Pirates Bay, Tasmania, Australia
Tour from the ship. Description:
Come face to face with the striking natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula during this amazing half-day excursion that begins with a lovely drive on an air-conditioned motorcoach. As a friendly on-board guide offers intriguing tidbits about the area, take in the gorgeous scenery, which includes dense forestation, rolling green hills, verdant farmland and charming towns.
Eventually, arrive at the peninsula's ruggedly beautiful eastern coast where over time, harsh winds and powerful waves have carved awe-inspiring rock formations into the sheer cliffs. Depending on the day's weather conditions, visit either the Tasman Arch or Devils Kitchen, each a spectacular site. At the Tasman Arch, notice how waves naturally wore away the softer layers of what was once a sea cave, leaving only the strong top layers to form a dramatic, bridged chasm. Not so far away, Devils Kitchen features a stark, timeworn cleft in the shoreline with exposed flat layers of rock in muted tones of gray. Watch as energetic waves lap at the smooth rock face, then gently drift away.
Nearby, make your way to the Blowhole, another celebrated natural landmark, for a stellar photo opportunity. Here, look on in awe as water bursts through a remarkable crater formed from years of waves wearing through the sheer rock. At high tide, the powerful spouts often arch as high as 10 meters. Snap photos of this majestic site, capturing the rugged, plunging cliffs and sparkling blue sea in the background.
As the journey continues, journey to Eaglehawk Neck, the narrow isthmus connecting the Tasman Peninsula with the rest of Tasmania. The single way out of Port Arthur Penal Colony, this long, slender neck of land was heavily patrolled during the prison's operational years by guards with ferocious watchdogs as part of a strict security system designed to keep convicts from escaping. Wander along the famous dog line and meander through the old officers' quarters to get a sense of life on patrol. Marvel at the Tessellated Pavement, a stunning, flat expanse of tiled rock that looks manmade but is actually a rare result of erosion. Capture this incredible phenomenon and historic place in photos before enjoying a relaxing drive back to port as Tasmania's lush landscape fills the windows.

We arrived at White Beach Tourist park about 10am and we checked out about 7am the following day. We didn't have much time but boy did we make good use of it!
We covered Eaglehawk Neck and the Historic Coal Mine Site and got back in time for the New Years Eve celebrations. Epic.
