Western Australia - John Forrest National Park
John Forrest National Park is one of Australia's oldest conservation areas and Western Australia's first national park proclaimed in November 1900. The visitor area contains barbecue and picnic facilities and cultivated gardens of native plants. The rest of the park is largely undeveloped and is home to a variety of plant communities and wildlife.
The park is home to two waterfalls that flow in winter and spring – Hovea and National Park Falls. Hovea’s falls cascade down a large granite sheet while National Park Falls drops sharply over 20 metres of sheer rock face.

In this episode Mark and I are heading out into the Australian bush. We make our way to John Forrest National Park to see the Waterfalls which only run through winter and spring.
I take the opportunity to practice my long exposure photography skills but encounter some difficulties along the way, including a broken tripod.
I do however manage to get quite a nice shot in the end and am very pleased with myself but as I go to show Mark I am not getting quite the response I was hoping for.

Went for a ride on the KLR 650 to the Mundaring powerlines to get use to the handling. Come off once, not real damage, just a scratch here or there.
The Motech crash bars did their job.

Darlington Creek Pollution
This video shows the disastrous results of poor land management practices by Holcim Quarry in Ormeau. Their lack of commitment to protect erosion made by 4WD and trail bikes on land they have squirreled away for future development led ultimately to major fish kills at the head of the Pimpama River where it enters the heritage listed Moreton Bay Marine Park. Under sustained pressure from the Stop The Quarry Holcim did finally step up security and introduce a land erosion mitigation scheme but there is heaps more to done as evidence by the large amount of silt still being washed into the Pimpama River from Darlington Creek.
