South of Yazd Iran, Some Unexpected Finds - one of Sam's Exotic Travels
Yazd is located in the Dasht-e-Kavir Desert. It's a 452 km drive south-west to Shiraz, but in the first 100 km we made three stops:
Deh Sir, a small hamlet of adobe buildings, a beautiful mosque and even more beautiful people,
Abar Kooh -- an ancient Iranian city located on the Silk Road, containing an historic ice house and perhaps the oldest cypress tree in Asia
The Central Mountain range, which went from bare-rock to snow-peaked mountains. Our stop was at Eagle Rock -- other mountain pictures were taken from our bus.

A Mountain Road in Northern Iran
A short video clip shot in mid March 2015 from our car with my phone whilst climbing up to the top of a pass (2600m) on the southern edge of the Central Alborz Mountain range of northern Persia whilst en route to Polour Village (2200m) at the foot of Mount Damavand (5,670m) the highest mountain of the Eurasian Plateau west of the Hindu Kush massif.
I hope this gives the viewer a flavour of the geography and general landscape of this part of the world. I was quite impressed with the general condition of the roads, but was advised that these roads become impassable during winter storms, a feature of the region.
All in all a great trip,if a little short, and the people? among the best I've had the pleasure of meeting, I'll be back.

Sky Burial: Tibetan Burial Ritual
Sky Burial follows the ritual of jha-tor, the giving of alms to birds in a northern Tibetan monastery - where the bodies of the dead are offered to the vultures as a final act of kindness to living beings.
At the Drigung Monastery lamas chant to call the consciousness from the body. Juniper incense is burned to summon the vultures. Special body breakers, or rogyapas, unwrap the bodies and cut away the flesh. The bones are crushed and mixed with tsampa, roasted barley flour. The entire body is consumed by the birds, assuring the ascent of the soul.
The sky, or the universe, is where the sacred world lies. To merge with the sky after death is a holy event, one that replaces the sufferings of this world with peace.

Several new UAVs have been unveiled in an exhibition to showcase the country’s capabilities in drone-related technologies.
The four drones were unveiled in a ceremony attended by Vice president for science and technology Sorena Sattari سورنا ستاري who visited the exhibition and also unveiled a new drone application.
Sattari said products manufactured and marketed by technology activists in the field are advanced, competitive, and efficient, and sometimes better than other examples available in international markets.
He added that the priority of the Vice Presidency is the introduction of UAV experiences and achievements to the defence sector in order to further strengthen the country’s defence industry.
“Iranian-made drones are used in various fields of agriculture and surveying, and they have been welcomed by various industries and organisations as many of the time-consuming and costly tasks are facilitated by these drones,” underlined Sattari.
- A light surveillance drone equipped with a thermal camera was one of these unveiled achievements. This UAV is equipped with day and night camera and triaxial image recorder. It can fly for 60 minutes nonstop.
- Another product was an specialized mapping drone that does not need ground control points. This drone can fly for 90 minutes and is equipped with a PPK-RTK positioning system to accurately capture image centers. Its maximum speed is 120 kph which can be used for offline and on-the-fly missions. This UAV can automatically return to its starting point.
- Specialized Mapping Drone that does not need ground control points (GEN-X2) is another unveiled product that can fly for 60 minutes. It is equipped with a 2-megapixel mirrorless camera.
- Another UAV was the solar one that features a 4-hour flight continuity. It weighs 1.2 kg and has a flight limit of 10,000 feet.
- An application for commercialization of drones and three other achievements in this field were also introduced at this exhibition.
Fifty knowledge-based companies and start-ups active in drone-related areas have participated in this event.

Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari سورنا ستاري said that some domestically-produced drones are better than their foreign versions.
He made the remarks at the venue of Innovation and Development Fund on Wednesday and added, “the country enjoys high capacity and potential in the field of manufacturing drones (UAV, unmanned aerial vehicle), most of which can easily rival their foreign counterparts.”
Some of these civilian drones are used by some organizations in the country for specific purposes, he said, adding, “Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Agriculture and Iran National Cartographic Center (INCC) are some of the organizations that need drones, and the homegrown ones can be supplied to them at much lower costs.”
Suitable ways have been paved in the country for designing and producing drones, he emphasized.
Vice president for science and technology said that military UAVs are equipped with advanced technologies, adding that more than 95 percent of these drones have been designed by the private sector.

Chak Chak Falls
This is the first known visit to Chak Chak Falls, located in a remote corner of the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness in the Mount Hood National Forest. The falls is located on Baldy Creek, which flows off the northwest shoulder of Old Baldy peak and into the Eagle Creek canyon. I first documented the falls in April 1981 from a viewpoint on the opposite side of Eagle Creek Canyon, and it only took 27 years to finally visit the falls in person. These video clips document that trip.

Soldiers You DON'T Want to Mess With
From Elite Snipers in Finland, to the toughest recruits in the country of Iran, here are soldiers you never want to mess with.
Subscribe to American Eye
5. Female Snipers
let’s take a look at the most prolific female sniper of all time who has a really tough name to pronounce! (Lyudmila Pavlichenko) Born in the Ukraine, she had joined a shooting and became an amateur markswoman at a young age. During WW2, she became one of a handful of female volunteers who found themselves at the recruiting office where she requested to be in the infantry. They allowed her to be a sniper because they needed some people and that was a good choice because she recorded a total of 309 confirmed kills during her time with the red army. Only 500 out of the courageous 2,000 women made it back alive. She defended her home land from the invading Germans serving in both the Siege of Odessa and the Siege of Sevastopol. Another Female soviet sniper worth noting went by the name of Roza Shanina who was praised for her sharpshooting skills but heroically lost her life during the East Prussian Offensive.
4. Polish Grom
The JW Grom as their also known by are almost like surgeons on the battlefield and many of them are trained extensively with medical knowledge and training. The group was modeled and trained in a similar fashion to other Nato special ops squads such as the US’s delta force, which we mentioned in previous special forces video. They’ve been quite active since 1990 when they were first established. A psychologically demanding exam is also given in order to weed out less mentally strong candidates. Only a small amount of applicants will get the chance to be an elite polish fighting machine and conduct stealth operations. When a coup d’etat took place in the country of Haiti, the US, Poland and Argentina special forces combined efforts to remove the military regime that took over. They’ve engaged in combat in engagements that the US could have used some reinforcements for and are equipped with many weapons that are popular with Israel, such as the Desert Eagle and the raphael spike anti tank missiles.
3. Pakistan Special Service Group
Pakistans special operation force is the country’s special strike force and these elitely trained soldiers conduct missions behind enemy lines out of airplanes to conduct various operations. With so much tension between India and Pakistan, having these soldiers in their arsenal will help eliminate threats that are posed on their country daily.Their missions are very secretive and special training must be done to ensure that they can complete missions under extreme mental and physical distress. They often sport a maroon beret but in order to get this they certainly have to make the cut. Only 10 percent of recruits will make the cut, making this one of the most exclusive special forces in the world . This regimen has seen heavy action in regions like Kashmir, which has been a disputed territory for decades. The have quite the advanced arsenal that includes weapons such as the Austrian designed Steyr Aug assault rifle, US built M4 carbine rifle, and another US built sniper rifle known as the Barrett M82. If india is america’s ally, why are we giving the pakistani’s weapons? Who knows.
2. Iran
WE supposed we could invade Iran if we wanted to, but we’d have to prepare for heavily casualties and it certainly doesn’t seem like it would be easy. It’s likely even the US with trillions of dollars spent on their military, would run out of resources before being able to conquer Iran. Only 4 percent of Iran is green land while the rest of it is made up of waterfalls, snowy mountain and it’s right in the heart of the middle east which means they might have some back up. It’s a very patriotic country who will fight to the end if they need to. If our president decides to invade Iran, they’ll have to deal with a very hostile group of soldiers and civilians who don’t take kindly to americans. Some of their special forces have been trained by the Russian spetsnaz special forces. A group of extremists known as the Quds are known for being very skilled in bomb making and have provided much support to anyone at war with the americans. It’s a subdivision or the Iranian revolutionary guard and thought to be an elite group of about 10,000 or so special forces. Maybe we should forget about the drone attack and move on. What do you guys think? Let us know if the comment section if you think trump should invade iran!

Last weekend of summer arrived and our journey began.
One of the friends supposed to wake up the others before the sunrise, But as always, I woke up first. Maybe I was so excited about our journey.
When I call them to waking them up,One of them said: I was supposed to wake you up!? and the other said: Please let me sleep for another 5 minutes!? What? I know that everyone has that experience. That 5 minutes has a pleasure that cannot be described. Isn't it?
I jumped into the car, started the Lily and went after the friends. You know what I faced? One of them rubbing his eyes, the other was yawning so bad that I could see all his 32 teeth.(Well, what will it be the end of this begin?)
The plan was to go to Eyshabad. One of the villages of Marand city in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. It was an small waterfall at the end of the village. we headed to the village waterfall after we had our breakfast in one of the village's garden with great test of herbal tea by nature sound.
The beginning of the road was so nice. Passing through the beautiful gardens with birds sound especially running water. But gradually, the road become harder and harder, and it was just rocks and river. Suddenly we stopped. In front of us it was a pool of water and that was the only way. Unless climbing a sharp, dangerous rock.Oh dear!
Each of us choose a different way. (Can you believe that) Mr Vahid prefer to return. Mr Milad jumped in to the water, half wet half dry, and to save my gears I rather climbing a sharp, dangerous rock. That's how two of us continued.
Not long after that, Unfortunately, Mr. Milad opened his feathers and jumped like an eagle and disappeared. (He moved as fast as he could!) That's how my loneliness continued to grow. OH dear. Can not be better than that.
The road became worse while I keep moving forward, it was something between mountain climbing and rocks. sometime I have to fall into the water to keep continue.
After a few hours I saw the beautiful waterfall. Very peace and beautiful place. It was a small waterfall but very tasty. You can not believe how much water I drunk. What a pity that I could not full fill my pocket with water to freshen up in the middle of the road.
Finally after a few minutes resting, I found Milad and we returned back home. We had a good time with a lot of fun, but unfortunately my new mobile phone Note 8 touchscreen broken. Oh what a pity I also made some photos and short video that you can watch and enjoy. Hope you like it.
