福井県越前町玉川での大惨事のため廃道・廃トンネルと化した道の探索。　途中　素掘りトンネルと見事な廃建造物あり。（字幕ON推奨）
当時　私は高校生でチャリダーでしたがここは良くサイクリングしてましたが　まさかあんな惨事が起こるとは思いもしませんでした。

玉川岩盤崩落事故
1989年（平成元年）7月16日午後3時30分頃、越前町玉川の国道305号で高さ40 m（推定重量1,500 t）にわたる大規模な岩盤崩落が発生、落石防止用の覆道（ロックシェード）を突き破って、現場を走行中のマイクロバスを押し潰した[8][9]。この事故でバスに乗っていた15人全員が死亡した。事故の瞬間はバスの後方を走っていた乗用車により偶然ビデオ撮影されており、轟音とともにバスが一瞬で押しつぶされる瞬間が写っていた。

この崩落の12年前の1977年（昭和52年）5月にも現場付近で崩落が発生した。その措置として福井県はトンネル案と海上道路案を提示したが、トンネル案は玉川観音が素通りになり、海上案も水産資源への影響による反対があり、中間となる「現道にロックシェードを設置する案」で決着した。

崩落事故の後に迂回路として現場の海側を通る仮設道路が建設された。1992年に玉川トンネルが開通して、崩落現場を含めた約1 kmの区間は立入禁止になった。

事故現場には1993年（平成5年）に慰霊碑が設置された。玉川観音も立入禁止区間に重なったことから、玉川トンネル南越前町側坑口の近くに人工洞穴を建設し、移設した。

現在でも旧道や仮設道路の橋脚は一部を除いて残っている。

A trip to Shakotan Peninsula in Hokkaido – A magnificent view of the sea you cannot miss!

Steep cliffs and a beautiful cobalt blue sea known as Shakotan blue – the extraordinary views from the coast, which are both mysterious and overwhelming, unfold before your very eyes. At Cape Shakotan (Shimamui Coast), one of the capes on the Shakotan Peninsula, a blue world created by the bright blue sea and various oddly shaped rocks suddenly appears right before your very eyes after walking through a dark tunnel. Why not stroll down to the beach to see the blue color of the sea for yourself?

By train and bus – About 37 min. from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station by rapid train → get on the Chuo Bus “Express Bus Shakotan-go” at Sapporo Station Bus Terminal and get off at bus stop “Shimamui Coast Entrance,” which takes about 2 hr. 40 min. in total
*A direct bus to the bus stop “Shimamui Coast Entrance” runs once a day from late April to late October.

Sorayama Observatory in Maizuru (空山展望台)

So, I decided I would bike up Sorayama on bike. This is 550 meters above sea level.

I didn't bring a tripod to help keep the weight down on my backpack. So, I am sorry for some shaky footage.

Sorayama Observation Deck looks at Wakasa Bay with the Japan Sea just behind that. On a nice clear day, you can see all of Wakasa Bay from Echizenmisaki in the east, to Kyogamisaki in the west.

This was one bike ride I would love to do again, but maybe to see the sunrise...
