This video introduces the Japanese traditional rickshaw,
which is called Jinrikisha. One of the charming points of a rickshaw drive is to have fun talking with the driver, as you can see in our video.
This time, our route took us through the West Down-Town in Asakusa, along the
Kaminarimon, the Raccoon street, Asakusa Engei Hall and the Denpoin.
A Jinrikisha is a cart which is pulled by a human. It was used from the Meji period
until the beginning of the Showa period as a means of transportation.
Two exchange students decide to ride a rickshaw for the first time. They enjoy the many sights of Asakusa
thanks to their friendly driver, who is, of course, fluent in English.

This time, we will see the East Down-Town as our course starts at the Kaminarimon, followed by the Sumida Park, the Denpoin Street,
Bentendou and finally ends at the Nitenmon.

The two exchange students have returned for another exciting tour through Asakusa! Again, their driver is entertaining them with lots of knowledge and anecdotes.

The path leading to Okochi Sanso garden from Nonomiya Shrine is about 400m long. Lush bamboos are high enough to cover the sky. You can bathe the sunlight leaking from the bamboo forest on a sunny day, and enjoy the walk. This scenery represents Kyoto atmosphere.

Yudofu is a hot pot dish of boiled tofu, bean curd. Kelp is laid in the pot with hot water and boiled tofu is eaten with the sauce. It is said that tofu have been conveyed to Japan from the continent in the 700's. Here you can taste the traditional yudofu at the purely Japanese style architecture, Sukiya style.

It is said that this shrine was built in around 800. The precinct is not very wide, but has a sacred atmosphere. The shrine is known for the god of marriage and the god of safe childbirth, throughout the country. The place is associated with the Tale of Genji.

The bridge over the Katsura River which flows through the center of Arashiyama, is about 150m in length. Togetu-kyo, meaning “The moon crossing bridge” was given its name by the Emperor Kameyama in the Kamakura period. When he was on the boat in a full moon night, he thought the moon looked like it is crossing over the bridge.
