POLISH VODKA CHALLENGE | Vodka Tour Warsaw EatPolska | Poland Travel Vlog
A Polish vodka tour in Warsaw with EatPolska lead us to tasting the best vodka brands Poland has, including grass wodka! ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
Vodka from Poland has an incredible back story - taking a vodka tour in Warsaw seemed like the best way to taste a lot of Polish vodka and learn more. In Krakow we took the best food tour in town with EatPolska and they invited/challenged us in Warsaw to join their vodka tour as well. If Poland is on your list you really should check them out here, they've been amazing:
The best Polish vodka brands, potato, old, new, cocktails and even bison grass vodka! This tour really had it all - definitely the best way to be tasting lots of brands and not feel like you're taking a risk ordering something random in a bar.
Before we tried any vodka from Poland we were a little hesitant, from our neck of the woods wodka is normally terrible and not used for shooting! Alas, we came around, Eat Polska has convinced us that the vodka in Poland is amazing!

Pierogi: Eating Polish Pierogi in Warsaw, Poland
Have you ever had the experience where you've tried something back home that you really like but then you go abroad - to the country where it originated from - and discover it is like 10/100 times better? Well, this pretty much perfectly sums up our experience being in Warsaw, Poland having authentic Polish Perogies (Pierogi) for the first time. So far we've sampled the meat and cheese ones with plans to try the dessert (fruit) ones soon smile emoticon Have you had Polish dumplings before? What did you think of them?

You can grab pierogi in just about any Polish restaurant or Polish bar and it has more different variations of spelling than just about any other food I've ever seen: Pierogi, Perogies, perogi, pierogy, perogy, pierógi ,pyrohy, pirogi, pyrogie & pyrogy.
Pierogi: Eating Polish Perogies in Warsaw, Poland Travel Video Transcript:
So it is our first full day here in Poland and this week we're visiting Warsaw and that means we have to try some traditional Polish foods. Today we are going for the National dish. We're going to be eating Pierogi for lunch. So we've placed our order and now we're waiting for it to arrive.
So if you've never tried Perogies before they're a stuffed dumpling. Typically they're steamed and then they're fried. And they come in a variety of different flavors. We've ordered meat and cheese ones but you can also get dessert pierogi as well.
Oh la la. Look what has arrived!
I know, my lunch is finally here so I'm going to be having the cheese pierogi and they also come with bacon so this looks pretty good to me. Let's get a shot of that bacon. I'm pretty hungry and here is the bacon.
Oh la la.
Let's take a bite. Mmm.
That is delicious. Wow.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of cheese it is. Ricotta maybe? I was just going to say ricotta.
It is a softer cheese and there is a car making noise behind us.
Whatevs!
That is how it goes.
Yeah, so it is really good. Actually we tried Pierogies last night for dinner but we didn't film it and it was slightly different. Those had been boiled and pan-fried but the perogies we're having today are simply boiled. So a little bit different and also last night's pierogies were served with sour cream and pickles. And these just came with bacon. So I guess there is a few different variations around the city.
Okay, so tell us about your perogies. Which are you having? I'm having the meat ones. And take a look at this. They are absolutely stuffed with meat. When I've had pierogie in Canada, which you can also pickup they're mostly heavy on the outer layer and there is not a lot of filing inside. But this is the exact opposite. These are absolutely stuffed. I can't wait to try them. Let's take the first bite here.
Like this is just the perfect comfort food. Like it is really hot and it is the summer right now but this is the kind of food that would be amazing to have in the winter.
So like Sam was saying this is quite a hearty and heavy meal. And that is because originally this was meant to be peasant food. So you wanted something that was going to fill you up and hold you throughout the day as you toiled away on the fields. So yeah, I mean it looks like a small portion when the plate first came. We only saw five dumplings and it is like 'well' maybe I'll be hungry after this. But once you start eating it fills you up right away.
You better believe it. What sets them apart is that they are handmade and that they are so stuffed with filing inside. I'm used to having kind of the crappy frozen ones that you buy in Canada and these are like 100 times better.
So if you're looking to order pierogi you can usually get these at a pub or a restaurant. It is the type of item that shows up on almost every single menu. And in terms of price point we paid about ten Euros and that included two plates of perogies and Sam's beer. And I had two of them and you also had a water as well. Yep, so pretty good deal if you ask me.

Polish Food - Eating Pierogi taste test in Krakow, Poland
Join us for our favorite Polish food as we eat Pierogi in the form of a taste test (both savory and sweet) in Krakow, Poland.
We found a restaurant called Pierogarnia - Słowiańska Uczta on our first full day in Krakow after shopping for some groceries just across the street. We ended up eating there on a whim and what a pleasant surprise it was. The pierogi served at this restaurant are some of the best we've ever had and we ended up going back several times.
All in all we tried 40 different pierogi for this video including savory and dessert options. It was a feast of feasts.

Polish Food - Eating Pierogi taste test in Krakow, Poland travel food video transcript:
So it is our first day here in Poland in Krakow. In Krakow.
And anyways we've got Pierogi on our minds. We are going to get pierogies. Oh and we're so hungry. We even we're even crossing the river to go find it today. We've been willing to cross a river to go have pierogi. That shows how dedicated we are.
This is awesome. Like this is a gigantic menu just outside of the restaurant here.
So we are kicking off our first full day in Krakow with pierogies. What else?
The most popular Polish dish. This is something that everyone knows about. Even in Canada we've got like frozen pierogi. So it is popular.
They are not nearly as good as the freshly made ones. No. Here in Poland. But yeah. It is something that kind of we are kind of subsisting off of pierogies in the winter in Canada. Yes. When we were in Kingston a few years ago.
It is like a really hearty meal. You know when it is cold out and you just need something that is going to fill you up and sit there for a few hours. Pierogi always a good idea.
But it is summer here but we're still going to have them anyways. We're still having it. Yeah. And actually we had some yesterday at the train station but it was just like a quick little snack and it wasn't amazing.
This place literally specializes in them. This is their menu. And we spotted this place yesterday when we were heading to our apartment so we like we're coming back. We placed four orders.
And each order comes with 10 pierogi so that is 40 pierogies that we're going to be eating for just 2 of us. 20 each!
So 20 plump savory dumplings have showed up at our table.
So we ordered two savory kinds. I think the first one was the Ruskie. Ruskie or something which is the traditional one which is like mashed potatoes and cheese.
And the other one we got fancy. We got like mushrooms, feta and something else. No, wasn't it walnuts or something?
So yeah oh and it comes with like caramelized onions on top. Wow. So let's try this.
We ate 40. We ate 40 pierogi. I feel like we deserve a gold medal in like the gluttony olympics or something.
That was I wonder what the record is?
How many pierogies. Has one person ate. Did we just break a Guinness World Record here?
But that was pretty much the ultimate pierogi taste test. Two savories, two dessert pierogi. I mean if you're going to try Polish food you absolutely have to try pierogi. And we really lucked out with this place. We didn't find it in a guidebook or even a recommendation we just while we were getting groceries last night and we walked by it.
That is going past. Anyways, yeah that maybe they are coming to rescue me because my belly is about to explode.
But anyways yeah I think we'll be coming back here for sure. We've got a whole week ahead of us. We'll be coming back here for pleasure and uh yeah pierogi in Poland guys.
You've got to try it. And price point for this meal?
So it was 56 Zloty which roughly is 13 Euros and that included our two drinks and 40 pierogi.
Yeah, it was pretty good value as well. Now time for a nap. Time for an enormous siesta.
This is part of our Travel in Poland video series showcasing Polish food, Polish culture and Polish cuisine.

EATING Traditional Food and Street Food in Poland ???? Incredible Polish Food Tour in Kraków
Wondering what to eat in Poland? Well this video is for you. We found the best Polish dishes. This is our last video in Poland (for this trip), so we decided we had to do a full eating Polish Food video. We decided to concentrate on both Polish Street foods and some traditional Polish dishes!
To start things off we decided to try a sweet treat, called Pączki. Pączki are essentially glazed filled donuts. The one we picked came with lemon zest and fruit filling.
Our second spot on our food tour took us to a nice cosy restaurant where we were able to try a couple of dishes. One was a delicious soup called Zalewajka (the restaurant also had the same name) which was made from sour dough, potatoes, dill and bacon. The other dish we had there was one of the most famous dishes from Poland, Pierogi! Although you can get so many different types and variaties we opted to stick with one of the most traditional which comes filled with potato, cottage cheese and bacon.
On our next stop we took a break from food to try some Polish vodka! We found a cosy little bar that had lots of options, so we tried regular vodka with some lemon juice squeezed in as well as coffee, cherry and rose flavours.
Our last stop on our DIY food tour took us to an outdoor market where we tried a couple of things! One was a traditional Polish sausage called Kielbasa, it was served with bread and mustard. And the very last thing we tried was an open-faced sandwich called zapiekanka. Zapiekanka was traditionally served as a baguette with mushrooms, cheese and ketchup on top but nowadays you can get all sorts of different kids. Our had sausage, mushrooms, cheese, garlic sauce and crispy onions.
ABOUT POLISH FOOD
Polish cuisine is a style of cooking and food preparation originating in or widely popular in Poland. Polish cuisine has evolved over the centuries to become very eclectic due to Poland's history and it shares many similarities with neighbouring Czech and Slovak culinary traditions.
