25/42 - East End Park: Dunfermline Athletic FC
25/42 - East End Park, Dunfermline Athletic FC, 13/4/19: Our final trip into the Kingdom of Fife on the tour to tick off the home of The Pars for today’s visit of Falkirk. We found the ground easily from the M90 but struggled to find the official club car park so on street parking it was. Not a problem. No cash was taken at the gates so we visited the modern ticket office / club shop to purchase tickets for the main stand. £20 each. A pin badge was picked up too at £2.99. Great value we thought. We then made our way to our seats in the Main Stand and despite being asked if we wanted seats in the middle we found our allocated seats to be at the side of the stand. Thankfully the view was fine though aside from a pillar here and there. Dunfermline may well offer the best food of the entire tour. Their “award winning steak bridie” was utterly delicious! Highly recommended by both of us! 11/10!
The stands behind both goals were identical and modern with the stand opposite us seeming older but it housed the more vociferous of the home support who did their best to create a bit of an atmosphere early on.
Onto the match then and quite how Dunfermline conspired to lose this is beyond belief. Missed penalty, hit the woodwork 3 times, punished by a sucker punch by the away team in the second half. A vital win for Falkirk though and may well be telling at the end of the season. 0-1 full time.
One final note, upon exiting the stadium and making our way back to the car we, along with hundreds of other fans, were bizarrely kept locked behind a gate for “security reasons.” The reasons weren’t at all clear and, frankly, we thought this situation had potential to become dangerous.
Other than that we enjoyed our visit to Dunfermline and everything it had to offer.

Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline, aka The Glen. Shot from a drone!
A quick sunset flight around Pittencrieff park in Dunfermline. The changing light was playing havoc with the white balance on the lens. Every flight is a learning curve so I aim to improve through time.
Pittencrieff Park (known locally as The Glen) is a public park in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It was purchased in 1902 by the town's most famous son, Andrew Carnegie, and given to the people of Dunfermline in a ceremony the following year. Its lands include the historically significant and topologically rugged glen which interrupts the centre of Dunfermline and, accordingly, part of the intention of the purchase was to carry out civic development of the area in a way which also respected its heritage. The project notably attracted the attention of the urban planner and educationalist, Patrick Geddes.
The glen is an area of topographical and historical significance to Dunfermline as the original site of Malcolm's Tower, the probable remains of which can be identified today on a strongly defendable outcrop of rock. To the eastern side of the park is Dunfermline Palace with Dunfermline Abbey and to the west it overlooks the village of Crossford.
