East Kilbride - The People's Story
East Kilbride - The People's Story is a Heritage Lottery funded project to record through people's memories and personal artefacts the history and development of East Kilbride New Town from its inception in the post war years to the modern day.
It offers a unique opportunity to record the birth and growth to maturity of an entire community.

Memories of the East Kilbride Town Centre as it *used* to be. Most of these pictures are not mine, they've been found online through various sources. I've tried to credit where possible, but if you find one of your pictures on here and you're not credited, please let me know and I'll do so ASAFP.
The reason I've used annotations instead of burning text onto the pictures is for two reasons: First, because you can turn them off to get a really good look at the pictures, and secondly so the slideshow can evolve with time. If I've got something wrong, or I've forgotten something, or YOU have a memory you'd like to add, I can keep adding to it with additional annotations.

My Kind of People is an ITV television show presented by British entertainer Michael Barrymore broadcast in 1995. Barrymore traveled around the country in his customised sports car visiting shopping centres, amateurs performed on a stage for the programme unrehearsed.
Some acts were simply shown performing together with the audience reaction, whereas others were interviewed by Barrymore or shown inter-dispersed with footage of Barrymore to the side of the stage engaged in foolish behaviour in order to get reactions from the audience. Often Barrymore would join the act on stage and continue the tomfoolery.
