Co van Kessel bike tours and boat tours provides a refreshing alternative to the tired tourist experience. We do not battle the crowds at clichéd destinations promoted in guide books, but turn your attention to quaint local communities and charming excursions into the fascinating lifestyle and culture of real Thai people. Every day is different and every tour is a surprise as we focus not on destinations, but lose ourselves in the enchantment of the journey itself.
Co van Kessel, an innovative and adventurous Dutchman, pioneered bicycle tours in Bangkok more than 30 years ago. As a longtime resident and self-professed lover of Bangkok, he understood very well the picture of accelerated urban development (gridlocked traffic, concrete towers, and choking pollution) that has plagued the recent image of the city. He also had a hunch that this was not what Bangkok or Thailand was all about.
Making it his goal to re-discover Bangkok, Co spent thousands of hours on his mountain bike exploring the vast network of local streets, alleyways, footpaths and canals between the main urban thoroughfares. What he found, lurking behind the facade of modernization, were hidden worlds of peace and tranquility, a picture of “real” Thai life that has remained unchanged for countless decades; an identity of a city that is true to the Thai people, yet largely unknown to outsiders.
Whether it’s the colorful sights and smells of the local markets, the fascinating life of locals along the canals, or the surprising existence of bountiful green belts, Co discovered the essence of what makes Bangkok one of Asia’s most captivating cities. Since then, it has been his mission to share these discoveries with the rest of the world.
What we do:
Our mission at Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours is to provide our guests with a singularly unique travel experience in Thailand. All our tours use Co’s extensive topographical knowledge of the greater Bangkok area as well as his keen eye for the interesting to take you where nobody else can or will.
We aim not to bore you with talk, but to immerse you in an experience where your individual fascinations emerge.
Bicycles, boats, and our feet become the tools we use to gain access to the previously inaccessible, behind-the-scenes lifestyle of the Thai. Here the roots of an ancient culture will become evident in a way you never could have imagined.

TRIP TO THAILAND, BANGKOK CITY, EXPLORING BANGKOK, BEST THAI BEACHES
Bangkok (English pronunciation: /ˈbæŋkɒk/) is the capital and most populous city of Thailand. It is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (กรุงเทพมหานคร, pronounced [krūŋ tʰêːp mahǎː nákʰɔ̄ːn] ( listen)) or simply About this sound Krung Thep (help·info). The city occupies 1,568.7 square kilometres (605.7 sq mi) in the Chao Phraya River delta in Central Thailand, and has a population of over 8 million, or 12.6 percent of the country's population. Over 14 million people (22.2 percent) live within the surrounding Bangkok Metropolitan Region, making Bangkok an extreme primate city, dwarfing Thailand's other urban centres in terms of importance.
Bangkok traces its roots to a small trading post during the Ayutthaya Kingdom in the 15th century, which eventually grew in size and became the site of two capital cities: Thonburi in 1768 and Rattanakosin in 1782. Bangkok was at the heart of Siam's (as Thailand used to be known) modernization, during the later 19th century, as the country faced pressures from the West. The city was the centre of Thailand's political struggles, throughout the 20th century, as the country abolished absolute monarchy, adopted constitutional rule and underwent numerous coups and several uprisings. The city grew rapidly during the 1960s through the 1980s and now exerts a significant impact among Thailand's politics, economy, education, media and modern society.
The Asian investment boom in the 1980s and 1990s led many multinational corporations to locate their regional headquarters in Bangkok. The city is now a major regional force in finance and business. It is an international hub for transport and health care, and has emerged as a regional centre for the arts, fashion and entertainment. The city is well known for its vibrant street life and cultural landmarks, as well as its notorious red-light districts. The historic Grand Palace and Buddhist temples including Wat Arun and Wat Pho stand in contrast with other tourist attractions such as the nightlife scenes of Khaosan Road and Patpong. Bangkok is among the world's top tourist destinations. It is named the most visited city in MasterCard's Global Destination Cities Index, and was named World's Best City for four consecutive years by Travel + Leisure magazine.
Bangkok's rapid growth amidst little urban planning and regulation has resulted in a haphazard cityscape and inadequate infrastructure systems. Limited roads, despite an extensive expressway network, together with substantial private car usage, have resulted in chronic and crippling traffic congestion. This in turn caused severe air pollution in the 1990s. The city has since turned to public transport in an attempt to solve this major problem. Four rapid transit lines are now in operation, with more systems under construction or planned by the national government and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The Phi Phi Islands (Thai: หมู่เกาะพีพี, rtgs: Mu Ko Phiphi, pronounced [mùː kɔ̀ʔ pʰīː.pʰīː]) are in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. The islands are administratively part of Krabi province. Ko Phi Phi Don (ko (Thai: เกาะ) meaning island in the Thai language) is the largest island of the group, and is the most populated island of the group, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Lee (or Ko Phi Phi Leh), are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai), are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea.
Ko Phi Phi was devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami

Thailand (/ˈtaɪlænd/ ty-land or /ˈtaɪlənd/ ty-lənd;[12] Thai: ประเทศไทย), officially the Kingdom of Thailand (Thai: ราชอาณาจักรไทย), formerly known as Siam (Thai: สยาม), is a country at the centre of the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia. With a total area of approximately 513,000 km2 (198,000 sq mi), Thailand is the world's 51st-largest country. It is the 20th-most-populous country in the world, with around 66 million people. The capital and largest city is Bangkok.
Thailand is a constitutional monarchy and was a parliamentary democracy until the coup in May 2014 by National Council for Peace and Order. Its capital and most populous city is Bangkok. It is bordered to the north by Myanmar and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea and the southern extremity of Myanmar. Its maritime boundaries include Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand to the southeast, and Indonesia and India on the Andaman Sea to the southwest.
The Thai economy is the world's 20th largest by nominal GDP and the 27th largest by GDP at PPP. It became a newly industrialised country and a major exporter in the 1990s. Manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism are leading sectors of the economy.[13][14] It is considered a middle power in the region and around the world.More Info:

Building a “green world”, for many of us, brings to mind planting trees. While the truth is, “trees” are not the very root of the solution for a sustainable green world; trees can only flourish with a key factor in place: good soil.
And if good soil is the foundation for a richer environment, “good consciousness” is the basis of building a richer society.
Therefore, our responsibility in the greener world of the future is not only to conserve and heal the environment, as society necessitates, but also to live in harmony with nature.
Hence, a business leader’s responsibility is not only the focus of improving profits for the organization, but also the development of a deep sense of social responsibility in society at large, as well as role modeling good corporate citizenship in public and private life. In this way, the higher goal is the endeavor to create synergetic benefits in business and in society concurrently, without taking advantage of others.

Chiang Mai Lantern Festival. Stop Wishing and Start Doing.
The theme of today's video (wishing for something) fit too perfectly with where we were at and what we were doing. When starting this trip, we didn't know if we were going to travel east or west around the world, or even just bounce around. But we knew we wanted to be a few different places at certain times. One of those places was Chiang Mai, Thailand in November for their Lantern Festival. As others, as well as our family, released our wishes into the sky with our lit lanterns, we were reminded of how wishes can came true if you act on them. Results come from action, not just wishing. Life's too short sometimes to wish on something. Sometimes, you gotta get moving and make things happen. Thanks for watching!
THAILAND VACATION - Secluded Beaches and Wildlife Heaven
Traveling Thailand's secluded beaches and most beautiful scenery while avoiding the party crowds and popular tourism. Comfortable and affordable resorts and bungalows with wildlife heaven! This is our quest for the perfect dream vacation in Thailand.
We had two weeks to spend traveling Thailand. She was seeking crystal clear waters, and beautiful resorts on secluded beaches. I was there to rough it in the jungles and see the wildlife... The elephants, monkeys, lizards and snakes! We were both there for the food, to spend as little money as possible and to avoid the party crowds at all costs.
KHAO SOK:
Our first stop was Khao Sok National Park. We boated with a small tour to the isolated floating bungalows. The beauty of Khao Sok is unlike anything I've ever seen... Like something out of the movie Avatar. Incredible white limestone cliffs dripping with stalactites into fresh blue green water. You can choose between several different bungalow styles ranging from primitive to modern. We chose modern only because it was the high season and we found a great deal with the Smiley Bungalows. The bungalows are extremely relaxing with a comfortable mattress and electricity. There were no mosquitoes and the staff was awesome!
KOH LANTA:
At the southern tip of the island is La Laanta Hideaway resort.
Cozy climate controlled bungalows with running water, clean restrooms, room service and a swimming pool 30 feet from the secluded beach. I personally loved the Tokay Geckos clinging to the outside walls. Departing from La Laanta are several other island tours. We choose the one that had the least tourists and best snorkeling, Koh Rok.
KOH ROK
Empty beach paradise and crystal clear water. In shallow corral reefs uncountable species of colorful fish, clown fish, parrot fish, puffers, damsels, you name it. The highlight was an 8 foot long green moray eel. If you like snorkeling, you'll love Koh Rok.
RIVER COTTAGES:
Next we abandoned the finer luxuries to bask in the basics. The River Cottages near Khao Sok was my favorite place we traveled. Keep in mind I'm a reptile and wildlife freak and this place had them. I had to really scour the surrounding area though to find them. Good food, no mosquitoes and a great staff while we were there in December.
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN:
Next we traveled to a secluded beach resort at the Sunshine Paradise Resort. We arrived late so checked into a cheap $15 room that was better than any $60 room in the US, then the next morning checked into a $45 room that was better than any $200 room back home. Not to mention it was on a private beach. The nearby temple is great place to set aside your irrational fears and live in the now. High above a peaceful ocean are several scenic overlooks of fairy tale backdrops.
KAI YAI:
Just outside Khao Yai National Park we found an elephant ride tour where you trek through jungle trails and streams. At one point the elephant tamer hopped off and let my wife and I ride the elephant by ourselves. After the trail ride you feed the elephants cucumbers. This was a magical experience for a Texan. Just a few hours drive from Bangkok is Kai Yai National Park. Scenery, waterfalls, wildlife and monkeys were the highlights of our afternoon.
Thailand travel suggestions: Coming from America we were advised to get several vaccinations and to not drink the Thai water. My wife, mother and I did not get any vaccinations and I drank the water freely as well as ate the street food on a daily basis. I never got sick but i did get a little queezy after drinking half the ocean through my nose due to a snorkel mask issue.
KOH LIPE Thailand's MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND
Koh Lipe is a tiny tropical island located in the Andaman Sea just off the west coast of Thailand. We spent four days on this amazing island, the sky was blue and the water perfectly clear. Here we will show you two of my favourite beaches on the on Koh Lipe; Sunrise Beach, and Sunset Beach... oh and there's a fantastic snorkelling spot to explore here too!

Phi Phi Islands Tour: Unforgettable Views and Landescapes | Thailand Beaches
Our Photographer Captured these awesome pictures during Phuket to Phi Phi islands Tours. You'll fall in love with the Natural Beauty and Landescapes of Thailand after watching this.
The Top Things To Do And See In Koh Phi Phi
• Visit Phi Phi Le National Park
• Hire A Long-Tailed Boat
• Try Snorkeling In Hat Yao
• Hike to Ao Lo Dalam
• Take A Boat To The Viking Caves
• Try Your Hand At Rock Climbing
• Kayak Around Koh Phi Phi
• Visit Mosquito Island
Phi Phi Islands Group is known as Thailand's island superstar. You must have seen those beautiful islands and beaches in the movies too. Maya Bay in the Phi Phi Islands was featured in the 2000 film The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. The islands are administratively part of Krabi Province.
The Phi Phi islands are some of the loveliest in Southeast Asia. Just south west of Krabi coastline lie the stunning Phi Phi Islands, part of a marine national park that's one of the world's most unforgettable destinations.
Relaxing beach stays await at Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort, which features a private beach and infinity pool equipped with a pool bar.
Today, Ko Phi Phi is one of Thailand's most famous destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling, kayaking and other marine recreational activities. The number of tourists visiting the island every year is so high that Ko Phi Phi's coral reefs and marine fauna have suffered major damage as a result.
To get to Phi Phi, there are basically two options: ferries and speedboats. The ferry is by far the most popular method of reaching the islands. Ferries take about two hours from Phuket and 90 minutes from Krabi or Koh Lanta.
There are six islands in the group known as Phi Phi. They lie 40 kilometres (25 miles) south-east of Phuket and are part of Hat Nopparat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park which is home to an abundance of corals and marine life. There are limestone mountains with cliffs, caves, and long white sandy beaches.
James Bond Island tour and cruise the Phang Nga Bay is the second most popular activity in the region. The area is situated 25 km north-east of Phuket. It consists of numerous dramatic limestone cliffs rising sheer out of the waters.
Chapter 24: This Is What a Budget $300 Maasai Mara Safari Is Like (Maasai Mara, Kenya)
I was in East Africa and I was dying to go on a Safari. I almost died when I saw how much the tours cost. A fellow backpacker at my camp informed me of a 3D2N Maasai Mara Safari that cost US$300 that I jumped on immediately!
In the end, I was very pleased with the whole experience. My tour group and I were housed in a comfortable eco-camp about 10 minutes outside of the park for 2 nights with all the meals included. We also had 1 full day game drive along with 1 sunrise drive.
I saw so many animals from antelopes, zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions (so many lions..) to warthogs. I never saw the elusive rhino nor leopard to complete the Big Five but seeing 3 (lions, elephants, buffalo) out of the 5 was stellar!
Everyone is in the same park and will see the same animals so the more you pay, the more comfortable your accommodations and food are, but the animals will all be the same!
If you're interested in booking this safari, contact Celestine at Adventure Backpackers Tanzania. Their phone number in Nairobi, Kenya is +254 780 136 545 and there are departures almost everyday. Mention that Nico sent you and, who knows, she might give you a little bit of a discount!
Happy Safari!

Bangkok, Thailand: Asia Trip pt. 1 TRAVEL VLOG | with.kim
*Watch in 4K - Sweating in HD
Took a 2-week trip traveling around to a couple of different countries in Asia. My first stop was in Bangkok, Thailand! My friend Robyn and I stayed there for about 4 days before heading to our next location. Flying from ATL to LAX to Nianjing to Bangkok took over 25hrs. There was some craziness that happened along the way (maybe I'll do a video around it and flying China Eastern).
Of course we ate a ton while in Bangkok, everything was out of this world! Visiting different temples and learning about their culture was an incredible experience. The only setback was how immensely hot and humid it was :O
Since we only stayed for a short time, we didn't get to explore too too much but here are some places we visited --
- Golden Buddha Temple
- Wat Arun
- MBK Mall
- Lebua Skybar
- Chatuchak Weekend Market
(I'm missing so many because I can't remember the names, promise I'll be better at tracking next time! hahaha)
*Also tip, if you are traveling around via taxi or public transportation -- use their Grab app. It's similar to Lyft/Uber but it has taxis as well as personal cars. It tracks where they are and makes it easier to communicate where you're going. Also prevents you from getting scammed by taxi drivers. Learned the hard way!
