History of the wetland
Follow the history of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands, from their origins as Carrum Carrum Swamp -- territory of the indigenous Bunwurrung language group -- to the time of early settlement. Features local historian Graham Whitehead, who shares his grandfather's experiences trying to settle in a flood-prone swamp area.
This is one of six educational wetlands videos featuring the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands in Victoria, Australia.

This video showcases a little bit on the history of the Carrum Carrum swamp and on how it developed into the Seaford & Edithvale wetlands that is present to this day and some of the wonderful birds and wildlife that can be found here.
We like to thank the small group of bird observers and conservationists that had the foresight to save and protect the last vestiges of this once great swamp.

Edithvale Wetlands Video Montage Eastern Grey Kangaroo
This is short videos taken at Edithvale Wetlands with the Eastern Grey Kangaroo having a nap in the grasses in the middle of the field from last year 2018 as well as hopping through the water 2-11-2019 to get to the other side, it was interesting to watch as the Kangaroo looked a bit unsure of where to go, as he went back to where he came from at least three separate occasions, he was tiring and eventually made it to the other side, to the delight of everyone who witnessed it.
The Edithvale Wetlands bird hide is open between the hours of 1pm – 5pm Saturday & Sunday entry is free, just sign in a book to record your visit and maybe a gold coin donation.

Seaford wetlands
Seaford wetlands, Quite late in the evening due to roadworks and Friday rush hour, so I had to kick the camera white balance up, and the result is a somewhat grainy shot, unfortunately. Directly off the camera, no editing.

A flat skate with a variety of surfaces and a good one if dodging people is not your thing (but look out for the occasional dog off its leash...).
A good path to enjoy for your fitness skating all year round and spot some migratory birds along the way or hear the chorus of frogsong at certain times of the year.!
Hopefully, we will have some rain soon. The wetlands are bone dry at time of videoing in March 2019.
