My iPhone4 is a piece of junk. Why was the volume so bad? (I didn't have my finger on the speaker.) Anyway, those mountains are not too shabby and MIGHTY PURTY!
Eagle Nest, NM
After a day of riding into a vicious headwind across the Oklahoma Panhandle, New Mexico greeted us with windy mountain roads through the Carson National Forest. Here we exited the forest temporarily to drop into the beautiful valley containing the lake and town of Eagle Nest, NM. A very refreshing end to the day.

The Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is a remarkable outdoor laboratory, offering an opportunity to observe the geological processes that shape natural landscapes. The cone tent shaped rocks were formed millions of years ago due to volcanic eruptions from the Jemez volcanic field. As a result of uniform layering of volcanic material bands of gray with beige and pink colored rock formed along the cliff face. Over time, rain and wind cut into the deposits creating canyons. The tent formations found throughout the canyon vary in height from a few feet to as high as ninety feet. The monument covers 5,610 acres of public land with an elevation of 5,570 feet to a height of 6,760 feet.
Canyon road, just a few blocks from historic Santa Fe is a place where one can find most any type of art the heart desires. The road is a half mile walk one way, and here one will find 100 galleries and restaurants.

Mississippi River Flyway- An Owl With Prey Sits Between 2 Eagles
A lone owl sits between a young eagle and a adult eagle with prey it had caught. This was amazing to see as owls and eagles are not friendly with each other. Owls will attack the eagles at night wanting the eggs, while the eagles are nesting. The prey (looked like a young bird or duck) may have still been alive from the sounds on the video. This may be disturbing for some to watch.
Brand New Bird Cam In The Mississippi River's Driftless area!
This is a very exciting time for the upper Mississippi River as we are seeing the beginnings of bird migration to the south via the Mississippi going south.
There are ducks, pelicans, seagulls, eagles, and many other species of birds and fowl.See description for more information and links about The Lake Onalaska Project.
About the Lake Onalaska Project:
The Raptor Resource Project has established a new bird cam on an island in the heart of the Mississippi River’s Driftless area. Located in the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge on Lake Onalaska, the 4K HD cam will offer an unparalleled look at migrating birds and river wildlife, including Bald Eagles, American White Pelicans, Sandhill Cranes, Caspian Terns, Cormorants, and many species of ducks, gulls, and other waterfowl. More than 325 bird species make the round-trip each year along the Mississippi Flyway, from their breeding grounds in Canada and the northern United States to their wintering grounds along the Gulf of Mexico and in Central and South America, and many of them will pass by this camera.
The camera project was completed with help from the Brice Prairie Conservation Association, the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge,fws.gov/refuge/upper_mississippi_river (power pole company) and Explore.org. Volunteers helped ferry people and supplies to and from the island, erect two donated poles, and install solar panels, a power supply, and the camera assembly and radios. From start to finish, the project took a total of eight long days.
Volunteers from the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, the Raptor Resource Project, and Explore.org will operate the camera. Please join us as we look and listen to one of America’s greatest migration flyways!
