BOATS, BEERS & BERLIN WALL MEMORIAL - East Side Gallery | Germany Travel Vlog
The Berlin Wall memorial, East Side Gallery, has graffiti and art which made for an epic boat tour in this 2018 travel vlog ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
East Side Gallery is a Berlin Wall memorial for what used to seperate the east and west of Berlin, Germany. As it stands now there's lots of graffiti and wall art across the concrete face, something that can be explored more with a tour of the area and a guide - we saw it from both sides, including on our boat tour.
The Berlin wall and the boat tour were both amazing, if you plan to visit Germany don't miss either of these!

The Berlin Wall: A visit to the East Side Gallery | DW Stories
Is it a memorial, an artwork, or a tourist attraction? In February 1990 artists from around the world began to paint their works on a leftover piece of the Berlin Wall. It became what may be the largest open-air gallery in the world. We look back at 25 years of a remarkable post-Cold War art project.
Berlin East Side Gallery
The East Side Gallery, the last vestige of the wall, is gradually changing, just like the city of Berlin.
L’East Side Gallery, dernier vestige du mur, se transforme progressivement, à l’image de la ville de Berlin.
A film by Olivier Blaecke
The East Side Gallery is the longest preserved stretch of the former Berlin Wall.
It is one of the largest open-air gallery in the world with 106 original mural paintings on 1.3 km-long created by artists from all over the world after the collapse of East Germany.
Today, it is being renovated for the Commemorations of the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall.

Berlin Wall Tour: East Side Gallery, Bornholmer Straße, Mauerpark (Travel Videoblog 025)
The capital of Germany is full of historic places to visit - especially the sights about the Berlin Wall are very popular by visitors from all around the world. I was lucky to couchsurf at Jannes Place in Berlin Wedding so he used the chance to show me around.
Instead of visiting Check Point Charlie or the area around the Brandenburger Tor we decided to show you some alternative spots to visit that became popular during the last few years.

Visiting Berlin East Side Gallery
On 15th of March was my birthday, just turned 28 and my friends visited me in Berlin. So we decided to make something cool and we went in the city centre to visit the reputable East Side Gallery. At first, I thought it's about an inside art gallery, but actually it's a 1.3km long Berlin Wall covered with humanitarian and political paintings. Amazing! The wall holds its history alive and I highly highly recommend you to visit this amazing monument!
#berlin #wall
We also booked a tour through Berliner Unterwelten to visit some of the bunkers that you can find in Berlin and that experience was outstanding as well.

BERLIN WALL - Walking the East Side Gallery
As I wandered along the East Side Gallery on a frigid afternoon I couldn't help but wonder what life must have been like in Berlin when the Berlin Wall divided the city. The 1.3 km long section of the Berlin Wall, along the river Spree, is now an international memorial for freedom. The gallery, consisting of 105 paintings from international and local artists, has been badly neglected by graffiti, vandalism and erosion since the original works were completed in 1990.

As the largest open air gallery in the world, it was fascinating to walk along the East Side Gallery witnessing the diversity of paintings, styles and symbolic meanings. The paintings themselves, represent hope in midst of change, with a better future in mind for people around the world. I couldn't help but feel inspired. There are many walls and borders around the world today that need to be torn down. Personally, I wonder what kinds of walls and barrier inside my head would be better off crumbling to the ground.
For 28 years the Berlin Wall acted as the dividing line between East and West Berlin. After Germany reunified most of the wall was demolished, but today some stretches remain as a reminder of the past, but also as a memorial for freedom.
The East Side Gallery was painted in 1990 with more than 100 artists involved in the project. Today the East Side Gallery is the largest and longest-lasting open air gallery in the world. If you're in Berlin for a visit, be sure to swing by.
We really enjoyed seeing the diverse works of art, and we recommend visiting on a weekday to beat the crowds.:
