Edlingham Castle, Alnwick, Northumberland with the Phantom 3 standard
Edlingham Castle is a small castle ruin, having Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I listed building status, in the care of English Heritage, in a valley to the west of Alnwick, Northumberland, England. It has been described as ...one of the most interesting in the county, by Nikolaus Pevsner, the architectural historian [1] Edlingham itself is little more than a hamlet with a church alongside the castle.
The ruins are mostly laid low though much of the solar tower still stands despite an impressive crack running several stories down to ground level. The foundations and part of the walls of the hall house, gatehouse, barbican and other courtyard buildings are still visible, most dating from the 16th century.
The castle - more properly a fortified manor house typical of many medieval houses in the North of England - guards one of the few approaches to Alnwick through the hills to its west. Its fortifications were increased in response to the border warfare which raged between England and Scotland in the period from about 1300 to 1600.

The riverside ruins, principally the solar tower, of a manor house progressively fortified against the Scots during the 14th century. If you visit Edlingham Castle I would recommend continuing along the B6341 to Alnwick. This road has stunning views

Ghosts of Edlingham Castle | Northumbrian Folklore
Welcome to my channel! Here you'll find folk tales from across Britain and Ireland. I was exploring the Alnwick moors with a friend and we came across Edlingham Castle, supposedly haunted by the ghosts of Border Reivers and a Witch. An eerie place, yet a beautiful part of Northumberland. Everyone loves a good Ghost story.

Fancy being king of the haunted castle? Seven-bedroom mansion complete with medieval ruins and even a GHOST could be yours for just £1,500 a month

A seven-bedroom castle complete with medieval ruins and even its very own ghost has gone on the rental market for just £1,500 a month.
Bellister Castle, on the outskirts of Haltwhistle, Northumberland, features striking turrets, stone ramparts and views across the Tynedale Valley, and is available through the National Trust for £346 per week.
For seven occupants the price would work out at a mere £214 per month each, but any would-be residents would have to share their spacious home with the 'Grey Man' - the ghost of a minstrel said to have been unjustly accused of being a spy.
Legend has it that the musician had called at the castle and afforded food and a night's rest, only for the lord of the castle to become suspicious of him.
Picking up on his host's hostile manner, the minstrel left the castle instead of retiring to bed - which for the lord's confirmed his suspicions, and he set his hunting dogs to go after him.
But the dogs tore the musician limb from limb, and to this day he is said to haunt the castle grounds, with some guests reporting hearing the sound of baying hounds and a man screaming.
The grounds are also home to an old sycamore, known as the hanging tree, where royalist Cavaliers during the civil war are said to have executed defeated parliamentary troops, known as Roundheads.

Bamburgh Castle - Northumberland UK
Bamburgh Castle, on the coast at Bamburgh, Northumberland, England, is a Grade I listed building. Built on a dolerite outcrop, the location was previously home to a fort of the native Britons known as Din Guarie and may have been the capital of the British kingdom of the region (see Gododdin, Bryneich and Hen Ogledd) from the realm's foundation in c.420 until 547, the year of the first written reference to the castle. In that year the citadel was captured by the Anglo-Saxon ruler Ida of Bernicia (Beornice) and became Ida's seat.
