AUSTRALIA-video blog #13 (Alice Springs)
After I left Perth, I flew to Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Alice Springs is a small town in central Australia, and it is the main gateway to Uluru (Ayres Rock). There are lots of Aboriginal people there... and I actually found the town to be kind of scary... people say not to walk back to your hostel by yourself at night...
There I went on a three day tour to see Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon. I met some amazing people and tour and had tons of fun!
We slept in swags, which are kind of like larger and thicker sleeping bags. We slept outside and you could see TONS of stars! It was amazing!
I really wanted to climb to the top of Uluru, but my tour guide really discouraged it because Uluru is a sacred place for the Aboriginal people. And after the four mile hike around the rock... which took me FOREVER... was wayyy too exhausted to even think about climbing. On the second day we visited Kata Tjuta, which was really beautiful as well. But my favorite was definitely Kings Canyon, which we visited on the third and final day of our tour. Kings Canyon is absolutely STUNNING! And I even went swimming in the garden of eden! I think the main reason I didn't like Uluru as much was because of all the hype people were giving it... but for Kings Canyon I went there with no expectations and the place just blew me away.
I even rode a camel for the first time!!
