A Touch of Spring at Eggleston Hall Gardens
An early morning walk around Eggleston Hall Gardens before the customers start arriving and I have to hide away in the potting shed. There is something unique about a spring morning, particularly an English spring morning when everyone is going about their tasks in readiness and I hope you enjoy this little stroll with us.

Chaski and Psophonia Dance Company
This video demonstrates the expert skills of Chaski and Psophonia Dance Company and their ability to work together to create a site-specific work of high quality. The music performed is the first movement of The Garden of Adonis for flute and harp by American composer Alan Hovhaness. The choreography expresses the concepts of rebirth and rejuvenation found in the text of Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene, upon which the music is based. The setting in a park and creek, although not directly related to urban gardening and local farming, shows a visceral connection between the music, dance, and the natural world. The collaborators master the difficulty in performing in situ. The dancers dance perch in live oak trees and in a creek, far from a theater setting. The musicians play under the tree and on the creek bank, far from a concert hall. This preliminary collaboration had grown into an exciting music/dance/poetry production of Infinite Shapes of Creatures, performed by Chaski and Psophonia in Georgetown, Texas, and Houston, Texas, in 2013. Chaski and Psophonia combine their talents for their next joint project: choreographing and performing The Book of Goddesses for flute, harp, percussion, and dance, by living American composer Robert Paterson.
They made this video for The Idea Fund application, which accounts for the nature of the credits.

High Hill Top
High Hill Top is the highest garden in the NGS yellow book. for the many American viewers that watch these videos, the Yellow Book is something of an institution within the UK. Private gardens will often open on one or two days of the year to the general public with all proceeds and admissions going to a group of charities, historically the McMillan nurses have been the main beneficiary. it is a system that is being copied by other charities and sadly it is a format that has probably had its day for two reasons. The first being gardens used to have to reach a certain standard, whereas today almost any garden will be accepted, particularly within village group garden days....also, and very sadly it is becoming an easy way for various criminals to look around a property with a view to thieving, also certain members of the public will steal things, especially plants as I know to my cost.
I would further add that the format in my opinion is a being flogged to death and gardens are opening too frequently, with familiarity breeding a mind set that takes the gardeners work and efforts for granted for the kudos of the regional organisation....but you can't say that because they play the emotive its for charity card.....A bit less frequency and a bit more quality.
High Hill Top is a good garden against all the odds at 1200ft created and gardened by the loveliest of couples.
Wallington; A Fine Walled Garden
Wallington Hall is a fine old country house, seat of a branch of the Trevallyan family whose notorious attitude (Charles Edward) to the Irish has led to the name being hated in many parts of Ireland. However, we were here to visit the lovely walled garden, set well away from the house and all its history.
Gardeners have a love of plants that binds them as a respectful group across all national bounderies, religions, creeds, and cultures. Perhaps it is their respect and affection for the natural world that does this, for without that, we as humankind are biting the very hand that feeds us......but what do I know? I'm a fucking gardener not a politician.

Raby Castle, County Durham, England.
Raby Castle is one of the largest and most impressive of English medival castles. The first castle built on the Raby estate was constructed during the reign on King Cnut in the early 11th century. The castle that stands now was begun by John, 3rd Baron Nevill in 1360. The castle is real beautiful from outside but also from inside; you have a lot things to see like the Entrance Hall, the Baron'Hall, the Octagon Drawing Room, the Blue Bedroom, the Kitchen, the Dining room. There are also to paintings, crafts, furnishings. You can discover the wonderful garden(the Walled Garden) and park (Raby Deer Park).

The idea of this series is not to shatter dreams but to give a small sense of the reality involved both good and not so good.
This introduction video will set out the style and introduce the people.
Skirtlifting a large conifer 2
At Eggleston Hall Gardens we are tackling a large overgrown conifer that has been a centre point on the lower lawn for decades. I has become too dominant and overpowering, so, not wanting to lose the maturity it brings to the gardens we are attempting to bring out its shape and turn an overgrown monster into a beautiful tree.
I am a great believer in exposing the trunk of trees...it is their heart, and like the lines a a persons face they reflect its maturity and character.
Gateway Hall Tour
Gateway Hall, newly constructed in the Fall of 2015, received its name from Residence Halls Association (RHA). Gateway Hall’s name combines the historic past with MU as the first established university west of the Mississippi, along with the sustainable and socially innovate values the new hall will foster. Many of the hall events, communities and governmental entities within the complex strive to represent the university values as a part of daily life.
Gateway Hall provides living space for approximately 331 residents. The hall is located on the southeast side of campus near Virginia Avenue, Mizzou Market and Plaza 900, which is one of Campus Dining Services' all-you-care-to-eat dining and take-out location.
