Nagaland and Manipur and is well known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora & fauna. Locals say July is the best time for the lilies. The Valley has a magic that steals your heart away, everywhere you turn it will only make you fall in love.
One of the best parts of travel is to meet new people and know their travel stories. Met new travelers not only from India but from countries all over the world!
I would rate it as one of the most beautiful treks I ever have done. One of nature's best for sure. If you're thinking of visiting, don't think, just pack your bags and go!
