A rickshaw is a great way to enjoy the nostalgic streetscape in Otaru because you can tour popular tourist spots efficiently and also enjoy conversing with the man pulling the rickshaw. The winter landscape in Otaru as seen from a rickshaw is incredibly romantic and makes you forget the coldness of winter.

Brother Sister Adventure in Japan Day 5 Part 2
The adventure continues as we head to Asakusa to embark on our Rickshaw tour with our wonderful guide Daisuke. For 30 minutes, Daisuke carried us in an old fashion Rickshaw through the downtown area of Asakusa, Tokyo's oldest historic district. We headed to the old Geisha town too and learned how a Geisha day is compiled and why she wears her white mask. It was truly a great time. Below is the website who's tour we went on, I highly recommend asking for Daisuke as he is very knowledge and funny.

Asakusa | Rickshaw Men in Japan (Interview)
The rickshaw as we know it was invented in Japan in the late 19th century during the modernizing Meiji.
The tradition still remains in some traditional cities like Asakusa or Kyoto.
Let’s see what the Rickshaw men in Asakusa actually think about the job.

This video introduces the Japanese traditional rickshaw,
which is called Jinrikisha. One of the charming points of a rickshaw drive is to have fun talking with the driver, as you can see in our video.
This time, our route took us through the West Down-Town in Asakusa, along the
Kaminarimon, the Raccoon street, Asakusa Engei Hall and the Denpoin.
A Jinrikisha is a cart which is pulled by a human. It was used from the Meji period
until the beginning of the Showa period as a means of transportation.
Two exchange students decide to ride a rickshaw for the first time. They enjoy the many sights of Asakusa
thanks to their friendly driver, who is, of course, fluent in English.
