- In this video we will show you the stone remains of Dzibilchaltún (Mexico), an archaeological site located in the north of the Yucatán Peninsula which name means “City of writing on the rocks”. Its moment of splendor was between the 7th and the 10th centuries, contemporaneously with the rise of powerful city-state of Uxmal. Among other monuments you can admire step-pyramids, a palace, the “Temple of the Seven Dolls”, the Xlakah Cenote and a Christian chapel built by the Spanish conquerors.

DZIBILCHALTUN YUCATAN MEXICO
Dzibilchaltun is a Mayan Archaeological site located in the state of Yucatan Mexico, half way between the capital city Merida and the port city of Progreso, 15 kilometers / 9 mi away from either city.
This Mayan Site was inhabited from 500 BC until the Spanish Conquest 1540 AD. It covers an area of 19 square kilometers / 12 square miles. It is believed it had a population of about 40,000.
One of the most important buildings is the Temple of the Seven Dolls also known as the Temple of the Sun.

Dzibilchaltun Ruins Mexico 2017
Dzibilchaltún (pronounced Ts’íibil Cháaltun) is a comparatively small Maya archaeological site in the Mexican state of Yucatán, approximately 10 miles north of the state capital Mérida. It is in the extreme north of the Maya Region, not far from the Gulf of Mexico. The site has been continuously occupied for about 3,000 years up until the arrival of the Spanish, and is known to be the longest functioning city of the Mayan world.

Exploring Yucatan, Mexico : Dzibilchaltún Mayan Ruins
We got the amazing opportunity to explore the Mayan Ruins in Progresso Mexico. It was quite enchanting to see.
The Yucatan was a new experience for me, but Dylan has been there before, and even he loved to be able to see everything again.
We booked this opportunity through our cruise line which took us to the ruins for about 4 hours total and then for a beach break with unlimited Miami Vice drinks, and Pina Coladas! SCORE.
Unfortunately most footage from our adventures on this cruise was lost when Dylan snorkeled with his phone in his pocket. Its unfortunate but here is what we were able to salvage just from the GoPro.
Hopefully i can stay on track with my Mondays @ 10 AM, unless of course life gets in the way. Stay tuned for our Snorkel & Ocean Playground video coming from Cozumel, Mexico!
