A Day Trip To Tokyo's Coastal Town, Kamakura! | Solo Travel Japan Vlog
If you're looking for an easy little escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, just one hour away is the gorgeous coastal town of Kamakura!
Full of Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples to explore (and LOTS of delicious street food stalls to visit on the way!), Kamakura is a quick and culture-filled day trip spot.
After six visits to Japan, visiting this seaside city was heavily underlined on my to-travel-to list, and I finally made that a reality for #hijessicanneinjapan season 3! And spoiler alert, it was 100% as lovely to visit as everyone says it is.

Yudate Kagura Ceremony at the Ebisu Shrine, Kyoto 【HD】
The Yudate Kagura is a Shinto ritual in which a Shrine Maiden uses a bunch of sacred Sasa (bamboo) leaves to splatter hot water around.
Being splattered with this water is believed to protect you from diseases, natural disasters and bad luck in general.
Some details, instruments and the type of water used may change depending on each shrine, but the ceremony is basically the same all over Japan.
This video is from a small Yudate Kagura held at the Ebisu Shrine, in Gion, Kyoto.

Exploring Kamakura Japan! | Daibutsu (Big Buddha), Japanese Cafe, & Matcha Sweets
We explore Kamakura in today's Japan vlog! Kamakura is famous for the Daibutsu (or Big Buddha) and its historical/nostagic feel to the whole area. We eat at a modern Japanese Tea House Cafe and try various matcha sweets. We loved the relaxed vibe of Kamakura and it was a nice escape from the ever-busy Tokyo. Kamakura was so much fun and would highly recommend making a day trip down there if you are in the Tokyo area! Be sure to read the rest of the description box for details on our trip.
The journey to Kamakura took about one hour from Tokyo Station via the JR Yokosuka Line. Once we got there, we first checked out what was in the vicinity and found a cute donut shop. Do be careful with holding food up in the air since hawks are known to hunt the area. We learned that the hard way lol. For lunch, we went to Momiji Chaya to eat traditional Japanese rice bowl served with tea. Most of the rice bowls were served with shirasu (white broiled fish), which Kamakura is known for. Meals were about 12-13 dollars. The matcha tiramisu is a must-try and several people there seemed like that was the only thing they ordered! We then took a nice scenic walk through the neighborhood to get to the Kotokuin Temple. Took about 30 minutes from Kamakura Station, but you could also take the Enoshima Electric Railway to Hase Station to save time. Kotokuin Temple is home to the Daibutsu (Big Buddha) and such a sight to see! Window shopping of the souvenir stores around the temple was fun. We took home some jelly soaps from Konnyaku Shabon; the soaps smelled so good and made for great gifts! And before we left Kamakura, I had to try the max level of the matcha gelato from Kamakura Chacha. When we got back to Maihama, we quickly grabbed some Pie Face over at Ikspiari for dinner. Long day but a fun-filled one!

We went to a Yakuyoke ceremony in Kamakura |And a visit to the in-laws
Yakuyoke basically means to banish bad luck and to bestow good luck. This year, for Naoki, is special because he is 42. There are special ages to get this done and this is one of the years. So we decided to go to Kamakura's main temple and do the ceremony.

【4K】Kamakura. Walking to Hase temple and Big Buddha (Shaky)
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
Video becomes shaky when I get to Big Buddha then I changed battery to fix it.
I thought also to take video at the Kamakura beach but felt a bit uneasy to walk through all that people with camera.

【4K】Kamakura firework walk
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
There was a firework in Kamakura I wanted to see last two years. Because it's over the sea I did expect nice reflections and a lot of space and so not that crowded. Some of that was true, reflections were nice. Also intention of this video was not only to show fireworks only but more as event with people. I was streaming and though I did expect issues with connection I expected to find place which is not that much crowded, unsuccessfully.

Trip to the famous Zen Temples and Lantern Festival in Kamakura
August 9th 2019. Today we went for a lovely day trip from Shibuya to Kita-Kamakura (1 hour train) to explore the famous Zen Temples, some of the biggest in Japan!
After the visit we moved to Kamakura to attend the beautiful Bonbori festival or Paper Lantern Festival which happened to be in that same week.
A Sunday In Tokyo's Sleepy Little Suburb, Ebisu | Solo Travel Japan Vlog
It's day two of #hijessicaanneinjapan season 3!
Come along on a super chill day in Tokyo's sleepy suburb of Ebisu, which is around a 15 minute walk from central Shibuya. It's a laidback little residential neighbourhood full of hidden-away cafes (and home to my favourite burger joint in Tokyo!) and the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon.
Plus, there's a tour of my cute lil Tokyo Airbnb at the beginning of the vlog! It's located in Hatagaya in Shibuya (two stations from Shinjuku) and was a lovely base to explore Tokyo from.
Enjoy the vlog! ビデオをお楽しみ!

A Day Trip To Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Shrine! ⛩️ | Solo Travel Japan Vlog
After 5 trips to Japan, this was actually my very first time visiting Kyoto's magnificent Fushimi Inari Shrine!
I always imagined the hike through the thousands of the iconic red gates would be too crowded to be worthwhile, but I managed to skip past the crowds and enjoy a relaxing and peaceful morning climbing to the summit of Mount Inari!
If you have a half-day in Kyoto, Fushimi Inari is definitely a must-visit; the views from the mountain are spectacular, and if you arrive at the shrine early enough, you'll easily get a chance to get that famous Memoirs Of A Geisha photo opp (without ANY people in the background!).
