Ecclesbourne Valley Railway The Beautiful Iris
Derby Lightweight 79900, the former test car Iris, on Thursday 11th September 2014 ready for its starring role at the East Midlands Trains Open Day at Derby Etches Park on Saturday. Also seen is the 1015 departure for Duffield. The restoration is a great credit to the dmu team at Wirksworth. Iris is also using the newly commissioned crossover at Wirksworth Station.

Half an Hour at (94) - Ecclesbourne Valley Railway 28.2.2015 -Wirksworth-Class 122 Derby Lightweight
Third visit of the day was to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth in the Peak District near Matlock. This line runs for 9 miles to Duffield and features predominantly heritage DMU's. Whilst I was visiting, W55006, a class 122 Bubble Car was operating. There were a number of other multiple units in and around the station including Iris, the only surviving Derby lightweight single railcar. Also seen in class 489 luggage car, 9101 which was converted for the Gatwick Express service. Today it is used for museum displays. 9107, another Gatwick luggage van is now painted in Pullman colours and is used as a buffet car.
