2017 - QUEBEC CITY, CANADA - 'A JORNEY BEFORE CHRISTMAS' (Rus Version)
A musical guide/trip summary of our 'Journey Before Christmas' to Quebec City and Montreal, Canada.
December 23rd:
We drove 13 hours from Norwalk, CT, USA to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. This 500 mile drive usually takes no more than 7 hours but Rain, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Snow, Snow Storm, and Strong Winds were slowing us down.
We reached Québec City, Quebec, Canada - La Vieille Capitale (1608) around 5 PM a checked-in at Hotel PUR which surprised us with a magnificent view on Église Saint-Roch.
We spent an evening exploring local breweries (Noctem Artisans Brasseurs) and getting some Christmas mood walking around Old Quebec City (Vieux-Québec): Château Frontenac, Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, Saint Lawrence River.
December 24th:
To get the true taste of Christmas we drove to l'Ile d'Orleans to visit the most famous local chocolate factory: Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orleans. After the most delicious Latte and hot chocolate we headed to a very cozy farmers market Marché du Vieux in Port de Québec. Make sure to get any honey-fermented liquor they offer. Our personal favorite was Honey-Rum and Mead (honey wine) made by Miel Nature. We finished our outdoor adventure with Montmorency Falls. We spent our Christmas Eve in the best Bistro Bar I've ever been to: Sapristi in Old Quebec City.
December 25th:
Our Christmas Day started with another snow storm so we decided to hit the road early. On our way back we chose a route that lead us through Montréal - 'La Metropole'. Once there we found one of the few opened places Crêperie Chez Suzette on Rue Saint-Paul O. That road takes you straight to Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal which you can view from Place d'Armes. We couldn't enter the Basilique due to the Christmas mass that they were conducting at that time. Despite some snow storms we made it home around 11 PM. Next morning a nice self-serve car wash solved my issue with layers of salt on my car.
Overall we traveled 1133 miles on December 23-25th and spent 30 hours driving due to some heavy winter weather. No regrets though :) It was totally worth it!

Saint-Roch Neighbourhood in Quebec City
Saint-Roch is a downtown neighbourhood in the borough of La Cité in Quebec City, Canada. In the first half of the 19th century, Saint-Roch was a shipbuilding site. Later, the district saw the development of retail and manufacturing activity.
Saint-Roch is a hip district with lots of small restaurants, cafes, and lively bars, as well as boutiques selling clothes, housewares, and toys, along Rue Saint-Joseph. Music venues, theaters, and contemporary art galleries dot the entire area. The Jardin Jean-Paul L’Allier features gardens and a man-made waterfall, and nearby is the towering Église Saint-Roch. The city’s pro baseball team plays at Stade CANAC.
