10 Things to Do in Edo Wonderland
UPDATED!
Whenever people ask me about my favorite place in Japan, I always say Edo Wonderland.
For tourists who would like to experience what it's like in the past, Edo Wonderland should be an item on your bucket list if you ever decide to visit Japan. The park offers the beauty, culture and interesting characters of the Edo era.
You can watch performances such as Oiran courtesan procession, ninja show which I swear was the highlight of my trip. I watched them battle inside the theatre like a pro. Like with shuriken and katana ???????? and I was like f****ck—how could they memorize every movement for a show without slicing each another? I was just so amazed! I went to compliment the Ninjas after the show.haha
Also, you can participate in a samurai workshop (you can watch my experience last year in my video. See link below), dress up as a lord or princess in beautiful kimono or a town’s lady, eat lots of delicious food and take photos with the locals. They sure love that!
Will I visit the place for the 3rd time? YES!

From Asakusa, Tokyo
~~~Take the Limited Express Train from Tobu Asakusa Station to Kinugawa-onsen station then take the bus to Edo Wonderland. (2 hours)
From Tobu World Square
If you are coming from Tobu World Square, take the shuttle bus which you can find right in front of the Theme Park.
Read my previous post to know about Tobu World Square. I recommend you to take it as your Day 1 plan before heading to Edo Wonderland the next day. A Theme Park Reflecting Culture and Life in the Edo Era
Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
This vast theme park in front of Nikko National Park has a wide range of film-related attractions including an open set for film sets, theaters, film halls and an exhibition halls. An impressive ninja play and oiran (geisha) parade are very popular among the visitors. You can enjoy and learn about the culture of the Edo period through watching performances and experiencing the associated attractions.

Nikko Edo Mura the Japenese culture theme park recently changed the name to Edo Wonderland. It fuses together into the Edo period culture and the present culture.
Once you enter the gate, it gives an illusion that you are lived in the Edo period. You can experience life like a Ninja and also watch Ninja shows. Do you see through a clever trick?? Ninja are very clever to disappear and they appear from a place not possible to foresee. Be careful!!! Ninja will attack you!!! Also there have some display of the Edo period life and prison. After you enjoy show and display, you can take rest at a restaurant. You have to try traditional Japanese foods like Dango, Udon, Soba, etc
You can also pre-arrange to wear traditional Japanese costumes for an even more authentic experience.
Dont forget to buy souvenirs for your trip memory. There are many traditional goods. Nyan-Mage is a popular mascot of this amusement park.
If you interest in Japanese culture, you will enjoy here and make a great memory.
Streets, merchant houses, commoner's houses and samurai (warrior) residences from the Edo-era (1603-1867) are all reproduced here.

April 2014 - We visited Edo Wonderland in Nikko Japan. It is a historical theme park that is modeled after 16th century. The town and the people are dressed in that time period. There are ninja shows and attractions and some you can participate in.

Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura (江戸ワンダーランド 日光江戸村 Edo Wandārando Nikkō Edomura) is a Japanese cultural theme park located in the Kinugawa Onsen area of Nikkō, Tochigi. Edo Wonderland has seven theatres featuring various traditionally themed shows including plays, Ninja action and Oiran shows combined with outdoor live shows, street performances, parades, seasonal festivals and special events.

Japan Vlog : Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
Had the opportunity to visit Japan. Stayed in Japan for two weeks but only stayed in Tokyo for a weekend. It was a really interesting experience. Didn't do a whole lot of sightseeing or visiting the real popular places but maybe I'll visit again soon to do all of that. :)
