How we found our Rescued Donkeys - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre Spain
Uploaded by rosalackpuma on 12 Jul 2011
I'm a Swedish volunteer at the easy horse care rescue centre.
Today (12/7-11) we went to rescue the two donkeys in Torrevieja.
Since the police just drove off and didn't want to help us I bought them so that we could save their lifes. The local police was there yesterday, but as I wrote hey just drove off! Or no, first they were really rude. Then they drove off.
So both the donkeys are now safe and in good hands at the rescue centre.
As you can se in the movie they were standing in a thick layer of their own feces.
Tonight we also rescued the white horse, but the brown one is still there. We will need help to save its life!
Share this with everyone you know!

Sue Weeding, Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre: Keeping the Faith along the Spanish Coast
Sue and Rod Weeding founded the Easy Horse Care Rescue Center after they left Norwich, England sixteen years ago to enjoy retirement at their finca in Alicante, Spain on the Costa Blanca.
Six months into retirement - life interrupted! Sue and Rod initially rescued two horses, and in the following sixteen years, they have saved over a hundred animals - mainly horses, ponies, and donkeys, along with a sizable number of dogs, cats, birds, one pig, and a peacock. In addition to the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre, they run the Easy Horse Care Equestrian Store and several Charity Shops to support the Centre financially.

Whilst living in Spain I have witnessed some awful cruelty of animals, not only from Spanish people, but other nationalities as well. The official launch of the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre, Rojales in Spain owned by Rod and Sue Weeding provides a sanctuary for abused and mistreated horses in the area. Since opening they have been inundated with horses, ponies and donkey's and continue to care for these incredible creatures.

Gota Fría Has Blown Again the Rescue Centre in Rojales - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
???? #gotafria 14 September 2019: This was the rescue centre this morning around 5 am. Another incredibly strong storm – with high winds and hail – crossed the Alicante Province and the Vega Baja from North to South. Miraculously enough, while the whole area is devastated and underwater, the Segura River hasn't flooded the rescue centre.
The intensity of the 'gota fría' that has blown the southeastern part of Spain these lasts days is historic and such a disaster hasn't happened since 1879.
⚠ Even if the sun has come back now, we're still on yellow alert due to risks of new storms in the next hours.
As a non-profit foundation staffed almost entirely by volunteers, we rely on your donations to continue our work to save horses and to cover their ongoing feeding and care costs.

Building the Great Wall of Rojales - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
More progress with the Great Wall of Rojales, also known as our secure new boundary wall. We're now filling the wall with concrete – 72 cubic metres of the stuff, to be exact! Once completed, it will be strong enough to withstand a lorry going through it and will also form the back wall of new field shelters for our rescued horses. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this major facility upgrade a reality.

Celebrating our eight year anniversary - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
Eight years ago today, it all began. From one horse back in 2008 to the 99 rescued horses, ponies and donkeys we care for today, it sure has been a crazy ride. Rod and I actually came here to Spain to retire, and never imagined we'd end up working seven days a week running a non-profit horse rescue centre.
But how could we not act after seeing the situation here? We believe that when you love an animal, you fight to save it. They may be old crocks and broken down and disabled or whatever, but for the abuse they’ve suffered and survived, they deserve a second chance. So today, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped us over the past eight years. It is only with your support that we can continue our work to improve animal welfare in Spain.

Volunteers needed - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
Hey everybody, Sue and Rod are exhausted these days and they desperately need volunteers to help muck out on the morning. We now have around 120 residents – we actually have a doubt on the exact number with all the latest rescues and need the things to calm down to count them again. It supposes a HUGE work to clean the 32 stables on a daily basis. There are three full-time workers here but with more and more horses, the staff is not enough to do all that has to been done, and the centre unfortunately can’t afford to employ someone else. Sue and Rod – who are 62 and 69 – are working very hard every day, but they’re physically struggling. The things are currently quite hectic here with several animals recently castrated that need cares, other with health issues that have to be watched, and loads of problems to be solved. They just can’t be everywhere.
Does anybody have a few hours to spare one or several mornings to help muck out the stables, clean the buckets, the trough drinkers, change the water…? It would be so, so relievable for Sue and Rod.
You can call, text or Whatsapp Sue directly on +34 652 021 980.
Thanks :) ♥

Paco - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
Police seized Paco and put him in our care on September 2, 2016.
When rescued, Paco had severe facial injuries from being forced to wear a very small head collar for far too long. It later became clear that Paco had arrived with tetanus, a life-threatening illness. We did our best, but he could not be saved.

Charlie's back home, part 1 - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
Charlie's back home! We'd like to say a huge thank you to Marisa and her team from the Alicante horse hospital for giving this little guy another chance. Charlie'll continue to be on injectable antibiotics the next two weeks. He's so good at the moment that Sue and Rod have put him straight out with all his little friends.
Charlie went twice to the horse hospital in the past few weeks. The first bill was €1300 and the second one comes to €732, and that's with a 20% discount kindly applied by staff there. It's very expensive to send them to the horse hospital and we're quite struggling at the moment.
Can you help us pay for this essential veterinary care? We'd be so grateful for even a small €5 donation to help – it truly does all add up. You can make a secure online donation here:

Our fields are looking a little better today - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
After a wild night with very high winds, the rain has eased today, thank goodness. The trenches Rod dug yesterday to the irrigation pipes have made a huge difference to our flooded fields, although poor Rod’s bad back is now so sore he can hardly walk. He’s dosed up on painkillers and is out there now, continuing to pump out as much water as possible to dry out our fields.

???? Gota Fría on Alicante Rescue Centre - Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre
???? As expected, today’s been a tough day at the rescue centre because of the strong storm that’s devastating the Southeastern part of Spain. Can you imagine that Rod – Easy Horse Care co-founder, 70 years old – has spent the whole day alone in the fields trying to keep the flooding under control? He’s obviously exhausted.
Once again, thank you SO MUCH to the people who helped buy new pumps. It would probably have been a complete disaster without it.
