DARWIN, AUSTRALIA: East Point is located northwest of Darwin and is quite a large park. I was looking for some sights that are not too far away. First was a beach that was completely empty. Only one daring person ventured briefly into the water. Here also my understanding problem of Lee Point Beach cleared up, why nobody goes into the water. Between October and May is the season for Jelly Fish, also called Stingers. A contact with those in the water independently from the danger with crocodiles can lead to death. So there was nothing left but a little walk on the beach. Some locals caught fish or collected something or sat on the parking lot and drank beer.

East Point is an inner northern section of the city of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
East Point, Lee Point and Point Charles all appear on Goyder’s original plan of Port Darwin in 1869. This point, the easterly extremity of the entrance to Darwin Harbour has been used for a variety of purposes. It was the site of naval and anti-aircraft guns during World War II (1942-46), a post war golf course and currently a recreation reserve including a pony club and a war museum.More info:

CARAVAN TRIP 2007 HISTORY Fannie Bay is thought to be named after Fanny Carandini, a popular opera singer in the late 1800s. Fannie Bay / East Point is an established residential area, with a beach and large recreation reserve. Fannie Bay / East Point is bounded by the Timor Sea foreshore in the north, Douglas, Macdonald and Charlotte Streets in the east, Conacher Street in the south and the Fannie Bay foreshore in the west. Development of the area dates originally from the late 1800s, but primarily from the 1960s. The Fannie Bay Gaol was in use from 1883 to 1979. During World War II the area was used for gun turrets and as an anchor for the submarine net. In the immediate postwar years the current recreation reserve was used as a golf course. Major features of the area include Fannie Bay Racecourse, Fannie Bay Gaol, Lake Alexander, Vestys Lake and East Point Recreation Reserve. Fannie Bay / East Point has experienced a decrease in population between 1996 and 2001, the result of relative stability in the number of dwellings and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling
