Lake District Walks : Easedale Tarn from Grasmere
A wonderful walk up to Easedale Tarn from the village of Grasmere, including the spectacular Sour Milk Gill. On the way I tell the story of a family tragedy some 200 years ago, and explore the site of a long forgotten tea room on the fells. The return route is via Far Easedale. A wonderful afternoon walk for anyone in the Grasmere area. Alternatively, this can be the first leg of a foray onto the higher, central fells of the Lake Distict.
Lake District Country Walk Grasmere to Easedale Tarn round
Our video is a guided walk at Grasmere in the Lake District. From Grasmere we walk up Easedale Road and follow Sourmilk Gill to Easedale Tarn. After crossing the stepping stones over the gill we return to Grasmere on the path below Cockly Crag and Stenners Crag then follow the bridleway back along Easedale Road. This is a lovely easy to moderate walk perfect for a winter’s day on tarmac, grass and stony tracks and paths. The ascent to Easedale Tarn is steep. The only way over the gill is via stepping stones and on the descent there is a wide area of boggy ground so care must be taken.
Elevation: approx lowest point 68.7m (225.4ft) approx highest point 299m (958 ft) approx ascent 329.3m (1080.4 ft).
Approx 4.5 miles allow 2½ - 3 hours hours using OS Explorer Map OL7, The English Lakes South-eastern area. The walk is clockwise.
Start point: lay-by car park on the A591 at Grasmere.

Sourmilk Ghyll And Easedale Tarn From Grasmere | Lake District Landscape Photography
We’ve had a lot of rain in the Lake District lately meaning that the waterfalls have been impressive to look at. To make the most of this I headed up to Easedale Tarn via sour milk Ghyll hoping to capture some of the rainfall in the photos.
I told my parents where I was going and they wanted to come to, join us on a Kappa day out

Discovering Grasmere: The Lake District
The lake district is one of my all time favourite places to go, it's locations like this that make me second guess leaving the UK, but I'm sure I'll find places equally as amazing as this in New Zealand.
This is Grasmere, famous for its gingerbread (you HAVE to try it) and its beautiful lakes. One of the most amazing little villages lying in the heart of the Lake District, you'll fall in love, even when it's raining.
I took my new camera with me to capture our training walk and the drizzly rain just made for the most perfect cinematography and I got some stunning photographs from the day, one of my favourites was use for this very thumbnail!
To see more of these images, make sure you head over to my blog and have a read of why I am constantly heading to this amazing part of my home country.

Lake District, UK ???????? - Sourmilk Gill Waterfall, Easedale Tarn - Part 3
Sourmilk Gill Waterfall, Easedale Tarn, Lake District Cumbria.
_______________________________________________________________
Easedale Tarn is a tarn in the centre of the English Lake District, about two miles west of the village of Grasmere. It lies in a hollow between Tarn Crag to the north and Blea Rigg to the south, about 910 feet or 280 metres above sea level. The hollow was formed by a small corrie glacier, and is believed to have filled with water around 11,000 years ago when the ice finished melting.
Easedale Tarn is one of the larger tarns in the district, about 480 metres (1,570 ft) long and 300 metres (980 ft) wide.
The path up to Easedale Tarn takes you past a series of waterfalls along Sourmilk Gill. All of the falls are easy to access from the path and can also be seen from the other side of the valley.
Sourmilk Ghyll, so named because its waters look like white churning milk or 'a broad stream of white snow' as Dorothy Wordsworth put it
The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (or fells), and its associations with William Wordsworth and other Lake Poets and also with Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin. The National Park was established in 1951 and covers an area of 2,362 square kilometres. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017.
The Lake District is located entirely within the county of Cumbria. All the land in England higher than 3,000 feet (914 m) above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. It also contains the deepest and largest natural lakes in England, wast Water and Windermere respectively.
