Eastleigh Lakeside Railway - Summer Loco Gala - 24/06/12

I made my first visit to the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway for their Summer Loco Gala, held on Sunday 24th June. With up to seventeen locos running on their 1¼ mile dual gauge network, the gauges been 10¼ inches and 7¼ inches.

Locos in action during the event were:

- SBCR 'Bullock' class 4-6-2 No.2005 Silver Jubilee (10¼)
- SBCR 'Bullock' class 4-6-2 No.2006 Edward VIII (10¼)

As my first time visiting I must say I was very impressed, it is a lovely railway with a very nice collection of locos.

Part 2 of my visit to the Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway on 23rd December 2019.

2007 Jesse Moody-built 10 and 1/4 inch gauge 4-6-0 No. 850 Lord Nelson was having her boiler tubes cleaned out, whilst 1994-built 10 and 1/4 inch gauge Bo-Bo Diesel-Hydraulic No. D1994 Eastleigh carried out shunting duties, re-arranging the locomotive stock after the Santa Specials.

306017 arrives at Eastleigh Works - 13th January 2011

NRM owned 306017 arrives at Eastleigh Works behind 66066 and is shunted inside the Van Shop where it will be examined and stripped of all asbestos by Knights Rail Services

Eastleigh and Millbrook featuring 61306 Mayflower! 15/8/2019

A great day out to a familiar location and a new one for filming!

The highlights were B1 61306 Mayflower heading for Weymouth and 444019 in Pride Trainbow livery!

The usual array of freight was seen at Eastleigh and its why I recommend going to anyone!

2009 PLENTY OF MAINLINE STEAM TRAINS - BATH AND BEYOND (inc: EASTLEIGH 100 & WSR MXD TRAFFIC GALA)

A collection of the many steam hauled specials witnessed at Bath and other locations amidst the backdrop of the modern railway during 2009, Locomotives and events featured: 70013 OLIVER CROMWELL, D1015 WESTERN CHAMPION, 5029 NUNNY CASTLE, 34067 TANGMERE, EASTLEIGH 100 with a display of Southern Steam, Doesel and Electro Doesels and an array of vintage transport vehicles and model railways with 30587 hauling brake van rides) filmed on the 24th May, a brief glimpse of the Southern Steam Company Portland Dorset, 60163 TORNADO, West Somerset Railway MIXED TRAFFIC GALA on the 25th June with TORNADO supported by diesel hydraulics D1062 WESTERN COURIER, D832 ONSLAUGHT, D7017 and a Class 25, a quick look at the Hong Kong Railway Museum, 35028 CLAN LINE, 60019 BITTERN and 6024 KING EDWARD 1st. Some of the footage at Westbury, Eastlleigh and Minehead was taken by Wendy Smith.

Eastleigh Lakeside Railway 'LAUNCH OF No.35004 CUNARD WHITE STAR' - 03/12/2016

Ever since I visited the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway's 'SUMMER STEAM GALA' in July I knew that they had a new steam locomotive under construction - a 10-1/4 inch gauge model of SR rebuilt 'Merchant Navy'-class 4-6-2 No.35004 Cunard White Star. It was finally launched on Saturday 3rd December 2016.
With a ceremony undertaken by TV Antiques Specialist Paul Atterbury, Cunard White Star was revealed the the public at 2pm from underneath a large Union Jack flag. After the ceremony, the brand-new loco undertook its first passenger train.
Also in action were the other two big locos that builder Jesse Moody has built for the ELR - original 'Merchant Navy'-class 4-6-2 No.21C1 Channel Packet and SR LN-class 'Lord Nelson' 4-6-0 No.E850 Lord Nelson.

Class 306 arrives at Eastleigh - 12th January 2011

Sole surviving Class 306 unit 017, part of the National Railway Museum Collection, has arrived by road from storage at Kineton. The three vehicles were delivered by road and 08735 shunts them together before propelling them through to East Yard in readiness for the move into Eastleigh Works on Thursday 13th January. The unit has come here for asbestos removal by Knights Rail Services.

Final Trislander flight in Europe G-BEVT over Eastleigh

On the 21st of June 2017 G-BEVT the final example of the Britten Norman Trislander flying in Europe took off from Guernsey and flew to her final home where she is now part of the British airliners on display at Duxford Imperial War Museum. I had the pleasure of having a few flights in her before the retirement . This short cli[p shows her over Eastleigh, which was the only destination on the UK mainland which Trislanders operated from. Sadly you cannot really hear the distinctive sound which was a familiar sound here for over 4 decades
