Ebbor Gorge, Mendip Hills, Somerset, Autumn 2015.
Hidden on the south side of the Mendip Hills is Ebbor Gorge, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The easy walk along the path through the trees turns into a more lively scramble through a narrow passage of rocks further up the gorge near the top. Amazing views from the top of Deers Leap across the southern Mendip hills to Glastonbury Tor.

EBBOR GORGE WALK- EAST MENDIPS
A circular walk from Wookey Hole Somerset up to the impressive Ebbor Gorge in the East Mendip Hills. It's a nice quiet route far away from the crowds of Cheddar. This takes about 3-4 hours and is good for families or people new to walking and hiking. The video has some added light hearted humour, map reading skills and wild whisky tasting! A bit long but I was having fun, so the last 10-15 mins is the gorge and whisky section! Hope you enjoy!

After walking through Wookey Hole I come to a small cottage with the sign for Wookey Hole outside and tubs of flowers where the West Mendip Way enters thru a gate---I follow a very muddy track until I reach a wooden stile and an Ebbor Gorge Information Board---the video starts from this point and further on I come across the path followed a week earlier on a different walk where I had descended down thru the Ebbor Gorge stream. On this part of the walk I am heading for the resting area overlooking the Gorge and with magnificent views of the Somerset Countryside.Some of the Gorge here was once owned by Sir Winston Churchill and there is a small monument and plaque dedicated by his daughter.

Wells to Ebbor Gorge Walk, Part 2 by Sheila,' Thru Wookey Hole', August 3rd 2015
This video follows on directly from the bottom of Arthurs Point where there was some confusion because of the weird arrangement of gates--eventually all is well and I am heading past the cows and thru a another gate into a large open field and down hill to another gate and into the village of Wookey Hole. This Athurian looking area looks like it may have been a hill fort in the distant past---it looks partially man-made--may be Iron Age.
